              • @eDust: Yes but some have dedicated locations for the negative terminal as they may have painted the frame.

              • @eDust: As long as you can find something which isn't coated (painted) and capable of taking the load.

  • Does anyone leave these in their car boot?
Is that a problem since it uses Lithium and I've seen countless videos of them on YouTube blowing up and causing fire?

    • I wouldn't be getting one.

Well, the whole point of having one is for emergencies so no point leaving it out of the car.

Saw this on the news- https://www.nbnnews.com.au/2019/04/06/portable-battery-pack-…

Mum did a great job getting her kids out of the car.

We sometimes leave our kids in the car (door open) in the garage when they fall asleep after school while we prepare dinner. Gives them an extra 30mins nap. After watching the above, no way I leave one in the car.

      • This is why the 60W versions would be a lot better (had to buy it when i was travelling in the US, not sold locally). Can be used to charge a laptop on the go, with these being good for road trips etc.

I've had mine for probably close to a year now and just leave it in the boot. Used some velcro on the case so it sits nicely and doesn't move around. No dramas for me.

    • I bought one of these about 4 years ago (not this brand, but another LiPo jump start battery). It's great when you need it and it's charged, but it loses charge after a few months. Be certain to get it out and check it every now and then.

  • Anyone know if it's possible to delay delivery with amazon. Am away for 2 wks but want to order this…

    • Send it to a mate. Post office will generally hold it for 2 weeks anyways, as long as its a signature required.

That said, parcel collect will also do 10 business days, if youre actually going away for no more than 2 weeks.

    • Pretty sure you can ask your local post office to hold it. I did way back, not sure if it was policy or politeness though.

How long do these hold their charge?

    • +2

3 months, based on what the manufacturer claims.

  • ~edit … got my answer

If your battery was completely dead, i guess you could disconnect it and connect this jumper straight to the car instead. Once the car has started you could reconnect your battery.

How many charge cycles should this unit provide? I ask because early models of this kind of device only worked 6 times or so.

    • I always use 2 terminals under the bonnet as they’re easier to access than the battery in the boot.

    Cheers BA :)

  • Thanks OP, purchased.

  • Can you bring this on a plane?

  • +1

i still can't see the point to buy this , if i can't leave it in the car all the time for emergency situation. what the odd this battery can blow on summer heat in the car

  • Total came to $104.98 including $5.99 postage

    Thanks OP.
We had to wait 3 hours for NRMA once with a flat battery. I always said I must get one of those jump start thingies, but never got round to it, until now. Good insurance.

  • I carry a set of jumper leads in the boot
I also bought a manual so it can be jump started
So I used to be a mechanic

    • Not much of a mechanic if you need to read the manual to know how to jump start.

(Roll start, not jump start, is what manual transmission cars are good for for those who don't get/appreciate the joke.)

      • -1

Little kid, a manual is a manual car! not an automatic car.
OK, how fast do you have to go to 'roll' start an automatic, since you know it all

We say 'jump' start a car as we use JUMPer leads

Or you can roll start a manual car. Which gear should you have it in to roll start a manual car?

Do you know how to jump start a car? or do you have to read a manual!

        • Jeez, I even already included an explanation - you said you bought a manual so it can be jump started - any car can be jump started, I was poking fun at you for saying jump when you obviously meant roll.

If you seriously want to know how to roll start I already explained it in an earlier post.

  • My battery jump-starter arrived yesterday.
It's pretty good and it has a nice feature where the LED can work as a strobe for 'S.O.S.' signals too.

Also, clamps are included, along with an operating instruction manual, …all in a nice, carry bag.
