    Anything on the 75" version?

    • +1

      Or the r7?

      • At this price why would you go R7? A cheap R7s still 1250 to 1300.

Have a look, let us know

      • Tried. Can’t even access their website at the moment.

        Anyone else getting:

        • Seems that JB Hi-Fi blocks its website from foreign IPs. Sigh. Just want to be able to shop while overseas.

  • Any reviews?

    • Have a look at https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/product/hisense-2019-series-8-r…

And also ready through the 65P8 comments/reviews within past posts on Ozbargain. The 65R8 was the 2018 model while this one is the 2019 model.

I have this one myself and am happy with quality vs price paid.

      • You mean the P is the 2018 version.

I'll check out the review, thanks.

      • Looking at that review it sounds like it's a decent compromise for $1500, but at $3k you'd go for something better. I'd rather keep the other $1500 in my pocket to be honest. Hard to tell how this compares to a 7 year old Sony, and until that breaks i'm probably going to stick with that.

  • Can anyone explain how a TV is Dolby atmos? Do TV's need to be specifically compatible with Dolby Atmos? I thought it was based purely on your speakers/amp.

    • +2

It means it can pass through the dolby atmos signal

  • +1

FFS bought this a week ago for $1585.

Great TV for the price, only had it a week but loving everything I’ve thrown at it. Came from a 10 year old 50” Panasonic Plasma.

    • +2

Coming from a ten years old TV,of course you gonna love it

      • +6

Not that straight forward. Plasma's show much better blacks than LED TV's. In fact Free To Air channels probably look better on my old Plasma but 4K is just stunning on this.

        • +1. FTA on my old 720p Panasonic plasma looks better. But 4k content on my Hisense looks fantastic.

          • @Maz78: +2. I think most people would watch FTA more than 4K content.

          • @Maz78: Are you referring to the HD channels on FTA or on the SD channels?

        • Im sorry, i dont watch SD content any more.

Also, FTA channels maybe look better on the old CRT tvs too. Wanna make an argument that they better?

  • Edge or backlit?

  • QLED?

    • +1

QLED - Quantum LED. Yes this t.v. is.

  • This or samsung series 7?

  • +4

Bought mine a week ago. JB would not budge a cent below $1800. I tried two different store's. Only Harvey Norman got close to the eBay prices at the time. Pulled the trigger at $1650.

Under $1500 is a great price. The TV is great so far.

    • So this is a great deal. Thanks.

  • waiting for the 75inch to go back on sale again, missed it when it was on sale ebay smh, if anyone finds the 75inch r8 hmu

  • This or LG 65SM9450PTA SM94 Series?

  • This or LG 65 8100 OR 8600?
Im considering these also anyone knows hows it compare to magic mouse of Lg os ?

    • +1

All LG's beside the OLEDs are IPS crap.

The Hisense would eat the lot of them for breakfast.

    • If you are asking specifically about the OS then LG OS is the best out there

  • Where is H9F?
    Is it happening?

  • Anyone have luck negotiating free delivery on catalog specials such as above?
Couldn’t find much info online about this, been a while since buying from jb

  • Stock looks a bit low atm, hopefully more become available before this deal goes live.

  • These contestant price drops are getting ridiculous for a TV with a RRP of $2999 and release date of just over 1.5 months ago.

I kinda feel a bit bad my JB staff price of $1600 a month ago is not such a great price anymore. But I’ll survive :)

    Thx for posting OP

  • Can also look for Samsung RU8000 65" 2019 model. $1,520 after 20% off ($300 off) with code PAPA20. Not sure though which is a better TV between the two.

    • +1

Need to be aware the 2019 model RUs are noticeably worse than 2018's NU series.

      • and how about comparing RU8000 with R8?

        • I would personally go for R8 since RU8000 is a retrogression of NU8000 in almost all perspective while R8 made up several weakness of P8 with the same good panel
          - Added Amazon Prime Video
          - Added voice control
          - 2HDMI 2.0 -> 4HDMI 2.0
          - Better speakers

          • @Meovel: Agreed. Also don't reward Samsung for releasing a downgraded product. It's absolutely pathetic.

  • which one is better ?

    Samsung Series 6 Q60 65" 4K UHD QLED TV or Hisense 65R8 Series 8 65" 4K UHD Smart LED TV ?

Just ignore the price, which one is better ?

Is Quantum dot display means QLED ?

    Just tossing between the two.

    • Q60 is not that great. I think that and this would be comparable

  • +1

They changed to an 8bit panel in the R8 versus the 10bit panel that was used in the P8. I don't understand why considering the R8 now does dolby vision.

    • I noticed this too and thought it was strange?? Anyone got any thoughts on this?

      • Well pretty sure Quantum dot colour panels are 10bit but then the specs sheet contradicts that statement. But being quantum dot display I'd bet it be 10bit, otherwise it doesn't make sense why they would create an 8bit quantum dot display just for the R8.

        • +1

I've contacted Hisense for some clarification on this as yeah it is pretty contradicting.
I suspect it is actually an 8-bit display and that some fancy software combination of FRC and quantum dot make it a synthetic 10bit colour range…

Anyway I'll post back here if/when they get back to me.

          • @Andy112: I suspect the same, looking forward to the confirmation!

    Seen at harvey norman.

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/hisense-65-inch-r8-4k-uhd-ul…

Same price as the above deal and $59 delivery.

  • +6

FYI, If you push the salesperson (at Harvey Norman) you can get the 65R8 for $1425. I've just put a deposit on mine at that price and collecting on Saturday Morning.

  • +1

Get it on Bing Lee eBay for $1415 with code PIZZAPIE

  • What's VIDAA U 3.0 AI like? Lots of apps, buggy or not, how does it compare to other OS? I'm guessing no Kodi, no Kayo, only the basics? Hisense TVs in the US mostly run Android TV, which gives access to a truck load of apps, not sure why not here.
