      The Thinkpad legendary quality was when they were made by IBM / Early Lenovo (and cost a small fortune!) . Lenovo took the brand downmarket and quality suffered.

      Not saying they don't still make some good models.

          @oznik: fwiw neither the Gen2 Lenovo repaired nor the Gen3 I've had for 14-16mths has experienced any issues, hinge-related or otherwise.

      The Gen 2 had issues with the backplate cracking after a while. The cause was something to do with the hinges' range of movement. Lenovo repaired under warranty even if outside warranty period.

  I've had a X1 Yoga G3 for the last 12 months and had zero issues as well. It (along with myself) has taken over 60 flights in that time and done a lot of work in a bunch of laptop unfriendly locations. Assuming they are the same across the range of course, mine is i7 with the pen and touch screen so not exact same as this deal.
