Half Price Zero-X Drones ($49- $189) @ JB Hi-Fi

100

Not the best reviews but might be worth a try at half price? Batteries also half price though worth noting certain models seem to come with 2 batteries.

Price looks good. Reviews are awful.

That's some terrible reviews across the entire range. Not sure it's worth a try at all.

  • These are not worth your money even at half price. Absolute terrible reviews - no wonder its being flogged off.

Surely couldn't be worse than the $1 Drone I picked up in the Ebay Plus weekend a couple months ago? That popped up on the app saying disconnected, landed itself, then all of a sudden went full throttle, cutting my finger, and taking off about 40m in the air heading west. Never saw him again!

Coincidentally if a drone landed and did some damage to your property in the Northern Suburbs of Perth it definitely wasn't mine. cough

There’s DNA on the props. It’ll come back to you ;)

On the plus side, when the robot uprising occurs you're on record as having released a quadcopter into the wild. On the other hand, having called it a "drone" could be problematic…

I mean to be fair the listing on eBay, and the packaging itself labels it a “drone”

I wouldn’t have a clue either way to be fair, all I know is my finger bloody hurt for about a week and I’ve never laughed so hard / been so concerned it would hit the power lines at the same time.

Rather than abducting people, aliens now just put cheap drones on ebay. They collect genetic samples then return to the mothership.

Hahahaha I saw one of the drones had some reviews. They said the drone flew away with the birds, had a mind of its own roflmao.

  • With sympathy to those who bought this, the reviews are hilarious. Would love to see some of these on YouTube.

  • So what are people buying these days?
Can someone recommend a cheap drone that does 1080 and has a follow me feature and can last at least 15 minutes?
Will a cheap drone do this or do i need to spend 1000's to get the right video out of them.
This will be used during our holidays so video of beaches , tracks in the forest and free camping areas.

      • yes looking at that. do I need a licence for it?

        • No. You don’t need a license for a Spark, unless your quad is over 2kg and you plan on taking photos and charging money for your services. But as of next year, you will need to be "accredited" to fly anything larger than 250grams, this includes the Spark (@300grams)

To read more about drones and licenses, see the CASA website

          • @pegaxs: I was about to get really mad, but it’s not one of those $500+ courses, just watch a video online. Though it still grinds my gears.

I hear there might be a sub 250g mavic mini on the way

            • @Athiril: It's the fact that they want you to register your drone and pay a yearly registration fee. The accredited operator cert lasts 3 years.

No one is going to register small drones and anyone with half a brain wouldn't register any.

    • How much you want to spend? The Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE is about $700, but it has 4K, raw photo, 33 min flight, 5km range

  • Anyone actually bought one of these? Ryze tello seems to be the only other prospect at this price point $150 at Amazon vs zero-x Hydra at $189.

Any advice on best choice round about this price point?
