I've been watching RAM prices lately as doing a Ryzen 3700x build and it seems to be the cheapest 2x16GB set at 3200mhz I can find nowadays with the FX rate moving daily, and with RGB. Even non-RGB is similarly priced. The jump up to anything faster than 3200mhz seems to be disproportionately expensive.

      I believe the “Pro” moniker is in relation to the RGB-ness rather than the RAM itself lol.

    Watch the LTT on which RAM speed to get. I got 3200 for my build, but sometimes slower speed with adjustments at your BIOS level can achieve better ROI.

    Shouldn't you really be aiming for the recommended 3600MHz memory that AMD recommends? Benchmarks seem to show a reasonable difference in performance.

      It's more for minimum frames than anything else, and aside from lower Micron E-die binnings, it's not really worth targeting for most people.

      I tried looking for 2x16GB at 3600 CL18 and came up short unless it was ridiculously expensive, but performance wise a 3600 CL18 and 3200 CL16 first word times are near identical, though I have read that Ryzen 3xxx series do prefer higher clock speeds, how I don't know.

      I watched a few benchmark reviews comparing different RAM speed and it seems once you get above 3000mhz there is diminishing returns and 3200mhz seemed to be a good value proposition. Agreed 3600mhz is meant to be the ideal spot, but in terms of price, I’d rather 32GB at 3200mhz than 16gb at 3600mhz. I also liked that it keeps two RAM slots free in case I’m still using same motherboard/etc in the future and want to go beyond 32GB of RAM.

      If you have 2080 Ti and X570, and you really want to push every single %, then yes, go for it. With most recent test results, if you have RX 5700, 2060 Super, or lower, you really don't gain much. Timings also matter.

      Some motherboards (if not most) also allow you to set/lock the infinity fabric frequency. That takes away some advantage of DDR4-3600.

    not sure about the trends of the current market for RAM but I bought the same model in white last month for $264 with free postage if you don't really urgently need the ram now. Also the ARGB only works with corsair icue, and it's not possible to have your motherboard control the ARGB settings only normal RGB. Also not possible to run icue and motherboard rgb at the same time eg. I cant run gigabyte fusion RGB and icue at the same time without one overiding the other.

      Thanks for sharing. I think it’s also heavily influenced by AUD/USD rate as it fluctuates daily. I regret not deciding to buy this stuff a month ago but it’s ok, small wins and losses.

      Just some quick notes:

      • If you are happy with just using XMP and keep this running at DDR4-3200, then this should work fine. If not, you either received a dud pair of RAM modules or your M/B is !@#!@.
      • If you want to be safe, use Thaipoon burner to export your memory module timings properly (need to go to the last section and change the timing export to ns instead of clock cycles before you do the export). Import the exported results in Ryzen Memory Calculator. That would give you a more accurate values. Manually pick and choose in the calculator can often end up in settings which are too aggressive.
      • MSI appears to be lagging behind in BIOS updates. X570 God Like has ComboPI 1.0.0.3abb. Most of the other ones have 1.0.0.3a or ab (even a lot of their X570 boards).
      • If you have 4 DIMMs setup, setting CR to 2T might be a safer option.

      How long ago? With the AUD/USD fluctuations, I think a lot of the good deals from a month or two ago are no longer achievable at the moment :(
