  • Oh shit I wish I could dip into my holiday fund and grab two of these.

  • With The Code PEACHY15 I get this message Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again.

    • Are you an eBay plus member? If not, then that is probably why it's not working for you.

    • What sandman28 said- Plus members only. I did the same thing and then signed up.

  • Anyone running these can comment on the amount of noise they make? Idle, reading and writing?

I usually get WD red because they run at 5400rpm and also got burnt by the dm001 debacle, but have read Seagate have picked up their game.

    • Can you describe what’s happening on your WD red? I’m struggling which brand to pick

      • I picked reds (3tb and 6tb models) because they run cool and silent. No issues with them, though 1 out of the 4 reds I have used has died to running out of re-allocatable sectors. That's over a period of about 5 years, so not bad really.

I have read and heard the 8tb red are noisy when reading and writing which is a factor for me because of the physical location the drives are used. Hence my question about noise levels.

        • Both drives are hella loud when writing unfortunately.

    • They are a little noiser than the 6tb red drives but in terms of noise they are still a fairly quiet drive

You will probably notice the difference initially but after that probably not

    • +1

I bought this one 3 weeks ago and its have much less noise than my old WD hd
