  • Should probably add in price after 6m

    • +2

It's $79.99 after the 6 month period. Interestingly, the contract length is 6 months.

  • +2

Not really $59.99 a month. Tricky advertising.

    Min Charge is $494.88

NBN FTTN Gold Unlimited ($59.99 / month x 6) + Included WiFi Modem ($59.95 payable upfront) + Fetch TV (including set top box) $5 off Fetch for 24 months ($0 x 24 months) + Fetch Mini Set Up Fees ($59.99 payable upfront) + $15.00 freight charge on a 6 month contract. International rates vary by destination. All of our international rates can be found on our we

    • So it's not $59.95 a month for 6 months with a free fetch mini?

      • Need to add inclusions…Try to sign up and you will realise this.

    • +3

You can remove the modem and Fetch.

      • OP Should fix title.

    • +1

Minimimum charge is $360 with no modem or Fetch.
But after 6 months it gets expensive. 12 months is $840 already.

Belong is $660 for 12m, less referral credits.
For 6m it would be 330 +120 early cancel fee, less credits, keep the modem and $80 SIM.
By 8 months you are ahead, even with cancel fees.

If you just want service for a short time, Internode wins, with only a $40 break fee

  • +5

    Belong is cheaper @$55.

  • +5

I am happy with the Belong connection (after the initial install dramas) it's $55 for nbn50 ongoing. (the $55 and $65 plans are both nbn 50 and same speed. I tested this myself as did others on whirlpool). + $20 refer a friend credit and $80 loaded on a sim card.

    • Same

    • -1

Just check it is 30Mb (Starter) must contract for 12 mths to waive fee, so where is nbn50 coming from? Thanks

      • -1

30mbps is the minimum speed they guarantee from 7-11 but mine stays at 40-45

Fttn doesn't pull 50mbps here lol

        • 30mbps is the minimum speed they guarantee from 7-11

It isn’t a ‘minimum guaranteed speed’ at all for any RSP.

Typical Evening Speed indicates download speed and is measured between 7pm-11pm. FTTN, FTTC & FTTB speeds to be confirmed when active. Actual speed may vary due to various factors.

          • @Nousernamehere: Well, if they don't get it they will compensate

            • -2

              @Wilder94: No, they won’t.

              • +1

@Nousernamehere: They have to a friend of mine who didn't get the speeds so yea they will

                • @Wilder94: Yep sure thing.

Your ‘friend’ would have only been refunded if they signed up for a plan that was above their actual maximum sync speed.

A number of RSP’s were forced to refund customers after having them on plans their physical line couldn’t reach back on 2017/18 and since then RSP’s have been very careful about doing that. It’s the reason some (like Telstra) don’t even allow you to sign up for 100/40 plans right away (for FTTN/B/C) as they can’t guarantee the speed before you’re connected.

How much was your friend refunded then?

                  • @Nousernamehere: Something like $5 a month because they don't get the speeds they should lol

They're only on the NBN 50 aswell, I should probably do a speed test and see how bad it really is

                    • @Wilder94:

because they don't get the speeds they should

In what way? Sync speed or download speed? Are their speeds higher than that outside of peak hours then?

                      • @Nousernamehere: I'm not sure I never tested it they just told me they got contacted saying they'll get an amount off their bill because their speeds aren't what they should be, I'm assuming download

                        • @Wilder94: A RSP wouldn’t just give money off each month continuously if someone wasn’t hitting their download speed during peak times (was it a once off? To what site/s? How’d they prove it was a constant (and still continues to be) a ssue?)

Only way I could see them doing that would be if their sync speed was below 30Mbps, and even then Belong would have been better off releasing them from their contract to find an RSP who offers the 25/5 tier as the wholesale costs for the 50/20 AVC are basically what Belong are selling the service to your friend for. It literally makes no sense.

    • Hmm interested about belong. What do you use the free Sim card for? If you have good phone data already, can we sell it here in ozb?

    • Gonna switch to belong when my TPG contract expires just need to find a home phone line with unlimited local calls for $10/month or less.

Paying $70/month with TPG for 50/20 FTTN NBN unlimited so gotta switch that out asap.

      • I set my parents up with Exetel NBN recently and for $10 per month you can add the phone service with unlimited local, mobile and international (to several countries) calls. It's been great so far.

        • How much is that all together and what speed do you get with Exetel and is it unlimited. Sorry just couldn't tell from your comment what is included in the bundle plan.

        • +4

Except Exetel just put up their NBN pricing for new customers.

          • +3

@Spizz: Correct. They removed free first month promo, then remove 12 months contract option, then increase their price.

      • hmm i just calculated tpg actually is cheaper per month due to modem cost, and after 6month internode is more expensive.

        • Oh yeah Internode is a huge stay away for me no deal here to be found unless you have some old nostalgic strong Internode following.

Belong is the best I can find atm at $55/month 50/20 unlimited unless someone is offering something cheaper for more than $10/month savings otherwise $55 is the sweet spot.

Looks like I am stuck with TPG for 7 more months anyways on contract so I still have time to find the landline part.

          • @AlienC: evening speed is pretty important to me. is it worth saving $5 to go belong $65 instead of tpg? im not with nbn yet. belong has a terrible customer service rep from ozb, ive been with tpg before and service isnt that bad they answer the phone after 30 minutes and send technicians.

  • $64.95 with Kogan NBN every day price

    • Can u tell us more about the avarage speed / reliability??

      • It's 65.90 not 64 on Kogan website?
I'm with Kogan mobile but I feel internet connection is much more slower than Vodafone so not sure I want to try their nbn

      • +2

I've used it a fair bit. It's fine for domestic content. Get full speeds on 100/40 no matter the time. But if you're trying to pull stuff from overseas, it can be a mixed bag.

  • +8

I’m with internode. Service is bloody fantastic! Highly recommend this

    • +2

+1 from me as internode is a cut above the rest

Dont know why people negged you

      • Neither. Standard OZb

      • Thanks i signed up this morning checked back here and was like oh no! 😂

  • -3

With all the reports of NBN outages I plan to stay on ADSL as long as I can. I think only Telstra and Vodafone offer free fallback internet links for when NBN is down…is this still the case?

    • +4

Don't know about anyone else. I never had any NBN outage in 2 apartments for the past 3-4 years.

    • Had NBN for over 2 years with no issues FTTN

    • +2

Lots of ADSL outages. Maybe better stay with dial up? Or telegrams…

    • +2

My area has a lot of downtime. Both announced and unannounced. On HFC. It’s usually nbn “maintenance” or power outages

  • Never had Issues with NBN FTTP/Sydney Eastern Sub for 5+ years

  • I'm pretty happy with Exetel, had 2 months free and a modem free, $60 ongoing, I stuffed up not downgrading the plan earlier would have been $55

    • How? I see $69.99 with a $79 setuo fee

      • It was a deal around end of May, signing up to a 100mbps plan netted you two free months, then they got rid of their lower data and speed plans

        • Gotya. Oh well, I'm tossing up between Superloop and Internode. Want to keep my phone line active but make no calls - which rules out Belong).

And since Exetel and ABB have no deals going.

BTW I'm on TPG broadband, and they are hassling me to switch over.

          • @spy: Weird how they got rid of their lock in contracts at Exetel but I suppose that solves people going to the TIO to break their contracts hence saving them money

          • @spy: Might be worth seeing what telstra can offer on a no lock in contract on live chat you might score a free modem

          • +1

@spy: sign up to belong for internet and mynetfone for $5/year.
            https://www.mynetfone.com.au/whirlpool/VoIP/Plans

            • @follow: Genius. Suggested VoIP NBN modem/router?

              • +1

@spy: do you have a modem or router already? if you do just get an ATA e.g. Cisco SPA122. otherwise belong will provide an ok modem router.

                • @follow: But no VoIP.

                  • @spy: you plug the ATA into the ethernet ports or you can get a VoIP phone and plug directly into Ethernet port

  • What WiFi modem do they offer?

    • It'll probably be the TP-Link Archer VR1600v supplied with all TPG resold services.

  • +1

FYI, Internode seems to have rolled out the new TPG Novus system, so past performance is no indication of how this new service will work.

    • So people already with tpg will get this new system too? faster?

      • Maybe they use Internode customers as guinea pigs until the system obsmatude enough to roll out to TPG customers.

        • I'm pretty sure TPG customers have been on it for a while, but I've got no idea.

iiNet have been adding new customers in (including migrating those moving to NBN) since September 2018.

Anything with a compulsory modem, non-configurable VoIP or no included VoIP is almost certainly Novus.

    • That thing called nbn

  • Any existing customers had any luck?

    • Near impossible.

      • A little delay on the response but useful nonetheless

        • Wow. I just noticed when you posted it haha. Yeah mate, they wouldn't budge for me, a long term customer. Only option probably to go elsewhere then come back across.

  • $89 for tpg 100mb

  • Awesome! Almost go with ABB for the first month free. Save another $40 with this promo.

    • First month free not working

      • +1

ABB operator who called me after address checking said he could give me that, but this looks better, maybe should haggle a bit more with ABB when he calls again.

        • They rejected mine

  • Damn, another ISP that requires me to configure my (Optus provided Sagemcom F@ST 3864OP) BYO modem with their issued username and password (which even Sagemcom didn't know how to do when I called them) so I can't get this deal unless I buy their modem. Why do they do this when some others don't use a username and password so they work straight away with no issues eg: Aussie BB & Superloop. They have lost my sale.

    • curious - where does it say you'll need to get their modem in order to work? currently on ABB and would not like to change if it's going to be a pain as described.

      • Hey yeah it doesn't say it anywhere. I found out by ringing them up and asking. Different byo modems may work, but not my one as there is no known way to put in Internode's username and password. If your modem can do that, you might be ok.

  • I was comparing this with Tangerine NBN for my sister's apartment and I decided to go with Tangerine $59.90 - $25 (referral bonus) = $34.90 for the first month and $59.90 for next 5 months.
Because I already have the Tangerine NBN in my apartment and the speed is not so much different from my previous NBN connection with Aussie Broadband. For your information, it is FTTP NBN connection in Eastern Suburb.

    • After 6 months become $69.90? Too expensive

      • Well. Do you find any cheaper options? Please advise.

        • +1

          Belong.

          • @CyberMurning: I also looked at it but cant really decide after reading so many bad reviews. With Tangerine, I have almost max speed (43 Mbps) during peak hour in my area and there were $25 referall bonus.

            • @ozizoy: There are some good reviews too. I'm changing next month from tog to belong.

    • Bad experience with Tangerine, if your Sister uses Netflix, good luck to her.

  • I hate seeing the letters NBN. I can't believe how they have ballsed up the rollout.

  • Thinking about churning from ABB to Internode. I'm on a NBN HFC connection. Is it as simple as signing up with Internode, and the service continues with them (Similar to switching electricity or gas), or do I have to muck around with new logins on the modem/router?

  • I'm currently with Exetel, but am thinking of joining Internode for the 6 month special.

How does the connection speeds compare regarding Exetel and Internode?

I'm on HFC NBN and currently get around 44/18 on a 50/20 plan with Exetel.

Exetel charge a fee when paying by credit card, so I end up paying close to $61, so I thought why not give Internode a try.

Exetel has been slowing down a lot lately….

PS: Can I specify a connection date if I sign up for Internode now?
I need to give Exetel 30 days prior notice of disconnection….

  • Any feedback on internode v ABB and belong? I'm on the full priced version of this. Decent product, expensive though.
