I've paid $143 for the MX500 1TB about a month ago. Why the sudden price hike?

GREED and quicker on the price jacking before sale :)

Jack kicks in

Any user feedback or comments on the monitor?

Hi Qbag,
I have one that I use for mmo gaming, netflix and some basic photoshop. Really good for the money, SUPER sharp…maybe sometimes things can look a little over-saturated. Stand is a little average, but that's being picky. 319…that's a very good price for the product.

Thanks for that- good to hear you're happy with it over a spread of different applications. Cheers

I need to replace my nearly-dead HDD on my 2015 HP Envy 15. Will the Crucial "MX500" 500GB SSD fit the bill or should I look at another brand like Samsung?

The crucial will be fine. The Mx line has dram for caching, so it will be significantly faster than the bx range - which you often see cheaper.
I don't think you world notice any difference between this and any theoretically faster ones.
