Image from new catalogue

The GZ1000 range are packed with features including both HDR formats: Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ as well as Dolby Atmos, etc.

Vincent from HDTVTest recently reviewed the GZ950 (not available in Australia. The GZ950 has identical picture as our GZ1000. But our GZ1000 has better sound speakers).

Highly Recommended Best Value Award

  • Geez.. I'm in the market for an OLED now but I think I'll wait a bit seeing OLED deals are now starting to pop out. Not sure though if Panasonic's OS and processor are better than LG or Sony. Nice find OP.

Depends what’s important to you most… best picture quality or best operating system? Best picture- get the Panny. Best OS? Buy a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Apple or Fetch TV.

I dont think thats the case anymore, maybe for 2018 models. C9 won 2019 shootout:

Minus gaming and the Panasonic won.

          • @msjb: Nope, they are also comparing to GZ2000 which has better/premium panels.

Best Home Theatre TV: Panasonic GZ2000 (20.84 points); runner-up LG C9 (20.81 points)

Best Living Room TV: Panasonic GZ2000 (23.73 points); runner-up Samsung Q90R (23.44 points)

Best Gaming TV: LG C9 (4.67 points); Panasonic GZ2000 (3.92 points)

Best HDR TV: LG C9 (17.34 points); Panasonic GZ2000 (16.81 points)

            Best TV of 2019: LG C9 (33.16 points); Panasonic GZ2000 (32.90 points)

@msjb: Again, they are comparing to GZ2000 which has better panel….

@msjb: Take off your Panasonic colored glasses mate, LG OLED is the best TV you can buy in 2019. Thats without even considering HDMI 2.1 which makes it an even bigger gap than these scores show.

                • @noise36: Agreed, you'd be crazy to buy a tv now without HDMI 2.1 given that TVs are five year upgrades for most people. You might not care about HDMI 2.1 this year but you will next year when the new consoles and graphics cards come out - 120Hz at 4k with VRR and auto low latency mode on a 65-inch OLED will be so so sweet. Plus the C9 has the lowest input lag out of all the TVs at just 13ms

                  • @merajaan: It’s all for gaming mate.

@msjb: It also won best HDR TV category. What are you doing on your TV if it isn't watching HDR movies, HDR TV shows or playing HDR games? Those are all best on the LG OLED not the Panasonic.

    • Yep if you can hold off there's some time of the years coming up that have historically (in the last two years) been great times to grab a telly. Upcoming is black Friday and then boxing day through to NY.

I'm still not convinced there's one OLED to rule them all, pick a couple of areas that are important to you and grab the set that meets those needs. Eg for some its gaming, others (without a sound system) sound quality etc. I was torn between Sony and LG when buying mine. Picture quality wise they both looked good to me, price was similar, sound wasn't a concern, ultimately it came down to gaming and OS and since I found Sony's to be frustrating but loved the LG OS.

Agreed goes down to your needs.
If you’re a movie buff, then the Panasonic for picture, the best HDR features with both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, better motion than the LG (2nd to SONY’s OLED’s).
If you’re a gamer, you can’t go past the OLED from LG as you’re future proofing due to HDMI 2.1 features.

Best HDR TV: LG C9 (17.34 points); Panasonic GZ2000 (16.81 points)

HDR Movies, HDR TV shows and HDR games are going look best on LG OLED.

The Panasonic OLEDs are excellent TVs, its just that the LG are better by most metrics worth measuring.

  • been a few deals already from Appliance central eBay for around $3750, id be waiting for the next one which is pretty common

  • Oh Vincent Theo! The TV reviewer and professional calibrator!

Seriously though, it's good to read they upgraded the speakers. I had to buy a soundbar for my FZ950.

  • Noticed today the TGG has the 55" Panasonic GZ1000U at $2495. Not too bad a price for a non ebay seller. Do you think TGG will negotiate at that price?
