Warning:These are known for quality issue, things will start to fall apart after 12 months

    • +1

That’s what the 3 years warranty is for!

But curious how this could happen to a product with the thinkpad name?

      • +1

The Thinkpad legendary quality was when they were made by IBM / Early Lenovo (and cost a small fortune!) . Lenovo took the brand downmarket and quality suffered.

Not saying they don't still make some good models.

        • +1

Really miss those days when IBM Thinkpad had a design center in Japan and some high end models were actually made in Japan and Mexico

    • Source?

Hmm I have the X1 carbon sibling laptop and its built like a tank and fully serviceable.

What issues does the yoga have?

      • Replied to person below

        • Thanks for the info, sounds like i dodged a bullet going for the simpler hinge model.

          • @oznik: fwiw neither the Gen2 Lenovo repaired nor the Gen3 I've had for 14-16mths has experienced any issues, hinge-related or otherwise.

    • More info? I have a gen2 and would like to know what to look out for.

      • +1

The Gen 2 had issues with the backplate cracking after a while. The cause was something to do with the hinges' range of movement. Lenovo repaired under warranty even if outside warranty period.

        • Cheers good to know.

Mines been fine - bought in February no issues.

Personally,I had totally 4 thinkpads old and new, all have no issues after many years of usages

  • I've had a X1 Yoga G3 for the last 12 months and had zero issues as well. It (along with myself) has taken over 60 flights in that time and done a lot of work in a bunch of laptop unfriendly locations. Assuming they are the same across the range of course, mine is i7 with the pen and touch screen so not exact same as this deal.

  • Wish this had 16 gigs of ram, Would've been perfect. Urghhh!

  • SSD seems small for the price
