  • EBay - $2319.20 for 8GB ram and 256GB SSD

Should be able to upgrade those for less than $400 ;)

    • +2

cant upgrade RAM on this model.

      • Well that's just dumb lol

        Ah yes both are onboard

      • Can't even upgrade the SSD, it's soldered

  • Nice!

no sale on 4k models though…

  • +1
    • What are the key differences?
I can see that the lenovo has a full USB port and also has a slightly bigger battery
      Anything else you can compare?

      • On the lenovo page under 'current models' the one at $3,199 has 4K '14" HDR400 UHD (3840x2160) IPS 500nits Glossy, 10-point Multi-touch'.
But overall I gave up on XPS 13 as owned twice in the past and didn't feel as premium to me. My previous XPS had loud fan and plastic rubber underneath the laptop bunch up and come out.

        • I don't like the lenovo because of large black bezel underneath the screen - kills the whole thing for me

  • Good deal OP, although you might want to add the colour of the keyboard in the description for the model you linked, as there's also a white version available.

    • Bingo! I couldn't figure out what the difference was from the configuration page. Ill throw in the link for both colours now. Thanks mate!

      • It took me longer than I care to admit to work out the colour differences, Dell haven't made it easy.

Also, don't forget to add another 9% cashback from Shopback!

  • Good deal!
But Keep an eye on the outlet too. They have some great deals occasionally. :)
I got a xps 15 7590 with the same config (aside from a 4k touch screen and 9th gen i7) with Windows 10 pro for $300 less.

    • You most likely won't see these available via the outlet any time soon, as they're quite new.

  • Dell chat was able to knock it down to $2672.12 by asking for a student discount. Still might be a little bit too expensive for me to jump at this stage.

  • Is the 10th gen Intel that much of a leap over the previous generations of Intel CPU's?

    10th gen i7 - https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/search?q=1065g7

    8th gen 13" Macbook 1.4Ghz - i5-8257U - https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/search?q=i5-8257U

Considering both computers use soldered ram, you can run Windows on Mac very well. I'd probably just buy a Macbook 13 256gb on sale for $1900-2000 something if you can handle 8GB. Or $2699 for 16GB. Obviously SSD at 512 is stupid at $2919 from Apple.

Better screen, better speakers, better battery life. But can't scribble on the screen or upgrade the SSD.

The 10th gen integrated graphics are a big step up over the previous gen, CPU performance alone, not so much.

      • From the GPU benchmarks I looked at, the Iris apparently gets clobbered hard by even a lowly MX150.

The new Razer Blade Stealth 13 has options for Iris, MX150, and GTX1650. Yes, a 1650 in a 13" laptop.

  • 12% cashback with ShopBack? If so that's $2350.72 - quite a deal!

    • XPS range appears to only be 9% at ShopBack and 8.4% at CashRewards.

      • +1

Ah, my mistake! Still a good saving compared to the normal price though, unless there's a cap.

Personally I'll wait until the prices drop a bit more before replacing my Spectre x360 7th Gen, which I'm really happy with!

  • There's gotta be some codes.. 5% at least?

  • At first glance it's expensive.
    New Tech op gg

  • Hrmm…sooo tempted.
Tossing up between this with extra 10% student discount vs. the newly announced Lenovo C940 - specced out similarly costs ~$2-300 more

    • Yea me too, tempted to go for the C940. Not sure about the keyboard and the black bezel on it though.

On the other hand, been hearing mixed opinions about the new XPS but i like the aspect ratio and overall design of it, may just wait for reviews.

      • Yeah, thats what I'm doing. Gonna wait and see what my favourite YouTubers say about them.
C940 is pulling ahead slightly for me..
Larger battery, slightly larger screen, Windows Hello IR camera, built in silo for stylus, USB-A port
I do prefer that aspect ratio on the Dell though, been working off a Surface Pro 4 last couple of years and I've really come to like that 3:2.
And that White XPS looks really good.

However…. Microsoft announcement coming October 2nd… maybe a Surface Book 3? Will be hella expensive though.

  • Looks like the sale is on the 4k ones now.
