VIOFO A119 V3 Dashcam with GPS Mount/Parking Hardwire Kit/32GB MSD $152.15 Delivered @ A1 Electric Toys eBay

350
PEGASUS

This is the latest version in the popular A119 series of dashcams from VIOFO. The one thing I like about this dashcam is the parking mode options with various buffered settings. Includes GPS mount, parking hardwire kit with automatic cutoff to prevent vehicle battery going flat and 32GB micro SD card.

I'm going to fit one of these to my new RAV4. To make life easier, Toyota Australia have fitting instructions for their genuine dashcam on their Toyota Manuals site. If you input the genuine dashcam part number PZQ8533270, it will bring up a list of current models for fitting the dashcam to. I'm going to use these instructions to identify the exact battery power and accessory wires to connect to for the A119's hardwire kit. Plus the instructions show how to remove/refit trims, where to route wires etc.

Hopefully this will help any other recent model Toyota owners if they're fitting a hardwire kit with whatever dashcam, not necessarily a genuine Toyota dashcam (which is too damn expensive anyhow).

Original Coupon Deal.

  • I've always been meaning to install a battery for my one but can't seem to bring myself on spending $500 just to power a few dashcams.

    • powerbanks ?

      • Power banks could work but it wouldn't charge in time during the driving trip meaning you'll have to take it out n charge it but yes I have thought about it.

      • I have 2 of the 2000MAh Xiaomi powerbanks ($20 each), and I cycle these out to keep 2 dashcams running 24/7. Works really well.

    • Are batteries really $500 for these? Wow.

Just use powerbanks IMO. Some people say they are dangerous in summer but I have used them without issue. As long as you buy a good brand like Xiaomi should be pretty safe.
As for this cam I would not spend this much on a front only cam.B1W does a good job for $60, but now I want a duo system so waiting for the 4k Viofo.

Unfortunately the problem is inherent to lithium batteries not just good/bad brand.
Also you'll lose capacity pretty quick once it gets to extreme temps (45+ deg C)…

        • Been using the same powerbank 2+ years now no issue. Nice to know my car is always protected whilst parked, and caught a few interesting interactions and car park arguments as well :P
The hot summers are a bit of a worry though. Thats why I am looking to upgrade dashcam to new 4k Viofo duo and hardwire it in. I just hope the parking mode is reliable. Anyone know if I can set it based on motion so it captures everyone that walks/drives past the car (not just impact), and whether the car battery will hold up to a few hours of that kind of use?

Who don't you just use the car battery?

    • +4

Buffered parking is what you see in a $600-$800 mark range dashcam, Viofo has done it within $150 mark. Top job

you can power it via a USB port, or a 12v socket, or hardwire into accessories power (eg. when car is off but radio is on) and you can also get one of those things that has a user-set voltage cutoff that means it is powered by the car battery 24/7 unless the voltage dips below a preconfigured value.

not sure what battery you think you need for this task but it is not a $500 product, thats for sure.

  • Love my A119S after lots of forum trawling and YouTube videos. It was fairly easy to hardwire the dash cam. Just waiting for the prying tools from aliexpress was a long wait. They should consider including the tools as a bundle so it’s an all in one.

Oh yes forgot to ask so this is superior to a119s?

    • My A129 had the tools included so im assuming all their latest ones are coming with them.

  • +2

Wonder when we will see car manufacturers simply include a dash cam standard. These things have to go the way of the old school GPS units.

Can a rear camera be 'added' to this unit at a later stage?

    • Unfortunately, no. Look at the A129, which has a new version coming out soon with 4K capability.

      • Bugger, thanks for the info

    • Look on amazon, they sell a rear camera version for $230

  • +1

Waiting on the Blueskysea B1W to come back at $60.

  • Does anyone know if the power leads/cradles are all compatible with each version?

I have my A119S hard wired into my vehicle so if I upgraded the unit is it a case of putting the new unit into the existing cradle?

    Cheers

    • Might just use the new hardwire kit to go with a119 v3 which provides better auto parking function and variable voltage cutoff to safe protect the battery.

    • From what I've read on the various dashcam sites, I think the GPS mounts are different. Plus the newer models' connections are improved as the earlier versions of the A119 had issues with the connections between the mount and cam.

  • I have the A129 version bought for around $200 and got someone to install it.
He charged me $100. Very good work and good man

  • Love my A129, good quality for the money I paid, bought from last eBay promotion, It's a pretty neat little dash cam, with Built-in GPS takes care of speed and location video overlays. The only problem I had is how to hide the charging cable, as I really don’t want to pay extra money to get someone to install it.

  • If you hardwire 2 of these to the car (front and back), would it be too much drain?

  • How long dose the 20k power bank last during park mode?
