  • Wonder what they would do on the new
Xiaomi phones, $99 with port in?

    • Will they be selling Xiaomi phones? I heard Optus were planning to sell them too…

      • +1

yes and vivo. its in the catalogue

    • Well the 'deal' is a $500 device credit, so the A3 would essentially be free as it's $499 in the catalague. The 9T is $699 so would be $199.

  • So we came back full circle. Does changing to Telstra M2M plan and canceling it trick still work?

    • +2

      Worked for me last week

    • Probably easier on the gift card than with a phone

    • -4

You'll now be charged the cancelation charges (ETC's) if moving from a JB Plan to a Telstra Casual plan.

      • Is this being negged because it's incorrect info or because it's not what people want to hear? Please comment…

        • Bit of both. Depends on who you speak to at Telstra.

        • +1

It's definitely correct info - I can't speak to what Telstra may do on the backend via chat/complaints but the new business rules as of a few weeks ago are that you'll be charged ETC's if moving from a contracted plan to a casual plan (aka JB Mobile to Telstra M2M)

    • Has anyone got the M2M plan change to work recently?

  • with Note10+, can we redeem free headphones with pre-order today too with this deal?

    • The retailers are supposed to be giving the AKG headphones. Samsung doesn’t get involved there. I am gonna be checking with local JB today.

      • -1

Most retailers have it on offer for orders until 22nd Aug (today). You should be able to get it.

      • What's the verdict?

      • No AKG with this offer. Checked that. No gift cards to be stacked apart from standard 5%.

  • +7

Gone are the days of going on a medium to high plan and getting the phone for free.

    • +1

Yeah no joke. These guys want you on a plan AND to front a thousand bucks for the pleasure.

    • +3

They were 24 month plans mate.

  • +2

What is the ETC it's something like $390?

If so for $600-$700 the Reno seems like a good deal

  • +1

Does anyone know if the $999 S10 note plus is the 5G version?

    • No it's the 256gb model

  • Can you still get this down to $49 per month in the live chat just like the plan that was offered in May?

    • This plan is retired, so no.

  • Any interesting plans for tablets or Ipads?

  • +2

    not a deal imo

  • Can anyone with the P30 comment on signal strength?

I have an LG G6 and my wife has a Nexus 5X. Both on Telstra, she has much better reception inside our house. I often found myself in blackspots where I would have no signal at all while hers was fine.

Considering jumping on this deal to get her a new phone, but don't want a downgrade on signal strength for her.

(I switched out to Vodafone to take advantage of these port in offers. Needless to say, I'm always in a blackspot at home now… lol).

    • +2

I have had one since it came out. Reception is great. There is a big blackspot where I work. Data was pretty much useless and calls used to drop out all the time. No such issues with the P30, haven't had a dropped call since getting the phone and data works much better. I'm on Optus. You won't regret getting one, it's a great phone.

    • mate I have the Lg G6 also and my wife has an Iphone. I cant receive any calls at home and she can. Never again with LG.

  • Do you also get the $300 JB gift card when signing up to the $65/mo plan as it says on another page in the catalogue? Or does it not stack

    • No doesn't stack 😁

  • What is the invoice value and can you claim TRS?

    • Yes can trs whole amount, even portion paid by jb with jbgift card

My last invoice showed full cost plus full gst, only paid with jb gifts cards and my remaining balance.

      • Thanks. Can the plan still be changed to month to month via online chat without paying penalty?

      • So if I'm right, that would knock off another $90 when going through TRS?

        • Even better! GST is based on full price $1699

          • @jassssone: So thats about $170 back? Dammmm thats temping, am heading overseas soon.
That or the Harvey Norman P30 for $65 deal… 80gig but 2 year contract. hmmmmmmm

            • @Sir Castic: Yes, that's beauty of JB-Telstra deal, also the phone is dual sim from JB compare to single sim from Telstra.

          • @jassssone: Is that what you can see on the invoice as well? If so you can utilize 28degrees' protection as well.

            • @rszirmai: Ok now I have to ask again, what can you do with the 28degrees protection? I've got the card and always keen on learning a few new tricks! :)

  • Do you get 5G included in these plans even though they're 4G devices? If so, does it run for the term of the contract (or post end date) as the cheaper Telstra M2M plans say it will be another $15/month after June 30 2020.

    • +1

Contacted live chat and they said not available on the JB plans currently, but possibly late this year/next year. The JB CIS also says 4G and not 5G.

      • Thanks!

  • Reno is stil 1199 now only 299 when sign up great deal omg.

    • Don't be confuse with the 10x zoom model.

      • +3

It is in fact 10x zoom model, which is on offer with JB-Telstra deal

  • Called JB and was told no pre order bonus for note, anyone else got a different information?

    • hmm..that's interesting. The pre-order promo ends today. It's a Samsung promo so not sure how would one claim it. Via online redemption or something like that?

  • Jb in Mel CBD will do 100$ gift card plus headphones. Suck part is they are back ordered 4 weeks.

Edit: they backed out at last minute. No deal.

    • Look like they have been informed by headquarter not to stack Telstra deal with pre order gift for note 10. I tried 2 stores at Sydney CBD and got rejected as well.

  • Tossing up between the P30 and the Oppo Reno. Leaning towards the P30 due to headphone jack and lower upfront price but interested to hear others' opinions on these two.

    • +2

Go for RENO, using it from last month or so. Great Phone.

You do pay $100 extra compared to P30, but u get more RAM (8gb vs 6gb) and Double the amount of storage (256gb vs 128gb)

      • +1

Thanks. I was lazy and assumed the Reno was the 128gb/6gb model instead of actually reading the specs. Bigger screen too…

        • +1

          No notch too

          • @OzSikh: Which has a better cam? I google Reno 10x vs p30 but they only seem to compare the 10x with p30 pro. Anyone have experience with or has a link to a good comparison review?

    • I was about to pull the trigger on the P30 until remembering the Trump/Huawei fiasco going on at the moment.

I'm worried about future access to security patches etc.

I've been Googling as much as I can but I'm still not 100% on how all this affects existing Huawei phones.

I know Huawei is developing their own "HarmonyOS" but I'm worried they'll just roll this out if the US bans them entirely.

It'd be like going back to Windows Phone, with no apps.

Can anybody in the know share anything to reassure me?

      • Huawei is not going anywhere, it's all about trade war, which would get resolve by the end of December this year.

        • Unless you are trump himself no one knows how long this trade war will go for.

          • +1

@ChickenAdobo: Following his twitter account to get the latest on world trade relations and Miley Cirus relations in the same post.

It really is a mad mad world.

  • Now to see if JB's would "backdate" the invoice so can still claim the Huawei watch! ok ok ok wishful thinking! :)

    • Photo shop?

      • Genus, but surely they check with JB over when it was purchased in the back end somewhere.

    • I think JB's P30 IMEI doesn't go through the check. Had two from them and both bounced.

    • Wasn't the watch bonus shut down because it wasn't a telstra or vodaphone store?

  • Does anyone know how they calculate the Early Termination fee?

    • It's 50% of the remaining contract fee.
      $65x12months=$780
Early cancel is 50% remaining plan so $390

  • I'm on boost at the moment. Can I still port in or does boost not count as not Telstra?!?

    • No Telstra mnvo

      • Dang.

  • Can anyone comment on the oppo Reno phone

How much could I sell it for? I'm doing some research

Is it a better deal than p30?

    • Much better than p30
But you won't be able to sell quickly as not many people like to pay 1000 for oppo

      • Maybe if it had oxygenos

      • That's what I was thinking. It is the Reno 5g with 10x zoom camera but (4G only)

    • I don't think its a better deal than p30, more like equal. Probably could sell it for $100 more than P30, as no one will pay 1k+ for Oppo.

Also I don't think Reno is better compare to P30, except for the storage and ram. Checked lots of reviews for both of the device last night, the Reno camera is no where near as good as P30 in most cases unless you need that 60x zoom(at this point the image quality is a potato).

      • +1

I m currently using Reno and I can tell you it's a lot better than p30. Much bigger screen and better viewing. As I don't really take photo I can't tell the difference. Their stock OS is okay I guess it's not the best. IMO if you are going to use urself I suggest take the Reno rather than p30.

        • yeah i was thinking reno for myself or p30 if selling.

I would have to sell the reno for $900 to $1k

        • I see. Maybe we just have different needs, for me Reno is too big and headphone jack on P30 is also a deciding factor for me as I don't have a wireless earphone.

The biggest camera quality between P30 and Reno is during the lowlight situation, but Reno make up for it with the crazy zoom that P30 doesn't have.

  • Has anyone successfully done a deal with JB and cancelled paying out the contract? No other hidden charges etc? Phone not locked in to Telstra network or anything? Just in case I need to cancel…

    • telstra know it already. i try to change to m2m but telstra want to charge me ETC$390

      • As long as it's just $390 for the contract and no other charges I'm cool with it.

      • Try a different agent on the online chat.
You want to get hold of someone who works part time and hasn't read the memos yet so try at odd hours of the night on a weekend

  • Has anyone had any luck claiming the watch deal with the p30? I would have thought that with JB being a Telstra dealer, you could claim the watch, but says my IMEI is not valid. Guess its a no go then.
