  • I've never used Rakuten before. Any reviews of there general shipping time and quality?

    • Rakuten isn't a shop. Like ebay or Aliexpress, it's just a platform for independent sellers.

Also, they regularly have bonus points deals (for your next purchase) and pretty high cashback (sometimes creeps us to 20% off)

Last time I bought a PS4 Hori joystick, and using EMS it arrives like within a week. Its packed really well.

Btw, only use EMS for high priced & heavy items as it comes with insurance. However its very expensive.

I never use the regular Japan Post so I can't comment on that, however I heard from others, they are generally very good, fast and highly rated quality.

So it depend on the sellers really. Often I bought stuff from Japan from different stores, I can tell you they do care a lot on how they pack their products. I never had any issues, it always arrives 100% no damages. They love their over packing lol.

  • Rakuten is doing some considerable expansion in Japan.

creating an entire new mobile network
teaming up with JD.com for marketing.

    very progressive.

  • Personally prefer just using the Rakuten Global Express service; this way you can buy stuff from Amazon JP, Rakuten JP, Yahoo JP auctions and all their domestic sites with more competitive prices and selections. Once in a while they do 50% off international shipping so that would be the best time to buy.

    • I signed in and they are asking me for a Japanese address first up? Any ideas why?
