    Price in the title please

meh what is the point of going to dreamworld the river rapids ride is no longer there, and the only good ride they have is the giant drop the rest are kids rides

Dream world is more like Dreams faded.

      • "What's the point of closing a ride where people died? Where's the fun, where's the excitement?"

        • -5

only NSW people care about that. No Queenslanders ever died at dreamworld.

      • +1

The best of the GC theme parks IMHO. Steel Taipan, Gold Coaster and MotoCoaster are definitely not kids rides. It has the best variety for mixed age groups. If thrill rides are all you want, then go to WB Movie World, but aside from the rides the theme park experience is pretty mediocre. If you want a mix of rides, entertainment and character meets to keep the whole family entertained, then DW is the best pick. Annual Pass also gets you access to White Water World, which has many of the same rides as Wet n Wild, but newer and usually with shorter waiting times. The only thing I miss from Wet n Wild is the lazy river.

    30% off $99 is $94?

    • It’s a up to 30% off code, @OP

  • +2

Cheaper than the local pass if anyone was wondering. Wonder why they would not offer better value to locals? :o

    • +12

I assume they live closer and probably will over utilise it vs somone who has to catch a flight to qld

      • +6

But Cairns is about the same distance away as Melbourne is.

Maybe they should split the place into two states?

        • +1

Just give the Gold Coast back to NSW.

        • Really, hard to believe

        • +1

Had to look this up. It's slightly quicker driving and flying from Mel to GC.

    • +1

Pricing strategy to attract interstate customers (they won't be able to use as frequently so are more price sensitive). Locals can more easily take advantage of an annual pass, so would be willing to pay more.

      • +8

It's kinda poorly thought out though, because a NSW resident from Tweed Heads who lives 40 minutes away can get it, but someone from Cairns can't get it because they're considered likely to be using it more often cos they're in the same state.

        • +1

Maybe to do with fact that NSW population who lives within relatively short driving distance to Dreamworld is probably a lot smaller than the QLD population. Gemini AI tells me 4.1m people live in Brisbane+Gold Coast+Sunshine Coast - these 3 regions are all around 2 hours or under drive to DW. Not sure how many NSW residents live within 2 hours of DW but doubt it's anywhere near 4 million.

    • Dreamworld currently has buy 3 get 1 free for locals. Four annual passes for $378, if I’m not mistaken. Although it’s fairly difficult to work out the price due to the number of different passes available.

Is your Dreamworld about to end?

    • +6

Take my reply with as much reliability as Mr AI, but that would be rules that apply to governments, legislation and regulation, not private entities.

      • -1

What would Mr Ai say if I only offered this deal to Rangas because I like Rangas, do the same rules apply we're really entering a slippery slope here

        • +1

Go to the dreamworld website and you will see different categories of tickets/passes based on location. There is already a discounted locals rate. What has probably happened is groupon might have a certain quantity of non-local passes that they are clearing out at a discounted price.

        • FREN!!!!! (pls don't tell the others I am a Ranga)

  • +10

Promo code BRANDNEW brings it down to $89.10 per ticket for new users. Hmmmmmm

    • Nice one thanks

  • +2

Lol @ discriminating against own state

    • +2

we don't take kindly to folks who don't take kindly.

  • +3

What if I identify as not living in QLD?

    • valid photo ID is a requirement - they may check address.

      • Wtf. Deal to get your ID card. Genius

      • +1

An Australian passport is a valid photo ID and doesn't contain your address.

  • Thanks Op. Perfect for the gold coast visit in early October

  • Isn’t that $150ish for 3 worlds 5 days would be better value? As most of us just go there once per year

  • Any good deal for local Qld?

    • +1

They don't have to live down south?

  • +1

This is properly insane. Here's a deal for people we know don't live in the state so won't take advantage of our 'deal'. "Interstate" deals, Why don't I just prepay for LA parking tickets too just in case I visit Venice beach one day.

  • Decades since I went to DreamWorld. All I temember is a paddlebost and a koala figure playing a piano, along with a log ride and Imax Theater. Much changed?

    • +1

      Was there this week.
Ignoring little kid activities (have older kids)

      • Steel taipan is decent
      • Serpent slayer (at full speed) is good (though after the second time you may feel nausea )
-Jungle rush is ok (though the wait queue made if hard to justify)

Everything else got the 'boring' comment compared to what they had seen/done at movieworld/seaworld.

You can really feel a difference in park upkeep, staffing/operational efficiency etc compared to village parks (and that's saying something as this was mid week and they weren't exactly pumping the queues through)

      • Did they do tail spin and try to get a record number of spins? I tried.

      • how were little kid activities knowing you may have just noticed them from distance?

        • +2

Half the park is little kid rides and all the shows and other character stuff is all aimed at "wiggle" aged kids

I think you'd get more "value" with younger kids than older.

          • @SBOB: user name checks out

How is Dreamworld nowadays anyway? Haven’t been since the 80s and heading to the GC in a few weeks with the kids. Worth it?

    • +1

How old are the kids? Do you enjoy roller coasters?

Heaps of new stuff since the 80s.

      • 11 and 13. We enjoy roller coasters. Just not sure $400 for the 4 tickets will be worth it, if it’s just a few rides and the usual concern over wait times during school holidays.

  • Awesome deal, and a great theme park. The Giant Drop one of my all time favourite rides.

  • Don't stress about the locals. They know the tricks to get in for free.

    • One pass for all of your ethnic group?

    • please share these tips!

    • Wait! How?

      • Hole in the fence.

anyone know if you stacks with the buy 3 get 1 free?

  • +1

Can anyone who's purchased this tell us the expiry date?
I know the pass is valid for 12 months after redemption, but I'm hoping to redeem it in July 2026. The T&Cs don't say how long you have to redeem it.

    • +1

Not sure if it helps / if it's the same for this one from Groupon, but I bought one via the RAC last week, and it has to be redeemed within 12 months (10 Sep 2026).

  • Still couldn’t pay me to go again.

  • How does it compare to movie world?

    • Dreamworld is generally better for families with younger kids, offering a wider mix of attractions including animal encounters and gentler rides, but it also features a few solid thrill rides like The Gold Coaster, MotoCoaster, Big Drop and Steel Taipan. Dreamworld also has better overall park maintenance, a cleaner appearance, and a wider variety of food options. Movie World is more popular with teens and thrill-seekers because it has a larger number of thrill rides (mainly roller coasters). DreamWorld Annual Pass will usually also get you into White Water World (if you buy the right pass), which is good for the hotter months. Your choice really depends on the age group and ride preferences of your group. I am not a huge roller coaster fan, I like to do one or two when I visit a theme park, so WB is a bit much for me because thrill coasters are pretty much the only thing they do well.
