froberts2 is spot on as to the reason for the promotion. Have a look at http://www.slurpee.com.au/ and to the Twitter posts from Americans who are tweeting about looking forward to free slurpees tomorrow, 7/11 (from their perspective).
That's only in America, our 7/11 is on the 7th of November as confirmed on Facebook.
