  • Have they closed the ETC waiver loophole for this now?

    • What's the loophole bro?

  • Great value, signed up yesterday.

Although on their CIS it only mentions 4G access, and after clarifying with Telstra you do not get access to their 5G network yet, but plans to give JBHIFI plans access later this year/early next year.

Something to keep in mind if you were interested in 5G.

    • Not that I care about 5G but its rather strange to control JB plans differently, I would have thought that JB is just a seller and network would be any standard Telstra plan…

      • Also a little bit misleading selling 5G capable phones with phones plans, you’d assume they would naturally come with a 5G network.

Hopefully it’s just a temporary thing.

  • Anyone know if it's worth asking telstra chat for $10 opt-in discount?

    • +1

the $10 port-in discount has apparently ceased.
I only did one telstra chat though (today, 18 August).
They were quite insistent about it. Did not offer anything else. just the usual telstra is better… coverage… network… etc.

      • Did you buy the JB plan first and then asked for port in discount or the other way around?

        • I haven't bought yet. I was enquiring before purchase. Figured that I would have more leverage that way. But no luck.

          • @dreamkilla: Ah ok, I thought you managed to get the discount :D

edit: Let me try my luck :D

edit 2: Nope, didn't work for me too. Damn!

      • I was just successful with the discount

        • Nice! How did you go about it?

  • I can't seem to port to Telstra from Belong and neither can my wife from Virgin.

We keep getting the following same error:

Sorry, we are unable process your order (sic). For assistance, please visit your nearest Telstra store.

    Any ideas?

    • Same issue here - I'm in a Telstra Post-paid plan already, started a chat and after asking me to try in different browsers they couldn't help either. The Telstra Chat suggested that I go into JB Hifi to upgrade to the plan.

    • I am getting same error. I was trying to use shopback then cashrewards.

I am going to go incognito tomorrow or clear cookies and try again.

Am a bit worried it's hitting my credit score each time I submit

  • iv tried a number of chat agents and havent been able to get it :(

  • Sweet, just signed the Mrs over from Voda, thanx op.

  • Dumb question, but where does it say the offer expires 25 August on the landing page? I want to sign up but not in the next week.

    • its been extended a few times on the jb site…

getting the $45 (one mth free) cashrewards got me to sign up

      • +1

getting the $45 (one mth free) cashrewards got me to sign up

What? Is there a $45 cashback on JB Plan? I will sign up NOW if there is one

        • I might be blind but I can’t find it- blindness cured, just found using ops link

        • not hard to find if you use the chrome plugin ;)

          • @spoonmugen: I just checked with TA and unfortunately JB Telstra plans are not eligible for cashback.

Not much to see, both CR and SB has confirmed that no cashback is applicable on JB plans as the commission goes straight to JB not CR or SB.

Telstra sent us that info in the OP, it's quite possible it's not mentioned on the landing page and/or it will get extended.

  • In the past, signing up with a cheap prepaid Optus/Voda sim then immediately porting in to Telstra wouldn't work - the JB rep would mention the 30-day minimum. Is that still the case? Does JB's system actually know how long you've been an Optus/Voda customer for?

    • That's ridiculous, a new number from Optus/Voda would work.

The 30 day restriction (which not all JB's were applying) was related to having to be off the Telstra network for 30 days if you wished to bring that number back with the deal.

  • Just placed order, got to a page with order confirmation and order number, but no confirmation email received…. is it normal that I have to wait till it is approved?

  • I was on the $65 plan through TGG

Managed to downgrade my plan to $45

Just contacted live chat about the discount and was successful.

    • impressive, I'd love to be able to do this. But my experience with the telstra chat reps hasn't been very successful.
      tips?

      • Lie to them, lol. Tell them that when you took up the only Sim plan that you we're advised about the discount. if they don't nudge, just tell them the person who was doing your contract on their end (Telstra rep) they told you about it. Should work

  • Has anyone ported out their Telstra service and tried taking up this deal the next day?
We know the JB reps sometimes insist on 30 days - but does the Telstra online system impose this? It’s not in the T&C’s so I’d be leaning towards not enforced.

Terrible experience. I ordered this deal online for my wife and I. We are currently both with Virgin Mobile and were wanting to port over to this deal. Everything appeared to be okay and sim cards were sent out quickly. We tried to activate both online as per instruction and could not. Online activation could not be done for both sims as the order numbers entered were "not valid". Obviously double checked order numbers and the order numbers were correct. The sims that were provided were also not registered against the order numbers. Which is worrying. As there was an activation issue, called Telstra and spoke to a consultant. I did mine and it is currently in the activation/provisioning process which is taking a very long time. In a separate phone call to Telstra tried to activate my wife's as it had the identical activation issue and could not be done online. Telstra told me they could not fix it as it was a JB Hi-Fi plan. I said that didn't sound right as I just did it for my own mobile on a separate account. They still said they couldn't and insisted I must purchase a $60 Telstra plan I said no. I said all I want is the JB Hi-Fi $45 BYO plan that we originally ordered and activate that. They said okay and said it has been sent to the other team to progress. I thought it was okay. After 5 minutes I thought to myself, this still seems odd. I called them back and spoke with someone else and explained what had occurred. Apparently there were errors in the order and they were happy to try and fix them. After back and forth on the phone they were still unable to fix the problem, so they said the fix was to cancel the order and redo it, that sounded fair provided they redo it with the exact same JB Hi-Fi plan that was originally ordered. I stressed this multiple times and they said that would be done. I was like yay, should be all fine now. A few minutes later a confirmation email came through and Telstra put my wife on a $60 a month Telstra plan not the $45 JB Hi-Fi one. I called Telstra back immediately to let them know they made a major stuff up. They said I had agreed to the $60 Telstra plan. I said no I didn't why would I do that? JB Hi-Fi offer a cheaper plan that fits my wife's needs and has a $200 gift card. I said this is wrong. Whatever happened you need to fix and cancel the Telstra order. They said yes that will be done. I said I want a copy of the Telstra cancellation emailed to me. They said sure. Cancellation email never came. My wife and I decided to go to JB Hi-Fi in person to try and fix. We should of ordered in person in the first place. They could not fix my wife's due to the "porting process". They suggested visit Telstra. Did that, they could not stop the process from their end. Called Virgin to stop port as the new plan was wrong. Virgin could not stop the port as they said it was already "in flight". 10 hours later neither my wife or I have an active JB/Telstra service. Hopefully they will both be active tomorrow so we can try and fix this massive stuff up. You know what the real kicker is? Fingers crossed that I get the $200 JB gift voucher as mine appears to be going okay, just taking a very long time to finalise. But my wife won't as it is now with Telstra directly once finalised and if we move it to JB Hi-Fi she is not eligible for the JB $200 gift card now due to being an existing Telstra customer which was from all these stuff ups. The plan for the two gift cards was to give them to our kids for Christmas as they are at that age were they like JB stuff, games, DVD's gadgets etc. Looks like that is not happening unless I'm able to work something out with sheer persistence. Long story short. Go in-store to JB if you want this plan to avoid the headache that is still haunting me past midnight. Wish me luck tomorrow in trying to resolve this. Rant over. :-\

  • Hi, can I use the Sim card into the Telstra pocket wifi? I remember I saw this question somewhere but couldn't find it.

Would like to use this as my home internet.

    Thanks

  • I contacted Telstra live chat, the dumb robots told me this is a JB only deal and I have to go in-store that they cannot do it via telstra chat? Can anyone confirm you can signup via live chat with telstra to this plan AND receive the $200 JB gift card?

FYI I hate Telstra reps with passion.

  • Why is this deal marked expired? its not yet expired… I confirmed its still available just called JB 5 mins ago.

    • +2

This Telstra deal expired yesterday, you can see the landing page is removed. This deal was directly through Telstra online.

You can get the same deal in JB still, that deal post is here.
