                    • @Meovel: My post was referring to the scratch and win cards they’re giving out.

                • @Garbotoxin: no, stated in the t&cs.

    • On the back of the gift card they put my credit onto the last time I traded in it says no expiration. The deal however is 4 days only.

  • Wow really good deal. Thinking of trading in my PS4 slim and upgrade to a PS4 Pro hmm..

  • +1

msged eb asking how much trade in for a 1tb ps4 they replied sorry we cant take consoles not on the list wut lmao

    • lmao what really? i wonder what kind of logic that is

      • ye weird i also asked 1tb xbox one s cant take that either lmao

    • That’s a real shame. I have an original Xbox One Elite with the 1TB SSD. EB rep on their Facebook chat said I could trade it in but would just fetch the $150 for the 500gb standard model.

      • Thats what I figured they would just say instead of not taking it at all lol

      • i was told no from ebgames on twitter

        • Wouldn't be surprised if some stores allow it and others don't, though dunno if I wanna part with the Elite unit for $150..then again I've not touched it in about a year and doubt I'd get more on eBay or Gumtree

    • They told me 240…

      • Told you that for what?

  • +2

I still have ps2 n ps3 in the garage that would make it ps5 :)
    Good deal op

    • -3

      no
      thats PS23

    • Haha If you combined the two it would make a ps0, I could just imagine the non working Frankensteins monster that it would be.

  • +1

Why would u sell ur switch for $270 store credit if u can sell it on ebay or fb or gumtree for more?

Im looking for swithc but cant find decent one under 250!

    • +1

Also depends on your current EB World level status. I would receive a bonus 20% and get $324 credit as I'm a level 4 member.

      • That is crazy! I would make a profit by trading in my Switch which I have had for over 12 months and paid $315 for during the Ebay Plus launch.

Makes the upgrade to the new version of the Switch a lot more palatable.

How hard is it to get an EB Games card to the max level? I could just ask a mate to do the trade-in for me if I cannot do it myself.

EDIT Looks like you need 9,500 carrots worth to get to level 4 (max level) of the EB Games loyalty card.

    • +3

if u can sell it on ebay or fb or gumtree for more?

Time, fees, lowballers, scammers, payment issues and among other issues. Lots of things can go wrong and for the average person who doesn't want to faff about, it's far quicker and painless to take it into EB for a lower price.

    • +3

      It's a matter of convenience.

I don't mind losing out on an extra $20-$50 if it means I don't have to deal with knob jockeys trying to lowball on an agreed price or having to pay seller fees.

  • is it only the console that's required for trade-in or the controller as well?

    • +1

      Controller too.

    • +2

      https://www.ebgames.com.au/trade-and-save/what-can-i-trade

Generally a console trade in should have all the cables and the controller it came with at purchase, however I did agree to not trade the controller and lost something like $20 value for the trade. This was more than a year ago.

I don't know what it depends on, but it is always best to call your local store beforehand.

    • +1

This is answered by the Rep above. Unit, controller, power cord, HDMI cable all required.

    • +2

At these prices it’ll be Controller, power cable and maybe a HDMI cable. That said in the past you can trade in without a controller and they’ll reduce the price by $20 or $30 or similar to account for the missing hardware.

  • $230 for a fat ps4 is a good deal!

  • Have a mate who put a PS4 to one side and bought a PS4 Pro, as the wireless card in it seemed to fail (can’t connect to WiFi at all, though he did very little troubleshooting). Reckon they’d know if he tried to trade it? Not even sure it’s definitely an issue. It otherwise looks as new…

    • That's a shit go!

      • Haha it is, but I think he wanted the excuse to upgrade. Honestly no idea if it was a permanent issue or not, I just remember him telling me about it a while ago. I was going to let him know about this deal..

        • +1

          Best to call and ask.

If your console is not in working, complete, or resalable condition - we may still be able to trade it. Ask at your local EB Games store or contact our friendly customer service team on 13 39 30 for more information.

  • -1

Does anyone know if the controllers have to be original manufacturer or is it possible to trade in a 3rd party wired controller?

  • -5

Any EB reps here who can tell me how much trade value does a ps4 Pro have that has disc drive issues (won't load games without a soft thump on top of the machine in juuuust the right spot, without the thump it won't load (shows unrecognised disc)…..it's a royal pain)?

It's one of the original Pro's (that sound like a jet engine when they crank up) if that makes any difference.

    • +2

Almost be cheaper to swap the drive out yourself and sell it working, wouldn’t it?

      • +1

Possibly, never really considered it, but good suggestion, cheers.

    • +4

Give it the thump them carry it verrrry carefully into the store for them to test/trade?

      • Clever suggestion :) Even if I could do something like that though, I'd rather be upfront with them about it's condition.

    • For anyone in a similar position to myself, I've been advised the current trade value (for a PS Pro with the common optical drive issue) from EB Games is $150.

  • will get $264 for a 6 year old machine :)

  • Why does this deal happen when xbox one x are back over 600 new. Couldn't it of happened back when they were 450-500 ;(

  • Trade now, buy new Black Friday?

    • What are going to play until then ?

  • Do they need the box as well?

    • Nah, I have dropped off a console in a Coles shopping bag before.

      • +1

Great! I was just in the middle of putting mine in Coles bag too!

  • +3

I feel like I miss the boat on trading in old consoles because I don’t want to lose my digital purchases :(

looks at corner of boxes of Ps2, Wii U, Wii, X360 x2, ps3 slim

    • Digital purchases are tied to the account.
Unless you mean you don't want to download them again, or on the rare occasions they've pulled games from the store and you have one of those?

      • +1

With the exception of XB360, the other consoles require the consoles to play due to lack of backward compatibility. So, if he were to sell those old consoles, he won't be able to play those games despite owning them digitally.

Even XB360, it's not that XB1 can play all XB360 games. I was thinking about picking up some XB360 games cheap, had to print out a list of games which can be played on XB1.

        • Wii U would play Wii games also. Wii's only handy then if you want to play GameCube as well.

          • @Smigit: Well, then jace88 can sell that Wii. I recently sold my Wii, $12 EB credits + bonus credits. It was either that or e-waste collection point.

        • This.

There's too many things which aren't backwards compat eg NFS:MW (OG), Kinect games (AFAIK? but I don't have new Kinect anyway), etc…

And the other consoles have a lot of digital purchases :( Makes me appreciate Steam.

          • @jace88: Hahaha, you lost me at kinect games.

But seriously, while most seem to love the digital delivery system, a lot can be said for physical media.

I know I don't have time for half of todays games I want to play, let alone plugging in old consoles to replay nostalgia, so selling the consoles also allowed me to receive some coin from my game purchases. The same can't be said for a digital account.

            • @2023: Some of those old / classic games bring back some fond memory.

Also, it doesn't necessary means all digital games (no physical at all). It can make sense to get some digital games (esp. those you want to keep). You could get them when they were cheap or they are simply part of the 'free' games collected (PS Plus, XB Live Gold). So, it could mean keeping old consoles so those free digital games can still be played.

Don't forget the EB V-Bucks promotions in the past. You get extra $10 digital credit for PS or XB store per game traded. You can end up being better off buying digital games.

            • @2023: My wife enjoys the various dance games… Just Dance on the Switch just didn't feel like it was legit.

I know that physical media down the track often has terrible trade in/resale values except for a few highly coveted titles, but at least it has some value vs the digital copies which has no value. I'm tempted to just send a box of everything to eBay Valet since I have a lot of games built up since my high school days on the OG Xbox. I can't bring myself to sell my N64 though.

The one thing I do applaud is Xbox Play Anywhere where I can at least still play games on PC in the future (hopefully) eg Forza 7/Horizon 3.

  • +2

I bought a used PS4 500GB for $120 from FB market place last year. Didn't realise it but seems that I got a great bargain

    • the other day I got Xbox X for $100 like new. thinking to trade it :D

      • Well done you

      • seller must've been desperate to get rid of it :S

  • +1

Would it be possible to trade in my Switch and grab the new model with better battery life using that credit? Should be fine right?

    • Indeed you can.

    • Yep, but in all honesty I don't know if it's worth whatever the price difference is unless your Switch battery is shot. I'd hold out for some kind of Switch Pro or something.

On a related note though, did Nintendo come up with a way to sync/transfer your progress between devices? Last I looked there was a 'plan' to do so and I contemplated getting a 2nd Switch Lite for portable use.

      • It has cloud saves available for pretty much all games if you have their premium membership ($30/yr).

Otherwise it also has a transfer option in the settings, but you'd have to do that in-store as you need both consoles to connect to each other to send data across.

  • Can I cash out my credit? Will anyone buy that?

  • Anyone have experience using xbox one x as a 4k blu ray player? Tossing up to trade in xbox s for the x …. or …. get a dedicated player like the Panasonic 820 and keep the s

    • +1

xbox one s is a 4k blu ray player? just not 4k for games

    • +1

i believe the xbox S can be used as 4k blue player

    • Yes. It works.

    • I was using an xbox one x as my 4k bluray player for a while. But my LG supports dolby vision and the xbox can't do dolby vision via the 4k disks. It was supposed to be coming but hasn't yet. So in the end i ended up buying the panasonic 820 a few months ago. I find the picture quality better on the stand alone player but it could just be me trying to justify the purchase. lol. But it does do dolby vision really well and i really enjoy the quality. I think if you have some spare cash go for the player, otherwise just use the xbox.

    • S can do it as well.

I use my X for a 4K blu ray player and it supports my Logitech Harmony remote too. But in the end I am lazy at buying discs/changing discs/etc and end up just watching whatever is on Netflix.

  • Anyone know of any diff in trade in price between One S 1TB?
If so, let me know. Thinking of bumping it up to X.

    • i messaged them and asked and they said they only take consoles on the list and wont take it lol so either the same as 500gb or nothing

      • daaaamn! Oh well, thanks for that. Appreciate it

    • +2

I think your best bet is to call your local store and ask them. Mine said $200 + EB World bonus for the One S 1TB, which they seemed to read off a list of prices. For anyone interested, they also told me $160 + EB World bonus for the original (fat) One 1TB without Kinect.

  • I haven't shopped at EB Games before, because they're so expensive compared to the likes of JB Hifi/Amazon/Big W etc.

Will they price match for new games? I'm talking Borderlands 3, NBA 2K20 etc.

    • depends on the store tbh they always price match for me tho

  • I'm seriously considering taking up this offer…

I've had my Xbox One S for almost 2 years but I haven't played a game for over 3 months mainly due to the fact that I had a game addiction and went cold turkey.

Apart from gaming, the Xbox One does make a great media player as well as a 4K bluray player but as I mostly stream I no longer require an optical player.

My Hisense 65 inch t.v. has most of the apps I need for streaming.

One day I may get back into gaming but I would rather use my spare time for other interests.

At the end of the day I only use my xbox for watching content on my usb drives via Kodi and Amazon Prime which I am no longer subscribed to.

The store credit could come in handy especially when you consider that it can be used at EB games sister store, Zing Pop Culture.

    Decisions decisions…

    • +1

Good work for being clean for 3 months. Hard to admit to an addiction let alone beat it. Keep it up. 👍

      • Thanks, the thing is the Xbox One is a fantastic game system but that became a problem for me as I was playing way too many games to the point that they were cutting into other areas of my life and I realized that I was addicted.
It's been over 3 months since I last placed a game, I miss some a little but I would rather have a social life and spend time on my other interests and hobbies.

As I mentioned before, I occasionally use my xbox one as a media player, it's a shame my t.v. lacks Amazon Prime video but I can go without that too, I'm not sure if it's worth keeping it for the odd app when I could use the credit to put towards something that I could get more enjoyment from.

    • Only if you can make good use of the EB credits or you want to fully quit console gaming for now.
Right now, I still have some credits, but cannot find anything worthwhile to buy from EB.

Dunno why, but after RDR2, I become quite fussy on games. Want to sell my XB1X, but what am I going to do with the credits?

      • I was thinking of using the credit to put towards a statue from Zing Pop Culture or this Nvidia Shield bundle:

        https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/nvidia/244112-nvidia-shie…

        • Good idea, but facing the same issue I have - most items are expensive at EB games (not worth getting). You will end up paying $180 (or less if you are a member at higher levels). I paid $227 (feeBay) for that bundle last year. So it kinda feels like you get $50-$75 for your XBox One S after the whole exchange.

  • I'm level 4, have two consoles to trade. Nice deal!! That's Astral Chain, Zelda, Luigi's Mansion and Pokemon paid for 👌

  • you actually get a fair bit more for yoyr console than this deal if u teade in towards new consoles in one of their regular trade in deals plus any 2 games deals

  • dont forget its 20% off a lot of stock at northlands this sat. not hardware etc. i tried topost this deal but a mod rejected it as i dint list ant specific deals…go figure!

    • What's happening at Northlands? Is the store shutting down or something?

      • refit and merger with zing

    • I thought it was 10%

  • Is there an easy way to get 75 more points on eb world?

    • You could buy some stuff first, but I think it takes a while for the carrots to load into your membership.

    • Preowned items give you x2 carrots I believe so spend $37.5 on something you may use, or preordering gives you carrots not sure if you get them right away tho cos you can cancel after you trade if you don't actually want the preordered item but not sure if that way works.

  • Damn, tempting to upgrade to the newer console!
Any restrictions on how many times you can use this offer?

May need to borrow a friends level 4 card, but they may want to do it as well…

Don’t forget to price match $429 for the new switch at big w!

    • Difference of $100. Crikey. Is it worth it

      • +1

2 hours extra battery and think they fixed the drifting issue.

    • They do require ID for trade ins, unsure if they will honour your mates level 4 card unless they are present. Shouldn't be a problem with multiple trade ins.

      • Sweet! Sounds good! Thanks!

      • You can definitely use a friend's EBW Card as long as you (the trader) has photo ID :)

    • I didn’t think EB Games price matches hardware?

    • Just called EB Albert St, company policy is that they don't price match consoles anymore.

      • I can confirm this is true!
