This is a rubbish overpriced system…

    Wire free? OOOOOOOH!

Plenty of systems out of China now for a couple of hundred but the install will set you back $500-600 easy!

If I didn't just have one installed I'd SERIOUSLY consider this system. Sometimes you just simply need wireless. It's a plus from me!

This is a rubbish overpriced system…

      It's a plus from me

      Well that escalated quickly

      • No it didn't 'escalate quickly'.

I was trying to highlight the fact that what made it good value was the fact it was wireless vs paying a professional installer to set it all up!

You can get even cheaper with Amazon + Cashback/Shopback

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Eufy-Wire-Security-2-Camera-T8801C…

    • That's 2-camera, and from what I've seen the cameras are around $250 each

        Buy 2? Still cheaper?

        • And sell one base station!

Beware about purchasing this system. It has a major flaw where in it won't record locally if the internet is down or disconnected.

    https://community.anker.com/t/eufy-security-no-recordings-wh…

    • My recordings are stored locally on the SD card when internet is down. I just checked

      • +1

Check the link. It won't continue recording if the internet is down or it gets disconnected from the network.

It's ridiculous considering that one of its major features is the local recording capability.

        • From the link, it seems that this is a bug and they intend to fix it through a firmware update?

          • +1

@FlyFire: I don't see any acknowledgement of the exact issue officially. Until they do that or actually fix it, there's no way anyone should lay down a $1000 for such a flawed and IMO useless system.

Why can't a company just give us a simple wireless system that doesn't require an online connection? I may have to ask Snowden what he recommends other than moving to Russia.

  • +1

It won't able to record the first few second once motion is detected as the cameras need to turn on. So you need to place the camera is a location where there plenty of time to catch the person face.

It seemed to be an ideal kit for those that want a simple wireless set up with good image quality. Unfortunately it has too many issues and at least one critical flaw that makes it worthless IMO.

  • This or Arlo Pro 2?

    • +1

Look in to the Hikvision Ezviz C3W setup with NVR. I was looking in to the arlo system but gave that a crack and its great and alot cheaper

      • Thanks, but Ezviz C3W is outdoor and I am looking for indoor camera.

        • U dont necessarily need to use the C3W then. For indoors give the C2C, C3A and/or C6P. U can mix and match depending on what setup you want to go with.

      • can you tell me more about your setup? Im interested. I want one for the side and front of my house.

        • +1 to more info ;)

@SBOB: I got 4 x C3W cameras + 1 x C3A with a 1tb Ezviz 8 Channel NVR. The NVR and cameras have their own wifi connection to each other. So itll record straight to the NVR via it's own wifi Connection. So no network cables need to be laid. Each camera also has a Micro SD insert to store footage as well. Set the NVR up to connect to internet and view you footage on your phone. App is easy to use and navigate. All the cameras do exactly what the Arlos do. I managed to get a 4 camera and NVR system for $500 delivered.

            • @IVN86: where did you source that from?
Got a link you can share?

also, those cameras need mains power correct? or at least a 12v DC wire ran to them for power. Not battery/re-chargeable

does it do motion notifications also?

              • @SBOB: There are a few Australian electronic companies that pop up when you do a Google search that sell them. There is a direct Ezviz Australia store as well. Cheapest price I found was on Ebay whilst using a 20% discount code.

Yes that's correct. The C3W uses a main power which plugs in to a PowerPoint. But otherwise you can piggyback wires and utilised a '413' plug in the ceiling. (https://www.sparkydirect.com.au/p/932617/surface-socket-back…)

The C3A is like the arlo cameras where it is rechargeable battery or solar panel (still trying to find a supplier in Aus or to Aus). So you can utilise all C3A cameras instead of the C3W.

And yup does all the motion detection and notification plus talk through phone to camera etc.
