As a recent buyer of pretty much everything for a new PC build from Computer Alliance's eBay store, I had zero issues with the packaging. The motherboard, GPU, CPU and SSD all came in their original packaging, surrounded by thick brown paper wrap inside a bigger brown cardboard box (which did not reveal the contents). I was perfectly happy with this. I'd be amazed if anything could get damaged here given the original item inside can't move much and it has a huge shell of a box around it to protect it should something heavy drop on it or it gets thrown around.

Note that the only exception to above double packaging was the PC case which came in the original Cooler Master box with no additional protection.

  • Not the best price but mx master 2s for $90 will have to do as old mx performance has finally started to die.

  • That Lenovo Carbon g6 deal won't be coming back by the looks of it.

  • Pity the AU prices have gone up a bit.
Wonder if the RBA rate drop will boost the economy and lower AU prices this year?

I somehow doubt we will see a higher AUD anytime soon. If the current international drama gets worse we could very well see a much weaker $ = higher IT prices. The AUD is seen as a proxy for Chinas growth which does not bode well for us, and with any international drama/conflict our $ tends to drop when there is a "flight to safety". With somewhere between a third to half of government bonds at negative yield, not sure where that safety is to be found!…but it won't be here

Its rather insane how low interest rates are around the world, during what has been generally good times, and for 20+ years best times in Oz. You would think that low rates is a good thing — but over time its not, causes many issues and we have never gone into a recession with low rates already locked in. Just look at Japan over the last 30 years

Current conditions show how a small country like AUS struggles to set its own interest rates. Historically low rates is not good at this stage of the cycle, but the RBA knows it needs to keep the AUD from spiking up or their goes our exports, so we simply can't offer much higher rates than the big boys or too much money will flow in to take advantage and push up the $.

      • A Crucial MX500 256GB at end of July was $65.00 (without discount) and now is $79.00. That's a 21.54% increase. Have the Distributors suddenly increased by that amount OR is it the store? Its a lot over the space of a few weeks. I should have bought more back then!

I have bought from Computer Alliance for several times and so far it has been great. The price is the best when on sale and the delivery is so damn fast that it blows my mind.(1 day shipping for something without a battery, faster than Amazon Expedited delivery lol) However, I would like to echo what other's been said, the packaging could be better, or at least a paid option to add more padding.

  • Removing my +1 after realising how expensive these guys have become.

    • +2

      Link better deals then.

      • +1

I don't think you understand the premise of my comment. I don't need to, nor will I, link to better deals to choose to remove my vote.

I was looking at CPUs last night. A 2950X from CA eBay is $1,299 delivered or $1,195 delivered from PCCG (similar with Mwave, Scorptec, etc.).

Yes, it would be cheaper from CA with 15% off but it's not 15% off what the price of that CPU should be. The percentage saving is only around half of what they are advertising.

Promoting a 15% off sale is disingenuous and somewhat misleading when your prices are so high to begin with.

I have previously purchased from CA and found them to have (had) very competitive prices and good service so this is a shame.

          PCCG delivery costs are ridiculous

also bought a metalicgear neo case off them, they took their sweet ass time and then eventually sent what i suspect was a returned/opened box product

          PCCG go can $%@# themselves

as for pc alliance, you do realise that eBay takes ~10% cut and paypal another 3% cut, i am sure with their volume they'd get a better percentage but it'll still be around 10% - if you want to compare prices then go to the website or compare eBay listings from other retailers with the eBay markup

looking at mwave, who are competitively priced, bx500 240gb is $48, on CA eBay its $49 - not including the discount or the benefit of eBay plus, or the better service/quick dispatch

          • @desync: Sorry……..have moved comment further up!

        • Yes we all know there is an increase of prices but the 15% off is, like you said, cheaper than PCCG. Plus PCCG don't offer free postage, so there's another saving.

Have you guys been given an ETA on the next batch of 3900X stock replenishment?

Anyone getting a re-direct to ebay's home page when clicking on any of the shopping categories?

    • Yeah, same issue here.

I had better luck with this

    • Yeah, none of the links work for me and just take me straight to the homepage.

Seems like everything is marked up compared to brick and mortar stores like PCCG and Scorptec.

I place a $4K order today. The same parts at PCCG came in about $80 cheaper.

15% off plus free shipping meant a saving of over $500 compared to current prices at PCCG.

      • Yeah a lot of things end up being a bit cheaper than pccc with the code. But the shipping being free makes it way cheaper than pccc.

  • Picked up a Seagate IronWolf 8TB for a mere $313.65 minus $3.13 cashback so around $310. Best deal I could find anywhere.

  • Trying my luck here - in and amongst the busy day, any chance I could get an Asus MB16AP ebay listing from you guys?
Very keen to pick one up… =D

  • looking to get some parts to build another PC, do you combine shipping or $15 per item?
If you can combine how to I mark my ebay cart etc?

    • I actually bought multiple items over two days in multiple orders (due to eBay codes) and they all came in separate packages - I'm not sure if this is a requirement under eBay seller protection. Cleverly enough, everything came at the same time but that might've been StarTrack's doing.

  • Finally upgraded my i5 4670k to a 9400F.

I know the Ryzen 5 3600 is a better upgrade but $400 vs almost $600 is a big difference for me (this is for cpu, ram, and motherboard).

  • Got any of them cheap 2080tis left? Says out of stock but I know in the past you rationed them due to other stores buying em

  • I'm pretty happy with this deal. Over the weekend, bought an MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon and a couple of RGB RAM sticks. Upon request, they agreed to upgrade the motherboard for my Ryzen 3600. One happy customer here alright.

  • I'm considering to buy enough parts for a system. How do I see the final delivery price at the cart/checkout?

Basically I need to be able to see the final price, including delivery to make final decision.

    Thanks.

Isn't this feature built into eBay? (or free if you are on eBay Plus)?

      • Ok, thanks. I've never buy that many items from same vendor with various weights so not sure how it's gonna pan out.

        I'll give it a try

        • +1

Unless you're trying to do them all in separate transactions to maximise the coupon codes or something… but that's a different story. I personally just did it in an Excel spreadsheet.

  • Purchased the 3700X from Computer Alliance eBay.
    Now looking for
    1. G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 3200MHz CL14 (2x16GB sticks, not sure if quad channel memory is supported? If so, then 2x8GB instead)
    2. MSI B450 Mortar (or Tomahawk Max) MAX (BIO flash not required?)

Pity Computer Alliance don't carry these…
