  • 3D Display? I'd be surprised if that were true…

    • +2

I think in this case it means it supports 3D graphics for displaying the maps, not actually a 3D display (like the 3DS).

  • I'm guessing you'll have to uh, ' download' a third party GPS software and Australian roadmaps since this doesn't come with any preloaded?

I don't see any '+' (or, for that matter, '-') ticks, beside this "deal's" title…

Does that mean the even the -poster- doesn't thinks it rates a '+'…?

Are there any reviews of this puppy?

Has anyone got or used it?

I'd like to see & test it, before I decide… or read reliable reviews (plural) until I can. :-/

    • Does that mean the even the -poster- doesn't thinks it rates a '+'…?

Reps can't + their own deal

well, they CAN, but first they have to log off, register under a different name, then sockpuppet away to their heart's content

I have this EXACT GPS, you are welcome to ask me any questions.

I loaded iGO iPrimo with the latest Australian Maps and Text To Speech support.

Works perfectly, a little laggy because of the slower CPU but good enough for the price.

Edit: This is actually the same price I buy this in bulk for, +vote for sure.

    • Third Echelon gets a good deal huh?

  • Windows CE ?? are they still around? lol..

    • Yes, archaic embedded systems are still everywhere.

  • Good bang for your buck cheaper than buying new maps for my tomtom, my only complaint about these no name gps is the plastic isn't very heat tolerant I had a 5" version of this warp to shit after I left it on the dash at a day at the beach.

    • that was probably from someone trying to liberate it without unscrewing it….wtf would you leave a gps unit visible in the car @ the beach?

  • 7"! How would one of these compare to using an Android tablet like the MyTab?

Obviously this has the window mount and FM xmit included, and cheaper if you do not count the software.
Do you really want a window mount for a 7" though?

I have two mytabs, one for the lounge and one for no reason

    Do NOT buy this!

Let me share my delightable experience with this unit.

I bought one unit two weeks ago, thinking it was good value and highly customizable since there was a video posted on youtube about a Russian dude cooking up a home-made ROM to dual boot this GPS with Android and WinCE.

The screen is large and bright as advertised. The unit could run Igo Primo without a glitch, not snappy but acceptable.

    Guess what?
Its touch screen stopped working in just a couple of days.

I ended up with a brick.

    Money down the drain.

    End of story.

    • This is completely normal.

Anything from Dealextreme etc (basically a China warehouse) has a higher failure rate then what you buy here.

Its just one of the risks you take when you buy.

      • At least DX has some sort of warranty.
If it failed in a couple of days, they'd even pay for return postage.

How is focalprice for DOA or early fail refund?

        • focalprice has the same return policy.

I have returned something before, but either way Australia Post is too expensive.

        • I had problems returning to focalprice. Took many emails and pictures before they would admit that a line of faulty pixels in the middle of a screen was a problem. Then I had to pay return postage to get a refund.

    • no warranty?

  • …or china post is too cheap, they pay next to nothing for posting overseas, and some sellers know this fact and exploit this to their advantage!
as for leaving this on your car dash, smart idea, NOT! you want lowlifes/meth heads breaking into your car for quick cash?!

  • I would just get the Optus Tab/ Telstra tab for 100$. Use Google maps :) 1$ TPG simcard and your laughing

    • i just bought a my tab, and have tethered it to my samsung galaxy S, rather than have to pay extra for downloads, nor pay any extra monthly fee.

      Loving it !!
