  • Anyone planning to trade in a switch with low firmware?

    • Firmware changes as you update right?

      • Yup, so basically a switch that's not patched to the latest firmware.

  • +1

If I've upgraded the HDD to 2tb in my original PS4, will they still accept it?

    • They will accept. But don't give much more if any because of that.

  • I was told $200 for an Xbox one S 1tb through FB messenger.

    • +1

Any chance of a screenshot with your name blurred out?

  • No Mention of the Xbox one s 1tb? any idea if there's a good trade in price for it?

  • I'm actually considering trading my current switch since i bought that for $315(prime day)and then maybe add to get the newer model or maybe the lite… hmm decisions decisions.

    • The lite? I would not trade down to a lite.

      • Neither. I’m considering getting the new model full fat switch. Does this ‘store credit’ extend to console purchases? What’s EB selling the switch for these days?

Edit: just called them. New switch model is selling for $470. So after my level 2 10% bonus, looking at a $170 upgrade cost. Hmmm.

        • Tough decision haha… but I've watched a few youtube videos and it seems like it almost doubles the battery life.. now to think if its worth 150+

          • @westzod: ….and the screen is also meant to be better?

            • @deepfriedchips: Apparently "it looks better"… and the joycons apparently are a bit different which no one can really explain why.

        • Don’t forget to price match $429 for the new switch at big w!

$129 to upgrade if you price match.

    • +2

      Good luck

  • any word on 3ds consoles?

  • Hmm can a mate put my PS4 pro through at level 4 then give me the credit? Is it gift card or attached to the members account?

    • You can get the value put on a gift card.

      • Is that a level 4 thing? I took my PS4 to EB and was told I had to use the credit immediately, and that this was the case with all stores in NSW.

        • Oh really? I know getting paid the cash instead of credit is a QLD thing but I didn’t think getting a gift card was an issue?

        • +1

Same thing here was told I had to use the credit now and they couldnt do a gift card. Either spend in store or place preorders. Also in Nsw.

  • Phoned about the trade-in value of the Xbox One Elite 1TB console and was told it would be $160 without the Elite controller or $190 with it plus EB World bonus on top of that.

Anyone get told a different value at all? The guy seemed to be guessing the value from the way he was talking.

  • Silly question maybe:

Does it have to be the original Xbox HDMI cable and controller?

I don't have the originals but a generic grey coloured HDMI cable and a Forza controller that I could include.

    • +1

nope, not at all! for an Xbox One you just need: machine unit, a controller, hdmi cable, power cable :) controller needs to be a wireless one, but hdmi can be any!

      • Excellent! Thankyou for replying so quickly :)

  • I'd like to upgrade from a 500gb ps4 fat OG to a PS4 pro.

I can only see 2 deals for new pros on their site:

    https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/ps4/806006-playstation-4-…

I've got plenty of old PS4 games I could trade in as well if need be. Anyone know if they'll do a price match? Does anyone else sell these pros with RDR?

    • e.g. could i ask them to price match this?

      https://www.amazon.com.au/PlayStation-1TB-Dead-Redemption-Bu…

    • +1

Comments above suggest they have changed their price matching policy on hardware. Unsure if this is true or not. In the past I've got them to price match on this deal from JB but it depends on where your EB Games is located and how far away the competition is.

      • thanks for the help :)

      • i just rang EB games and can confirm they aren't price matching hardware atm (indooroopilly, brisbane)

thanks for the heads up :)

      • Can confirm company-wide we do not price match hardware anymore.

        • +1

This is actually terrible news. I used to only shop at EB (unless online is cheaper) purely for price matching their competition. Looks like I'll be buying my consoles at JB from now on who still price match (including Amazon)

        • +1

          Wait, what?

You are telling me that if Big W has the new Switch for a cheaper price and is in-stock the EB Games across from them will not price match?

          • @hey aj: Just relaying the stance of the company-wide policy. Software titles the company without hesitation will price match. Best to confirm hardware matching with your local store. Our region does not match.

  • PM’d their Facebook page and got the below (emphisis mine)

    Hey silverrat23

An original model Xbox One 1TB console will currently trade in for $160 store credit. The console must be working, complete, and in resalable condition to receive this offer. This can't be combined with any other offer, except EB World.

If you were to trade the console in without the official controller, the total trade value may vary. We recommend that you head in to your local store for more details.

Please let us know if you have any further questions. 🙂

  • Im trading my xbox 360 slim? Eb come on…

  • I will trade in XB X1S to get XB 1X, but X is at full price and we have seen it cheaper else where at amazon which makes it less attractive. Might wait again for trade in deal like this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/467844

  • thinking trading in my fat white ps4 500gb for a pro but if there's no deal going around it really not worth it.
unless of course i just keep the credit for gaming purchases..

  • So im thinking how i should go about this, i want an XB1X 1TB

    Ive got:

    1x OG XB1 (dont know if its 500gb or 1TB) - $150
    1x XB1S 1TB - $180-190
1x Extra controller - (Anyone know the trade in value of a controller??)
Handful of old games i could trade in - $50?

Thinking i might get around $400 if i trade this in. Dont think i would still be close to getting near an XB1X

    • You can get the Gears 5 XB1X console bundle for $429 if you trade your XB1S + 2 games.

      https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/xbox-one/225589-xbox-one-…

If you are not a fan of Gears of War, sell the games. The Ultimate Edition for Gears 5 should easily get you $110 alone.

      • +1

i dont think you will get that much for gears imo alot of people got the $1 gamepass which has all the gears and gears 5 ultimate on it

  • I'm really thinking about trading in my og 500gb ps4 for a ps4 pro. Anyone know what the process would be for transferring all my data from ps4 to ps4 pro without owning both consoles at the same time?

  • Anyone know if Kinect makes a difference to the value? Have a launch Xbox one and may as well hang on to it if it doesn't change the value
Edit: looking on their site they don't even sell the console with Kinect so doubt they'll take it.

    • Last time I traded my old XBOX, they took the kinect but it's only worth peanuts

  • Question - does the Xbox have to be wiped or factory reset? Or you can just hand it in

Also do you require ID in Victoria? Or just hand it in?

    • You don’t have to wipe it but I would for peace of mind to know it’s done and yeah, ID is required for all trade-ins.

  • Can anyone confirm that QLD definitely do cash for a trade in?

Got a PS4 Pro I want to offload but would happily take less than the $320 store credit for cash instead.

    • You could always ring and ask to find out first-hand :)

      • I certainly could.

        • Can confirm in QLD you can get cash but subtract 20%

  • Does anyone know if they’ll still take PS4 that’s been opened? Like one with the sticker “warranty void if removed”, removed.

    • +1

They are pretty care free, depends who you get. I just traded in an original Xbox one and the girl thought it was an Xbox one x and unfortunately looked it up herself and had to compare a picture.

My Xbox that I traded worked perfectly well however all she did to check as ask “this is working all fine”, got my store credit and was on my way

      • They scan the serial number so even if they are clueless at the start they will still find out before handing the credit over.

        • Yeah I figured that but in terms of the overall process they are pretty care free and don’t overly check things

          • @TightTerry: That's true. My controller was missing the back and they didn't even notice. Depending on who you get you may even be able to get away with a third party controller.

  • Do eb sell graphics cards? I would trade my ps4 pro anyway for a 2070 super

  • Thinking of offloading my ps4 for credit torwards a ps5, only question is will they still be around in 18 months?

    • It's still a long way to go mate, what would you do in the meantime without your PS4??

      • Play other things… Go outside… Watch TV… Talk to people…? :)

        • +1

Yea that's what I do in day time.

          At night I need my PS4 :)

      • I dont use my ps4 too often… Play on PC mainly. PS5 comes out next year, not really a long time.

  • Has anyone price matched the new switch with Big W yet?

This is the only thing that makes it worth trading in!

    • As far as I know, EB Games don't do price match for consoles and hardwares.

I've asked before if they can price match with BigW for the Nintendo Switch bundles, they said nah

      • Yeah just asked… after I traded in 2 Switches… so now I'm up a gift card without a Switch….

Assholes. Apparently new policy this year.

        • Girl at EB told me it's not a company policy, apparently it's illegal now to price match hardware. She said they can still price match everything else from games to accessories.

          • @brandogs: LOL illegal, that's a little over the top… I may just use the credit for the Gears 5 console, I did want that, and it won't likely be available elsewhere much anyway…. Fk giving them money for an overpriced Switch

No wonder they are struggling big time… not like it's not obvious with half their stores being filled with loot instead.

            • @scuderiarmani: Yeah I'm unsure what the new law is but that's what I was told.

They rely on clueless shoppers who pay RRP. So much competition out there now they'll be struggling for sure.

              • @brandogs: I think I heard 800 odd losing jobs in the US, only a matter of time till it filters here.

Full credit to them for branching with Loot and all, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't be competitive with pricing either…

        • Hmm last time I've checked, the don't want to put through my trade in onto a gift card anymore.

The credit needs to be put in to pre-orders.

  • So I'm thinking to trade in my:
    * Xbox One S 500GB = $216 (inc 20% added value - Lvl 4)
    * PS4 500GB = $276 (inc 20% added value - Lvl 4)
    That's a total of $492

And get the Xbox One X (white) bundle + 3 games (Gear 4, COD WW2, Anthem), which is $649.

So in the end I need to fork out around $157.
Might be less, depends if I want to trade in my old games.

You guys reckon it's a good trade? I can't find any other good Xbox One X bundle at EB Games.

    • not worth imo id personally wait till scarlett comes out in a year but if u really want the xbox one x i would get the gears limited edition console might hold more value and u can sell the codes if u dont want them

      • @Kostie thanks for your feedback.

But my consoles won't be worth that much by that time and these kind of console trade-in added value promotion, doesn't happen too often.

        • Your choice but the x will also be worth a lot less when the Scarlett comes out IMO

  • Seems like everyone here is already Level 4, just like me.

Did anyone received the invitation from EB to become Level 5?? I heard Lvl 5 is by invitation only.

    • I was level 4 in a heartbeat, and never got any offer. Haven't bought much there anymore this generations as I'm full digital, but still have well over 40k carrots.

A few exclusive consoles/collectors editions back in my stupid days… a tonne of trading in too…

  • +1

Called my local store about trading in a XBONE 1tb and the trade-in value before eb world bonus is $160. Also i enquired about not including a controller and that would take off $45 from the total trade-in value. So for a Level 3, an XBONE 1tb with controller was $184 and without a controller was $139

  • I have a PS4 to trade - it’s currently not fully functional (does a loop when you turn it on)

Do you think I can trade this in? Not sure if they’ll accept it. Anyone else had experiences ?

    • I was quoted $150 trade value by EB for a PS4 Pro which wasn't functioning correctly.

Best to ring your local EB and ask.

My guess is you could trade it, as apparently they all get refurb'd, so it's worth a call to find out.

  • I bought at PS4 Pro a few months back and upgraded my PSVR to the v2 version to allow HDR passthrough etc. but hadn't got around to selling the old hardware, so this was great. Traded in PS4 500gb, PSVR v1 along with 2 motion controllers (old mini-usb versions), old PS camera plus boxed VR Worlds and received $494.40 all up on a gift card, including my level 4 bonus. Was pretty happy with that as I don't think I'd have gotten more selling privately. Only took about 10 minutes.

  • The new switch is $469 including 2 games in EB games. Anyone know if I do not want the included games, will EB sell just the switch for lower price?

    • Nope, but they will trade the games back in for a heavily reduced cost.

  • Another question. Anyone know if there's a limit to how long you can keep eb trade credit for? I'm thinking about trading my fat xbox one in cuz i never use it and keep the credit for when the ps5 comes out? Is that doable or do you have to use it up in like 12 months or something

    • I'm pretty sure there is no expiry on the credit, otherwise just put it on a pre-order and keep moving it to other pre-orders when the time comes until you're ready to use it.

  • Anyone know if this includes the extra $20 trade credit?

So level 4, 20% bonus trade credit AND $20 trade credit (single use)?

    EDIT: Called my local store.

Original Xbox One 1TB will be $160 + 20% bonus for level 4, the $20 bonus trade credit DOESN'T apply, has to be for another trade item. Can't stack.

  • I traded in a Xbox original 500gb, and received 150 off, plus 10% with a green eb world card, and with xcom 2, and AC origins with dead rising 3.

(Best to trade games in too, stack the membership discount as the console doesn't count.)

I traded it in for a second hand Xbox one X, and got 203 trade credit.

The Xbox one X was 477, so it cost me 274 with 3 months warranty, after 3 months I'll add a ssd inside the Xbox one X (should be interesting, then sell it later on when Xbox 2 X arrives, since Xbox one X is soo tiny, almost PS2 tiny that it's depreciation is minimal when scarlet releases, and with a ssd inside the Xbox I'm sure it will be a nice contender for xbox2, not 2x.
(But dam it's powerful, I decided to keep the kinect V2, because it's rare and just dance 2020 will support it, and it's ffn amazing technology outside vthe consumer sector, not even current phones have that type of technology, only the airport's have kinect V2 type of technology minus the ai.)

Add the 3 years Xbox ultimate game pass and all up in total, 274+ 220 xgp

For a Xbox one X is a bargain, it's in great condition too.

However wasn't pleased how EB games staff handled my traded in Xbox 500gb console, it was in mint packaging, they practically chucked out the plastic foam, whacked the console on the table to here for loose parts. Still not nice.

Overall given the Radeon Rx 580 like almost between 250 and 330, I think I got a absolute bargain thats cheaper then a pc build, and yeah I still love my pc and always will but pc is for work and serious productivity (all those sweet thread ripped calls to serious work loads) no offense.

  • Thought i'd give an update. I'm actually really happy with what i got. I traded in my og 500gb xbone with 2 controllers and some old ass games and got a $250 eb gift card. Not bad at all for a 6 year old machine and much more than i see people selling them for online. For anyone wondering, there's no expiry for the eb gift card so i'm free to save it for the ps5 :D. This is in Qld btw, i heard EB does it differently depending on the state.

    • Well done! :)

Sadly here in NSW they won't give gift cards so you have to spend the money on the day :(

      • Damn that's rough. I wonder why they do that. And i wonder why it's different in different states to begin with.Surely they're missing out on a lot of trades if they're expecting people to spend every cent of it immediately.

        • Something to do with pawn broking laws I believe and trying to stop the sale of stolen goods.

Oh well, I'll sell my Xbox privately and buy a game or two cheaper elsewhere :)

          • @JonShannow: You probably could get away with putting it on a pre order like Nintendo switch lite, then never paying it off, then down the line cancel the pre order and get them to move it over to PlayStation 5.

      • I just put it on Project Scarlett, that shouldnt come out for a while ;)

  • I got $362.50 for my PS4 Slim 500GB. EB card lvl 4 20% + Scratch and win 25%
