I reckon I'd pay the extra $20 and get the RX570 instead

Although it is the MSI version of the RX570 which I believe is notorious for running hot

The AMD cards of this vintage are run very hot and are power-hungry. The 1050ti is a great card for smaller cases, especially those cheap ex-commercial PCs where space and power are limited - they can run straight from a PCIe slot, rather than needing a PSU connection.

      • +2

shame its not low profile though… they breath a whole new lease of life into the dells…

Emphasis on 'can', as some models do not run on power from the PCIe slot alone, so check this model or for details.

Personally I'd wait for small Navi or save up for a 1660/Ti.

      • if that the case. you might as well wait for AMD to release the 5600 or 5500 XT card. There were rumours that no 6pin power socket needed. So save your money and this card and Polaris are ancient in tech terms.

        • AMD did it with polaris with the 560, so probably. But I'm doubtful that'd be on a 5600 series.

Would be a hell of accomplishment if they did get 570 - 580 levels from 75w though.

I have the 8GB RX570 for Davinci Resolve 16 4k video processing. So far so good.

1050ti not worth it at all. Spend the little extra on an rx570 and get way better performance https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti-vs-…

  • I believe the rebranded RX 400 and 500 series will be released in the next few weeks. I'm holding out until then. The RX 570 stock is dismal.

    • What is this rebranding that you speak of?

      • RX 600 Series SKUs have been been spotted in driver updates recently. Likely just a rebranding on the RX 500 series like what was done to the RX 400 series.

        • RX 600 was announced tmk, and is OEM exclusive (the real low end skews, as in 550 and 540 low)

The polaris replacement will likely be Navi.

          • @N1NJ4W4RR10R: Ah. That's right. Only the low-end cards are rebranded.

They plan to release RX 5600 (Navi 12) or RX 5500 (Navi 14) to replace the RX 570 and 580.

See PCGamesN. I'm sure I read somewhere they will be released next month.

            • @edathor: TMK it hasn't been confirmed. But realistically it may as well have been. It's just down to when it's most optimal for AMD to release them.

  • Good price on full size card
