Agree that it's the cheapest at the moment but when that cheapest was $1196 plus delivery it's hard to stump up an extra $250

    • True.
Unless in a rush, I would wait!

That's why I like credit cards with price protection - buy it now, use it now, but pay the futures lower price.. (assuming it does fall that low again).

I did that a while ago with a tv from the good guys.
Tv went on clearance a month after I got it, so I claimed it on my card…

And then also claimed at the good guys against their own price protection policy. Took $1100 off in one day 🥳

        My proudest moment

    • I was totally surprised to see it hit that low when I was shopping for the '7'
I waited a little too long ("I'll get it tomorrow") and missed it.

If it hits that mark again, even with a pre-order/few-weeks wait, i'm purchasing straight away

      ….fingers crossed

  • Was able to haggle both Harvey Norman and Good Guys down to $1420 when they were recently reduced around $1499

  • Love my 65R8, no regrets with the purchase!

Just a FYI that this company uses TNT Express for their courier service so expect delivery issues https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/tnt-express

    • Lol show me a courier with positive reviews on that site.

I bought a 65R8 3 weeks ago and have already had to call Hisense to get the latest firmware for it.

    • Audio not synced with video (watching people talk was particularly annoying)
    • Forgetting/Wiping the channel FAV memory
    • Always booting up on the lowest channel (2 ABC) instead of the channel I left it on when it was switch off.

Don't get me wrong, picture quality is amazing but these quirks are annoying and the firmware update better fix them or ill return for a refund.

    • Just curious what firmware you have? Mine is out of the box without any updates and I haven't noticed any of those issues.

      • J0526. You?

    • I’ve had a few issues too. Picture quality is amazing. Have some issues with the hdmi and antenna sockets. Why did you need to call hisense about the firmware? Can’t you update via wifi / Ethernet?

      • Nope only software updates are provided online, they don't publish actual firmware.

They said they will post the firmware out on a usb stick by express post tomorrow.

The consultant said, "Ah yes…. This firmware is to fix those exact issues you've mentioned"

        So I have high hopes.

        • Just bought this TV but not connected it up yet. Could you please please upload the firmware for it somewhere? I'll send you like an ozbargain cheeseburger coupon or something :)

@cunningdrew: Yep I'd be happy to. I'm not sure in what way the file will arrive, I know it'll be on a USB but maybe its a bootable usb update program and i can't access the file itself if I put it in my PC. Regardless once done, if it fixes it i'll be happy to send onto someone else that needs it.

I got mind about 3 weeks ago with PAPA code 20% off on Ebay.TV is great but not this model an Android TV OS so no Playstore. USB cannot use a wireless mouse/keyboard with a wireless dongle and also no voice control. This is really negative, but not a big deal.

  • Okay, so what is the Samsung or Sony equivalent of this model?

  • as I remember, voice control is available since R7. How OZ 1 can't find it?
