  • Presumably factory refurbished given the 6 month warranty.

EDIT: apparently not! SANYO website states 6 month warranty also, That's a disgracefully short warranty!

EDIT2: half decent review from a Whirlpool user:

EDIT3: not so good review here:

I think the second review kills the deal for me. I'm looking for a DAB+ clock radio but I want a decent but not excessively bright clock as well as the DAB+ radio.. seems it's a hard combination for some reason! If I could, I'd keep my current Red LED clock and cut out the nasty buzzing analogue FM radio..

My clock radio was too bright so i went to a window tinting store and asked for any stuff they were going to throw away.

They gave me a small piece for free which i cut to fit my clock radio

  • seems like a good deal, what would the downsides be? Do you need better reception etc?

Well apparently the clock is pretty useless.. (according to the second review linked above)
and DAB+ is lower quality than FM (not noticeable with the tinny speaker included with this unit, but with proper speakers, the difference is discernable… primarily it's an AM replacement.
and it suffers from similar issues to Digital TV. unlike analogue you don't get a scratchy signal if you're in a "fringe" area for reception, you just get nothing at all. Even in good signal areas, you may need to have the antenna extended.

      • thanks, looks like this would be useless as a replacement :/

49 bucks for a DAB of what?

    • Is that supposed to be a joke?

DAB+ is the official terminology for the Australian Digital Radio standard. The title makes complete sense.

  • not sure about this one, but I got a cheapy Sanyo digital alarm clock/radio years ago and so far it has been great, it has the most accurate clock in the house that doesn't even lose a second after months have passed

Is it the same model as this one?
