Hi Guys

Similar to this deal

We have restocked on this model in the same configuration. These were popular during the last promo and we sold out in a few hours. Although the discount provided by eBay isn't as high as last time. With the 10% off it still represents a cracking price for a well spec'd machine.

  • CPU is just 10% slower than the latest Ryzen 3500U. Excellent package overall

    • +25

      9% Slower
      233% More Power Usage
      247% Weaker GPU

I agree It's an excellent package, but your statement doesn't tell the whole story. The power efficiency probably wouldn't be an issue to most as it translates to only a few dollars a year difference, and I doubt there's much heat in these packages. But that embedded GPU score, It's weak, with no ability to upgrade.

Get a dedicated card is an upgrade option

      • True. I completely forgot about graphics coz I thought people wouldn't game on these things.

  • +1

Good value. I bought one last time but I was not able to get 4k@60HZ, only @30HZ for some reasons.

I bought a ALOGIC 20cm ACTIVE DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI Adapter and a Premium HDMI Cable v2.0 on eBay. My TV is a LG E8 which is a 2018 model so definitely has HDMI 2.0.

My machine also has two display ports

    • Adapters tend to be the cause!

  • Could you please advise the RAM configuration (2x4 or 1x8) and whether it takes DIMM or SODIMM?

    • Hi Mate, It's SODIMM, ram configurations may be mixed sorry.

      • Can RAM be upgraded to 16gig?

        • yes, in the listing theres an option to upgrade. If you click on it, it will take you to a new page to purchase the upgrade.

        • I had a 1x8 configuration so i just added another 1x8 to reach 16. Works perfectly but as Calmago has said, configurations may be mixed. I bought 3 units last time and they were all 1x8

    • -1

Basically these units come as 2x4gb so that’s sucks to upgrade

      • Mine was 1x8gb so YMMV.

  • Wish this was on sale with 20% off :P

  • looks like a good deal. How much does Windows Pro alone cost for the average Joe? I will check.

    $199.99

      Probably an unactivated win10pro

      • +5

All of our products are licensed and activated.

        • Is a license key provided in case you need to reinstall?

          • +3

@ck16: Sure is, if it's a Windows 7 COA it will be attached to the machine. If it's 8 or Higher it should be embedded into the system firmware and will automatically activate.

        • I'd prefer no license if it would make it cheaper.

          • +6

@fredblogs: OEM windows keys are on the range of $4-$5, and OEMs lose this pricing if they sell unactivated devices.

            So not really possible.

  • Does it come with a TAX invoice?
Wouldn't mind getting a few for work.

    • Yes, every order is shipped with a tax invoice.

  • Any way to request a 1x8GB SODIMM configuration?

    • No sorry.

    • It's all 2x4gb ram configuration, which makes it sucky to upgrade.

Also, the case is too small for a dedicated graphics card of any kind.

What would this be like as a Plex server? I'm looking to replace an aging Dell Optiplex with an i5 3570 CPU.

    • +1

I would love to know this as well. If anyone has feedback or better recommendations for a media server/plex

    • For 4K HDR, Google say, NO

    • +2

Probably won't make much of a difference. Passmark score of your current CPU is 7139, whereas this i7 is 7305.

According to the Plex website, trancoding of a single 1080p video requires a score of 2000.

      • Thanks. I had in my mind my CPU passmark was around 2000. Think I'm thinking of the transcoding number you mention. So in a nutshell, no point all all for me changing.

      • Not saying you're wrong, was wondering whether the score of 2000 was referring to the 3Dmark score of the GPU, rather than the Passmark score of the CPU?
Would make more sense if his 3570 was struggling, as its embedded Intel HD Graphics 2500 give a 3Dmark score of 293.
Comparatively, the 4675T CPU above has Intel HD Graphics 4600 and a 3Dmark score of 713.

    • Your optiplex already can do quicksync i think, do you have the Plex pass and hardware transcoding enabled? Works great for x264.

    • As a Plex server, it does the job well, but really depends on your media and setup.
I don't have any 4K videos, but plenty of Blu Ray videos, and I use one of these and find it downloads the videos from Google Drive and plays them almost instantly, with little to no buffering.
That's as a Plex server, feeding to an Apple TV 4K and Nvidia Shield.

I wouldn't use it as a HTPC however.

  • how would this function as a media player? would the graphics handle 1080p / 4k ?

    Hi, thanks for sharing.

    A few queries:
    1. Is the platform overclockable?
    2. Noise levels under load?
    3. (typical) time in service? ie. 5 years old
    6. Can the WiFi adapter be upgraded to AC?

    Cheers

      1. No
      2. Loud
      3. 5+ years
      4. No

    Any refurb latitude 7390s?

  • Product description says HDMI port is optional. How do we add one?

    • the obvious route. DP to HDMI adapter.

    • +1

      Two different things

We offer the same machine, but cheaper

      Link

    • This with a low profile 1650 and a i7 4770 or 4790 and you have a pretty decent SFF 1080p gaming machine.

      • low profile cards don't fit in this case.

  • i7s are pretty warm aren't they? Would there be thermal throttling in a device like this, much like a lot of the ryzen laptops?

  • Can this run dota with basic setting?

    • Uhh… Maybe at 720p?

  • Weird question : could you put a Firewire card in these? Just wondering if this would be a good little music production PC and I have a Firewire soundcard/keyboard - that is still decent quality but my laptop doesn't have FW.

    • +1

No. This is tiny and you can't add PCI cards.

Plenty of other Lenovo models can be upgraded though.

      • Thanks mate!

  • Out of stock :(
    got any more?

  • Calmago - do you have any suggestions on a machine that you have for sale that has a i7-4770 that can be upgraded to a low profile graphics card (eg GTX 1050 etc)?

  • +2

It's the quick and the dead on OzB… while procastinating about this one it went out of Stock :( Moral of the story is don't think, just buy.

An invaluable lesson that will serve you well.

you can get decent Intel i5 variants of these Lenovo Thinkcentres,
and they are quite good too (with 8GB of RAM).

I have bought 3, in the last 1.5 years and they're great for basic tasks (web-surfing, Photoshop, audio work/encoding, etc.) for the price too (cost about AU$ 200+ before coupons/vouchers)

    • +1

stay posted to the listing, I've seen a couple of cancelation requests. The quantity will bump back up.

  • Hi ACT assoc.,
You seem to be an honest seller so I wanna ask you first.
I got one of these the other day and currently using it fine.
The other day it got Lenovo BIOS updates and failed to boot up - error 1962 no operating system.
Although I got it working now with google's help should I be concerned of this error? Should I stop having BIOS updates from Lenovo?

    • Thats a weird one, it might be that the BIOS update changed something in the BIOS settings. Like EUFI/ Legacy boot or even SATA operation would cause that problem.

      • HI,

I bought one of this and after I upgrade the firmware, it is died and only show the Lenovo Logo on the screen, what I can do? I tried to contact your guys through ebay and get no response. Please help. Thank you

  • Hi OzB fam, could I pick anything up under $300 that would best my current rig?
    It's a Toshiba satellite with an i5 3339Y CPU @ 1.50ghz.
    4gb ram
    100gb SSD

Don't mind a desktop as long as it could play 4k UHD via HDMI.
I'm guessing a desktop probably uses more power than a laptop but not too much more?
I need to leave PC running non stop for hobby/work is why I'm asking.
    Thanks guys!

  • Dear Rep, I am interested in this item at this price, is there anymore stock available?

  • Any more cancellations @Calmago?

The computer I received has had this constant "Disk Usage 100%" issue, very slow almost unusable.

After research on the Internet, this link helped me fix the issue.

    https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-windows-10-100-percent-disk-us…

.. just hope it can help anyone have the same issue.
