Good deal. I have one and it’s been awesome. Have it paired with HomeKit.

    • what happens if the battery runs out?

      • +1

That’s why you put a leash on it, before it runs out.

Jokes aside, looking at the post one of the images shows you can charge it with a 9V battery from the outside.
So carry a 9V battery with you at all times? (Hoping it doesn’t cause a fire elsewhere).

        • that is a good design backup

you don't need to carry the 9v with you
just hide it somewhere outside your house..

also need to remember to wipe the keypad after each use
since there is finger print marks on the numbers that you pressed..
I saw that in a movie..

In terms of security most crooks just use a crow bar
to break the wood frame so most doors are not as secure as we think they are..

but this is not bad for convenience..
though a better model would be just use your fingerprint or iris to open the door
so don't even need to enter the pin code

          • @pinkybrain: I have 150mm 10G bolts holding my striker to the house frame and door frame. You’d have an easier time breaking through a window than trying to jimmy my door open. A thief will always find a way.

That said, I hardly touch the key pad, as I usually get Siri to open the door for me on command. But that might prove to be a whole new security threat….

      • I can just open the garage door and enter my house that way. But yes, you can open it with a 9v.
To give you an idea on battery life.
I’ve had mine installed for 9 months and I have yet to see the low battery warning. When I do, I’ll just swap the AA batteries out.

        • do you also have one those ring door bells
          and security cameras as well?

  • Just tried to price match with Bunnings. No dice. The two suppliers have slightly different product numbers. Sigh

I did a price match at bunnings in Melbourne (Western Suburbs). I had to go to a couple of bunnings. This is a special order so both were happy to price match but one did not offer 10%. try another store explain them trough the yale website that both are the same devices. at bunnings CR at the end is just represented chrome. good luck
