  • This is an awesome deal. We took the family up to the GC twice last year and spent the majority of the time switching between parks.. terrific value.

Fantastic deal but the downside is it's hard to get a a quiet day at one of the parks as everyone has a pass. Even wet and wild is busy in winter on weekdays.

Atmosphere baby! nothing is more creepy than an empty amusement park

has to be a good balance - not too many people (crowded/waiting), and not too few (creepy clowns could come out of every corner).

just like going to a restaurant for me, ur pissed when its crowded and u feel weird when the place is empty :)

  • Good deal yes, but 'normal' now. Dreamworld has their latest $99 offer up too: http://www.dreamworld.com.au/Visitor-Information/Unlimited-E…

They give 13 months for $99 :) If you have kids though the normal 2 year pass is actually cheaper than the $99 pass at Dreamworld, assuming you want to go both years of course.

    • Thats only for Dreamworld not including whitewater world $169 for both parks

      • Says TWO PARKS UNLIMITED ENTRY $99.99… $169.99 is for two years (until 21 June 2013)

      • Well actually they have changed the page since i linked to it this morning.
Originally it was only a 13 month offer for $99, and thats why I said if you have kids you can go to their normal order page and order a normal 2 year pass and it would cost less than $99 a year.

Since then they have added a new $169 2 year pass, on the front page they have the dates wrong but if you click through it is a 2 year pass. That was added in the last 2 hours.

It should still be noted that the normal 2 year pass for kids is $182.00 but that does give 15% off food and photos too, so might still be more economical in the long run. (RACQ card holders get 10% off food I believe but not photos.. and free early entry too)

One final thing is the first year Dreamworld ran this offer it was in repsonse to MyFuns 1 year pass but they started late and ran it from October(ish) 2009 and not the normal financial year. When our passes came up for renewal in October 2010 they sold a 1 year pass for $69 to those renewing. No idea if they will be doing that again this year.

It is great value to buy the annual pass as compared with normal entry fees but I am inclined to neg this deal because it is a far worse deal than they offered last year. I may be a bit bitter and twisted but last year you could buy a QLD VIP family pass - 2A,2C for $300 basically $75 each. This year they refuse to offer that - so to renew for a family of 4 you are essentially paying $100 more than last year. If I am going to pay the same I am inclined to take the Dreamworld offer as that is better value for money (13 months). Hopefully the lines are shorter too — Movie World in particular is packed and despite spending a day there - my kids might only get on a handful of rides after queuing for over an hour at each of them. Let's not mention the White Christmas debacle last year at Movie World where the police had to be called to turn people away every night as it was overfull before the gates even opened — people had travelled from all around the region with little kids in tow for nothing. Why pay $100 more this year for the same privilege? I'm over it.

    • Perhaps when we hit July 1 they will all offer the QLD locals deals again too, I for one would wait and see what comes.

  • We went to Dreamworld last Friday (last day of school) and it was pretty quite No lines more than 5 mins and we had practically all of White Water World heated areas to ourselves. I think people would be crazy to go during school holidays. here's crazy traffic and queues even before you get into the actual park!!

    • haha likewise

went to DW on monday(2 days ago)
lines were long as(esp the Tower of Terror)

But the cyclone stopped during its rides o.0

  • Do these passes have our names on it? Cause i was wondering…
Can i buy them then pass them onto friends etc.?

    • They are not that silly. The passes have your name and your photo on it - it is like an ID card that they make for you at any of the parks - you have to get it made within a period of weeks after you activate your pass.

  • i had one for the 09-10 year. will i qualify for the $99 renewal?

  • All the parks will be even busier his year as the passes are for anyone. Used to be for locals only.
What they should do for everyone's benefit (theirs aswell) is put a calendar for VIP members only which lists the busiest and quietest days of the years based on history. This would increase traffic on the quiet days.
