      TRS is not a bargain.

      My TRS-80 was…

Let's see if the price drop to $500 :)

    • Hahaha ok I shall wait

  • Thanks OP, great find

Looks like Huawei prices are in free fall!

Mate 30 release date is next month.

      • +1

Yeah the Mate 30 is coming late September so this is a natural price drop. With the P30 out that will make the Mate 20 two iterations old. So honestly I'd peg the value of this phone closer to $600 today. It'll probably be there in a month anyway.

I myself am waiting for the Mate 30 Pro. Time to splash out on a top end flagship phone for the first time ever.

        • -1

          Not worth it.

        • +1

It will only one iteration old. P30 Pro uses the same SoC hardware, only differing in screen resolution (Mate is actually higher), camera and chassis.

        • Won't the Mate 30 Pro be running their in-house O/S. As it won't be running Android? First Gen O/S, ain't going to be pretty…

          • @rzkman: Nah that was a bluff, it's coming with Android. No way did Huawei want to release a flagship running a buggy OS, it was an absolute last resort and the recent USA tariff extension just locked in Android.

      • +1

Correct! But most people would prefer their phones to hold value in case you want to sell and upgrade. If new one is selling for $715, I guess used phone will go under $500 for someone who spent a lot of dough less than a year ago.

        • I'm looking at getting the Mate 30 Pro as soon as it's available, I've been putting aside tax-free fringe benefits for the last 3 months and have $1500 sitting in an offset account ready to go. However if they mess the Mate 30 up somehow, I can fall back to the P30 Pro which should be around $1000 by then and still have a brilliant camera. The camera is what I care about most. So if it's not a noticeable step up I'll save myself $500.

What you say about the economy of a Huawei is spot on and with the uncertainty ahead it could even be amplified, but each each I allow myself a $1500 gift to myself, last year it was a PC upgrade, this year it's a phone, I get 2-3 years from a phone so it's not a big deal to me.

    Huawei Mate

    Nah, Vanuatu Mate…

  • +4

I would have bought a Huawei, but the fact it has proprietary external storage has put me off. Like Sony and their M2 days, then they had the sense to revert back to the standard.

From what I'm reading with huawei and their issues with the SD community, they won't be using the SD standard anytime soon.

I've been happy with my v40 purchase though, would have been purfect if they had a larger battery.

For me, 128g is more than enough, can't live without 2 Sims though.

      • +3

For me 128gb is perfect for games / apps and the Os. For photos I like it on an SD card.

        • +2

I'm the opposite. I'd trust the phone storage with my photos more than I would an SD card. Also, phone storage is now faster than SD storage.

      • +1

I have a 128GB phone that has two years worth of data on it and I still have 92GB free.

What do people do with their phones? Haha.

        • +1

Some like to have the whole photo library on the phone, it's convenient to look up, but I prefer keep a copy in google photo and move the originals to a hard drive :)

    • I wasn't happy about that, but then came the SD issue, now I understand amongst other things, they can predict futher.

  • just purchased from Mobileciti 1 hour ago, it's time to refund and get this one unless they can do price match0

    • which color is that?
it seems they (all shops) only have black

    • Same here! I just asked Allphones if they can refund the difference.

    • +1

Same here , please let us know how it goes

    • +1

That sucks. I purchased yesterday from mobileciti too. Looks like they aren't keen on doing any price matching given that sydneymobiles are out of stock. How many units did they have? 5? Next I will just purchase the lower price one and refund the other one. It hasn't even been delivered yet…ggrrr

      • that's what I'm going to do next time,
I just purchased another P30 lite from sydney Mobile rather ask Mobileciti to do price match

  • No, Lucky, don't won't price match since the product has been sold out.

  • That was quick

  • +2

There will be more at a cheaper price soon..

  • Mobileciti should price match should try and be competitive, I'm been upset, does not matter, I'm trying to get another company to price match something, its getting someone at the price its worth.

    • +1

They didn't match the price, ever they are same company

      • True dat, they would not price match against Sydney mobile, a lot of people were complaining about paying $777 a day or 2 ago, thanks to another competitor, helps bring the prices down again.

      • Went down to $706 now, you'll see it under $700 in a few days time.
