  • Cheers OP planning my attack now, wish they stocked more products like Autobarn

Anyone used Bowden's Own Afterglow? Looking for opinions

    • +1

Yes, amazing product, gives a great gloss.

    • +1

      It's an excellent product.

    • Yeah great product as with all of their stuff. Especially on dark cars. Not as amazing on white cars. easier to go boss gloss then.

      • Lazy wax is best for dark cars.

    • I've used it and it's pretty good for a drying aid. However, it's not going to give the same shine or beading you get from a liquid wax or sealant, which is expected, and more of product to use in between each proper wax/sealant application.

I just returned a bottle of Snow Job that I got at Repco last weekend with the 35% off as soon as I know SC will have 40% off. Every $2.75 counts!

      • I picture you getting to SC and they won't have any in stock. Not worth the risk for $2.75 if you ask me.
Maybe I'm not a true OzBargainer.

      • I'm torn with the Snow Job. Currently use Meguairs Gold Class in my foam cannon which works OK but doesn't foam as well as I'd like. Snow Job is just so expensive :(

        • +1

I'm using Gold Class as well for foam cannon and not really liking the results, hence why I'm going to try the Snow Job. Only trying it because it's on special and no way I'll buy it at RRP.

bmerigan - already returned so I'll go click and collect midnight tonight or flight it out at my nearest SC, which is only 5 mins away!

          • @Slugoid: I use a different process to Bowdens though. They spray snow job and then rinse it off. I prefer to leave foam on the car and use it for lubrication. Hence why I use gold class as apparently snow job isn’t a good soap in the bucket

      • Put a coating of this https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/autoglym-polar-seal-wax-… on, dry with afterglow and results speak for themselves. Amazing shine and beading

      • I've used both and snow job is the superior product. It produces thicker foam which clings to the panels for much longer. Definitely makes washing much easier.

        • +2

I have used snow job, megs gold class, autoglym polar blast.

Polar blast wins easily. Snow job was very good too. Gold class meh

Currently use Polar blast, hose off, apply polar wash by snow cannon and hand wash, followed by Happy Ending every few washes.

Going to pick up a 3rd snow cannon to cope with this regime.

Can get a further 10% off gift cards via my work.

I assume this will stack with their other offer (tomorrow only) of $10 credit if you spend $60 or $20 credit if you spend $100.

Might get a big green sucker. Not too satisfied with the yellow Kmart towel, wets out too quickly. Hope its worth it..

    • +2

Should check out SCA's own drying towel. They're pretty good and better value IMO.

    • From what I've heard it's a really good towel, but costly even on special ($24). I have their Big Softie (blue one) and I find that soaks up more water than a regular microfiber towel, and it's only $9. Granted, I've only got a medium sized car to dry, so if you have a big SUV or 4WD it might be different.

    • I bought the BGS when Repco had their sale. It is amazing, I reckon I could chamois my falcon and the Mazda 3 without ringing it out. Quality towel is worth buying

    • +1

Make sure you get some Boss Gloss to use as a drying aid too.

    • Same here ! However 40% will only bring it down to $24. Possible to still do better in the future I think..

    • +1

Get the BGS from here mate:
      https://www.repco.com.au/en/car-care-panel/car-care/car-care…

Save $$, be happy, be ozb! :)

  • Looking through the online store just now and def not on sale yet and i like how most of the product line is special order (still 20% off) but not the 40% big sale scenario they are pushing simply because they dont stock the gear. Poor effort. And Autobarn dont do these kind of sales. Repco have now started to stock the wet dreams etc which is good as they do have more sales and up to 35% off which is good.

    • Was a little disappointed, was excited to see that I can get the leather care pack on special, to later realise that it's probably only 20% off.

  • noob in cars here. can someone suggest me basic cleaning kit,(not looking for great detailing kits). Never had car and recently bought one.

    • +4

2 buckets, microfiber wash pad (NEVER use those cheap sponge), wheel brush, decent car wash (Meguiar's Gold Class or Wash and Wax is a good start) and some decent microfiber cloth for drying (not those cheap ones from Chemist Warehouse or Aldi). Pretty much all you need to get a car clean. Invest in a high pressure washer if you're inclined. Then it's all about technique.

      • Thank you so much.

  • Just saw entertainment book offer 10% off gift cards for SCA, though their website states up to 2 days for processing. Does anyone have any recent experience ordering from them with how long it actually takes?

    • How do we get one of these entertainment books mate? Cos that would take it up to 50% if it works!

    • +1

I got some via Youi and it was instant

    • +2

UPDATE: Just ordered a $100 gift card and delivery was instant.

  • What do people use this for mainly? Same as WD40 right?

    • I use it for lube.

  • +2

Ok just ordered a bunch of Bowden's Own products and some of the Special Order items such as the Safe Wash Kit are around 45% off. Got one for $164.64!

Just put it in your cart and the new price will come up and is cheaper than what is listed on the website.

    • Thanks got a little intro kit for $100 delivered. + $20 credit back makes this a great deal.

      • It's still showing at $143, after I've logged in and hit checkout. It was $100 earlier this morning. WTH!

        • +1

May have been mispriced and they fixed it?

        • +1

They've fixed it. Always pays to jump on straight away with these sorts of things.

          • @nubzy: Yep. My loss. Really annoyed with myself now. Dang it. Not going to buy it any more. It was amazing value at $100. Not so any longer. I was reading through the difference between the Fantic and Little intro when the missus delegated house work. Came back, no longer available at $100. Kicking myself so hard right now! :(

  • Wish we could find a common 10% off gc for sca.

  • Which is better, boss gloss or fully slick?

  • +1

Went to SCA to see Bowden's Own products. Saw the Big Green Sucker and was pretty impressed at how thick it is. Got 2 at the sale price. And some degreasers to boot too.
    Thank you OP
