      Fad’s not dead unfortunately.
Coles produced more this round as they ran out last year.

Even have extra newspapers minis on the weekend

produced more or overestimated the appeal?

        • +1

Definitely produced more. I work at a Coles and we sold just as many folders, trolleys, and the other stuff as last year; the difference is we didn't sell out after three days.

Recycle it back into a shipping container and send it back to China - oh, that's right, they're not taking our sh!t anymore - landfill it is.

  • +4

those little baskets are rather useful for organising random things around the house

    • The shopping trolleys are terrible on the other hand. Massive gaps in the base and everything falls out.

      • +1

and they don't even resemble the real thing lol.

i've got mini trolleys made of metal that are way better

      • +1

I cut up the cardboard box it came in to use as a liner. Works well enough, haven’t had to adjust it at all.

  • +10

Does anyone else find the trolleys hurt your back wheeling down the aisles and they don't hold as many groceries as they use too? Maybe it's just my imagination.

    • +1

Quite a few models of trolleys these days. The smaller half-height one with no kids seat, is quite good for quick shop but doesn't hold much if you have big items.

  • Geez, the Coles near me is overrun with tons of tiny shopping trolleys, cardboard shops, trucks, baskets etc. Theyre at the end of all the aisles, special sections at the beginning and end of the supermarket, in front of the checkouts. Its a wonder they have room for food in the supermarket. I'd call that a massive fail of a campaign. I think in a few weeks they'll pay you to take darned tiny baskets off their hands.

    • Well yeah, the collector cases are free with a $60 spend so they're not far from paying us to take their junk.

      • Spent $60 last week didn't get anything

        • I've seen ads, I think you have to ask for it. I didn't get it either but there are black and white print outs around the store.

          • @Sage: You just grab one and when it discounts to $0 (after spending $60).

  • +3

So which one can I sell on eBay for $1000?

  • +4

More waste, good job Coles no wonder the planet is dying.

    • -3

Do you stand outside Mr Toys wearing a double sided placard, denouncing the end of the world?

      • -1

No, but I do know the definition of denounce. How about you?

        • If i was responding to you, the comment would be indented under your comment. Hint: it’s not.

  • +1

Imagine paying for zero-use plastic landfill.

    • -1

Hey, the environment brigade wanted the plastic bags banned. Rest of the plastic is fine.

    • Imagine paying for zero-use plastic landfill that simply advertises the company you are buying the item from.

      Capitalism at its finest.

“you spend your hard-earned money on the actual product, now you can spend your hard-earned money on mini versions of those products that have no use whatsoever! Buy! Buy! Buy!”

  • +11

Get rid of reusable plastic bags that have many uses besides a shopping bag, claiming you are saving the earth, then proceed to flood Australia with non-reusable tonnes of plastic that children will throw away after 1 year!
    What a great PR campaign!

    • +2

We all know plastic bag was a scam using it as an excuse and charge you again with their own bags

    • +3

      A whole year?? That's a bit optimistic.

  • +2

Seriously little shop 2 wasn't as exciting and they keep bringing out these toys in supermarkets which aren't good. Totally against the initiative on plastic bags. Rather bring out their own toys in plastic

  • People actually buy this stuff?

  • +1

They might as well give it out for free.

Because whoever thought of this from marketing is an idiot. Noone will pay for these items to begin with

  • -2

    Zero use mini landfill

  • I'd buy the truck if 75% off at $2 . OP sheet would buy at 90% off lol .

  • +1

They charge for shopping baskets now?

  • +2

What is with our obsession with consuming absolutely useless trash?? This is as much of a deal as going to the garbage tip being free is a deal.

    • makes the kids happy ?

    • Makes my toddler happy.

      So yeah.

    • Agree 110%,it's not my cup of tea but where does one draw the line? Driving to sporting events, flying on holiday, eating fancy food, wearing new clothes, drinking alcohol, having children, coming to Ozbargain and ordering crap etc etc.

      • … a selection of the new apartment towers etc etc …

Does it help the economy keep moving?

Last time you could sell these collectables on eBay for a decent price (offset what you spent at the supermarket). This time, I think they didn't sell for as much.

  • +3

The shopping trolleys will come in handy for the Discovery Garden kits from Woollies.

  • +1

Can I get a free plastic bag instead of collectable crap? I am thinking spend $30 get a life size bag that is reusable.
Make them collectables and have cool logos etc

  • -3

I just hope that someone here will at least think twice about the plastic single use stuff. We seriously have a climate emergency happening right now. Do your own research. But eventually the planet will do this for us all, when there is no water for agriculture, when electricity or oil is unavailable, when there is no fish or bees, people will not have a choice but to become active. I cannot understand the apathy. We are already in deep trouble, look at the Amazon, the Pacific Islands . Oh, but that was last week's news. We need to demand that government tell the truth about the climate emergency that is before us.
