Tiger Tuesday has a been bit of a yawn recently. These fares just don't impress me.

    • Given they burn approx $26 worth of fuel Sydney <> Gold Coast per passenger - it seems pretty impressive they would supply that service for $51.

Seems like a pretty tough buck to me.

        Okay but https://specials.virginaustralia.com/au/sale/tropical-escapeā€¦ Sydney <> Cairns $139.

And for some reason (???) the destination is of no consequence just the fuel burn.

Cairns is 2.9x the distance. $51 x 2.9 = $147.90 - so in addition to beating the price, they provide me with a seat, luggage, snack, movie streaming to my phone and, in my specific case, lounge access.

But really toe-to-toe Tiger just isn't impressing me anymore. Seems like they've upped their fares to try and return a profit.

        • To be fair, 2.9x the distance isn't 2.9x the fuel. A lot of it is used for the takeoff.
