FLPR Universal Remote Accessory for iOS Devices, $10 at Vodafone/3 Retail Stores (RRP $69.95)

320

Vodafone/3 are clearing out these accessories for only $10 - just plugs into the dock port of your iOS device.

Deal should be good across Australia, and the couple of stores I've worked at all have 5-10 in stock, but you may have to ask for them as they might not be on the shelves (and the price tags wouldn't have been updated if they were).

I don't think I count as a store rep (and I definitely don't represent VHA with this post)- I just work in one of their retail stores and noticed that these were going cheap.

  • Wondering what's the real use of this device?

    • It's an IR transmitter - you configure it to your TV/DVD player etc with the app which comes with the device, and it allows you to use your iPhone as a remote control. I don't know how good the app is, having never actually used it.

  • Nice find… much better than the $30 they were ozbargained for yesterday.. might have to trawl around a few shops to find one… (or several hehe)

Sounds like a very expensive remote. Hope the app does more then just changes channels, like more logitech haramony macro type

    • +2

      $10 is an expensive remote?

      • +1

lol yes… This is Ozbargain !!!

    • +3

it's also about convenience… if you have an iphone, you wont' need to buy another universal remote…

(also good for changing channels/volume in doctor's waiting rooms, pubs, cafes etc. etc….)

  • -1

ok i knew this is an IR transmitter and it works as an universal remote

but why would i bother to 1.plug in the transmitter, 2. tap to open the app, 3. choose the device which I'd like to control, and 4. change channels/volume etc … while I might have already grabbed the real remote and done with what I want in no time?

    this is technology

    • would you carry a remote outside your house?

      • +2

it depends why do i need a remote outside my house. i think you'll need to pre-program before it can be used on any TV/VCR/DVD players. So don't expect in a Pub you can change the live sport channel into ABC2 cartoon channel with this transmitter+app alone.

        • You could if you used the phone to get the TV codes for the app.

        • +1

If the pub is kind enough to lend you the original remote for a few minutes, you can use the learning feature and then start changing channel non-stop to annoy everyone in the pub (probably will get escorted out of the pub).

        • +1

If the pub is kind enough to lend you the original remote for a few minutes

you can probably select the remote from the list if you know the brand/model of TV

        • the problem is they would knows its you! you just borrowed a remote!!!

    • +1

you obviously havent used a receiver or home theater system before, a uni remote is heaps more handy then say the minimum three i need to turn all the gear on.

  • I picked one up in North Sydney Greenwood store. They don't have any more in stock though.

    • Bugger, I was gunna duck down there at lunchtime.

  • $10. Great find.

  • Thanks! Bought the only one on display at the 3/Vodafone store at the QVB (Sydney)!

  • EDIT: Got a store to hold some for me till tonight. (fingers crossed)
    Thanks Voda-dude! Or 3zian..

  • None at Helensvale and I got the last one at runaway bay.

  • Double post

  • Melb CBD….
i got the last one at cnr of Collins & Swanston, there was 1 left on Elizabeth (near Bourke St) when i left.
The one on Elizabeth, near Collins didn't have any…

  • There were two at the Geelong Westfields store. I bought one of them :)

  • +1

I was interested in buying a few, but i downloaded the software and i'm not interested in it anymore.. lol.. i get the feeling that it was abandoned.. :(

  • Just a side question for OP since you work at Voda/3: do you still sell all those heavily discounted bluetooth headsets and car stereos?

    • +1

If your local stores still have them they'd still be $10 each, but all the ones I knew of went within the week they got discounted a few months ago.

  • Trid the 3 store in Prahran Central and the one in Chapel St South Yarra and neither had stock.

    • i wonder if the stores can see the stock levels of the other stores ????

  • None at all Parramatta NSW Westfield Voda/3 stores.

  • Vodafone South Melbourne are sold out as well (on Clarendon Street)

  • +1

NOTE, don't just take the staff's word for it, make sure they look… I went to 3 stores in Melb and none of the staff knew what i was looking for, but 2 of the stores actually had stock…

by the way you can get these on ebay for $40 inc postage

    • +4

that's the total amount i paid for 4 of them, lol…

      • then you sell them on ebay for $40 inc postage?

        • lol jv might be considered many things eg pr0n connoisseur, but jv != broden, at least I hope not :)

        • nope, got one for me one for the wife and two for gifts for a couple of relatives… not for sale…

if i was doing a broden, i would've purchased the last one on Eliz St too…

    • +1

how is $40 considered a deal for something you don't really need. We buy it off ozbargain because it is just a luxury we can afford at $10. If we had to spend $40, we probably won't be trolling here.

  • Anyone got it working with Tivo?

    • yup these guys: http://www.macworld.com.au/reviews/flpr’s-flippin’-good-14315/

  • 4 left at Garden City (Brisbane southside) as at mid-afternoon.

  • Got the last one at miranda, staff said more coming monday morning.

  • Think I got the last one at Burleigh Heads..

  • +1

None at Parramatta, Rhodes, Blacktown, Top Ryde, Penrith, Rouse Hill, Chatswood, Burwood or Hornsby. Few of the staff said no more coming in as they were clearing it out. Great deal for those that got the last remaining few. I searched high and low with my imaginary $2 kmart ladder but found none :(

    • Did you really need your imaginary Kmart ladder to search low?

  • -1

I bought the last 3 in Newtown!

  • +2

I picked up a spare one and will be in Sydney all week. $10 if anyone is still looking.

    • that's nice of you…

      • lol :P

        • Spare one - sold.

  • Hi all

if anyone still subscribed to this email,

Would there be any interest at buying it for $20 delivered?

We may strike a deal to order some

    $10 won't cover postage so it's a no go

    and we can't compete.
