Pick shows 2 display ports - are you sure it has HDMI?

    • Woops our bad fixing up the post. Thanks for the notice.

These make great Plex Servers, especially with the Intel 6th Gen QuickSync! I had a G2 but found a cheap G3 I couldn't pass on.

Internally, they have normal m.2 for nvme SSD, a m.2 for WiFi+BT upgrade, a 2.5" tray for SATA HDD, and 2 x DDR4 SODIMM.

I recon $350 would be a better price point!

    • I agree, I'd buy two at $350 each

  • Are memory upgrades available as part of this purchase? for example, can i replace the 1x8GB stick with a 1x16GB stick (leaving the second slot free)?

    • Hi there,

We currently are not doing memory upgrades for these but you can do it yourself. They are quite easy to open and configure.

        1x8GB or 2x8GB?

  • Just be wary these have the "T" processors, while not as low in performance as the "M" these would really struggle for many use cases.
I won't neg the post, but at $400 I don't see this as a deal.

1 year warranty is good, but wonder if it covers the SSD.
I am really cautious of buying SSD's second hand without stating the remaining drive life. Many older models won't have much life if the paging file was on the SSD and the box had low memory. But conversely I have seen refurbs with 99% life left on the SSD!!

    • Out of interest, what's the process/software to assess the remaining life of an SSD? I bought a return with and SSD recently (WorkVentures Dell 9020 USFF) and would like to know! Thanks

        • Thanks!

          • @Qbagger: Agree Crystal Disk Info is good, but often the native toolkit\dashboard has this information under health status.
Just be sure that SMARTS status hasn't been disabled in the bios.

SMART health status are indications, based on the number of writes and failure rates and the projections are rarely linear. So you will see a bit of variation between tools.

  • Can this be used for a NAS? Does anyone know how many SATA ports it has ??

    • 1 SATA port so it should be obvious whether this is suitable for NAS. The answer is no, unless you want to use USB HDD/SSDs (don't do that).

Actually with so many USB ports, it would work great as a NAS if you add a 4 Port USB 3.0 enclosure to it, or incrementally buy something like WD Passport drive(s).

A spindle drive will only deliver < 150MB/s read throughput, regardless of SATA or USB - SATA SSDs around 550MB/s, so USB 3 will be more than sufficient for a serving up most files based on a typical home network (5Ghz- 867mbps - ie around 108MB/s)

Source: I have a config just like this
