  • How would this notebook go playing online games like fortnite, Roblox etc? My son is saving for a PC to play games like that. Thanks

  • ta bring us a y740 15 deal pls

  • NotebookCheck just released it's review for the ThinkPad E495 and it seems pretty good for a budget notebook with a decent but dim screen and improved battery life compared to the previous model (E485).

    • 63.3% of sRGB is terrible even for budget laptop (my 4 year old laptop has 92% sRGB), brightness at 230 will make outdoor/train use challenge and the biggest downer is no backlit keyboard. I'll pass.

The keyboard on these laptops suck. Who puts the Fn key where the Ctrl key is suppose to go!

I also find the screen goes black for half a second when dealing with higher graphics load.

    • • Yep Ctrl and Fn keys are swapped around. Bad for keyboard gaming.
      • thick bottom bezel
      • average screen and battery.

You get what you pay for.

      • I have just received mine which was purchased from the last offer from TA (thanks). I am using it as an alternative to my old desktop for housekeeping / administrative tasks. It is convenient to have a decently powerful laptop so you don't need to be "anchored" in front of a desktop.

Yes, the Ctrl and Fn buttons are swapped - quite annoying as it takes time getting used to. Thinkpad keyboards are one of the more reputable ones from what I gather.

The screen is fine, not the brightest but not terrible either. In relation to battery life, I think 6-8 hours is probably in the ballpark. I think that's perfectly fine too - "back in the days", laptops only lasted 2-3 hours re battery.

Yes, it is not the most "aesthetic" (i.e.) slim, but it is neither bulky or ugly either. Thinkpads are a bit like a Rolex watch, they are about a timeless design. It is still relatively sleek.

I cannot complain about the laptop, for the price incl. cashback. Yes, you get what you pay for, however, eI do not think you can find better at the price.

Can I play world of warships with this laptop?

  • Needing to buy laptop for first of my 4 kids going to high school next year, I’m thinking this would be a bit too heavy to drag to school and back each day, but would be happy to be told otherwise. If too heavy, any other recommendations for something similar but lighter in similar price bracket?

    • I'm going to go for a Dell Inspiron 14 5000 for my daughter which has full HD touchscreen and a nice backlit keyboard. Also a little nicer design. They were on sale recently for $850 (albeit with a 128GB SSD) - looks like that model has been superseded. I'd expect the new model to be available for close to that around Black Friday.

  • Sold out already… are you kidding me

  • My order was dispatched this morning, now with DHL in MATRAVILLE, NSW, looks like it's really 2 days this time.

  • Any chance this will be back in stock before the sale ends?

  • Received mine from the last deal, it came with one bright dead pixel on mine. Not happy.
