  • That's a bargain price for a 14TB external but questionable reliability/warranty is making me hesitant.

Just return the drive to Bengalla for warranty.

If you have space for it, wouldn't two 10TB $200 drives be better?

Where can you get 10TB for $200?

      • Most probably but where would you get reputable 10TBs for $200?

They seem to have a '10TB' for a bargain $131 price but I think that's a typo in the title as the variant and description clearly say 2TB:

        https://www.amazon.com.au/Fantom-Drives-External-Hard-Drive/…

        • Ordered this 10TB anyway to see what arrives. Small chance might actually get one, if not, I'll probably return it. We'll see.

      • If you have space for it, wouldn't four 4TB $100 drives be better?

        • Yes, and would be ideal addressing four drives over one. But all my sata slots are occupied by 4tb drives already.

  • Reviews are a worry

Are you sure this is 14TB?
Reviews mention it to be 4TB and there is no other mention to 14TB on the entire site.

    • I looked at the Manufacturer reference GF3S14000EU and it points to the 14TB.

I also checked the same drive on the Amazon US site. Similar price after conversion. So hopefully it's not a price error!

      • Price has gone up on the US site…

    • Look at the listing, they sell multiple sizes so it makes sense that reviews will be of multiple sizes and the bad reviews are a few years ago generally.

  • must be a price error
    regular price is $700+ usd
would like to know what drive it is inside

  • +2

Bought one at $390…not sure it's a good purchase but definitely a bargain price… Guessing it was a pricing mistake so expecting a refund and maybe a $20 voucher! Can't find much info on these but hopefully a decent drive inside..

Seems it shot up in price after your purchase as there were 5 remaining on posting and now 4 left in stock.

Reviews suggest it's a Micronet rebranded HGST drive. Lots of complaints about them dying so consider shucking it for another more reliable controller.

      • +1

I had it added in the cart contemplating the purchase when I saw the price increase….thought I'd go ahead anyway regardless of the bad reviews - if nothing else as a mostly offline backup/archive for my nas.. a google search came up with the Micronet brand from China and Hitachi so you may well be right! i have plenty of spare Seagate casings from shucking so it might be worth swapping into one of those… or maybe just drop it in as an additional drive in the PC… cheers for the info anyway..

  • Missed it :(

  • It’s still avaliable

    • At $1445.15 !

  • That's a lot of data to lose in one go :|
