Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm viewing on mobile via flaky internet connection but it looks like the $49 minimum purchase for free shipping with Prime is currently gone.

Eg 2 gallons of Elmer's glue (probably worthy of a seperate bargain https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B002FTOBZE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i… )

Edit: terms and conditions thanks to Selenium. "Limited time only" so get in quick

Perfect sniffing material right there. Definitely cheaper than petrol.

    • Not that kind of glue.

  • +3

I don't know when they changed it back. Items on Amazon US sold by 3rd party sellers and fulfilled by Amazon are shipping to Australia again! I haven't tried anything not fulfilled by Amazon yet.

    • All that means is that it isn't in Amazon's warehouse. If it's fulfilled by Amazon, then it's in their warehouse, and therefore "Prime".

  • -1

The item I want is out of stock but I can order. It says that it will be fulfilled in a month. Now if I join prime and order it then cancel prime and it ships a month later will free shipping still apply?

    • Yes

  • Shopback! Why have you forsaken us??

  • +1

    Nice find OP!

2x Wyze Cams for $85 delivered vs $95 straight from Amazon US.

    • Link pls?

    • +3

Pardon the ignorance but couldn't help notice the form factor is the same as Xiaomi's Xiaofang range.

Haven't seen a tech specs comparison, but are they the same?

      • Yeah they're the same. Much cheaper to buy the xiaofang!

      • The hardware is exactly the same - Both Xiaomi Xiaofang and Wyze camera are manufactured by Hualai.

Wyze is US company and I think they used to have exclusive right reselling this camera in US.
Both Xiaomi and Wyze develop their own firmware for the camera and have its own app ecosystem.

Most complaints are for xiaomi's firmware as they are only licenced to be operated in China but other than that its fine.
So be careful when buying the xiaofang as you might not be able to use it.

        • Totally fine to use the xiaofangs (no matter what mac address) here on the latest firmware and app these days.

Wondering if you can flash wyze firmware on the xiaofang and use their app though?

    • I would avoid the cams manufactured by unknown chinese company.

Basically, the cam security is not that secure when you look into the software stack. Many chinese web sites exposure the streaming cams which are hacked. That is one of the reasons the security cam product releases the update frequently.

But if you think you want to be a celebrity on the cyber world, then this kind of copy cat is what you have been looking for. Just go for it mate!

      • +1

        Just go for it mate!

        Will do, thanks!

      • +1

If you care about this, you would be running it locally anyway.

      • I would avoid the cams manufactured by unknown chinese company

What makes you think the known one does not have backdoor or does not spy on you? If I'm the Chinese Government I will be putting my effort to put backdoor on the known brand.

        • Ow i see how you think about chinese government. Okay, I need to avoid all cams from chinese company then. The known product would have more chance to be detected by some professional as they would be sold in many places. Is it enough for your question?

          • @[Deactivated]: Well-known brands ( which likely to be owned and controlled by state government ) historically have been caught with sophisticated "accidental" backdoors. Just google Hikvision backdoor or Dahua backdoor and you'll see a pattern where people discovered their backdoors , they release update and patch it, but after few iterations, new backdoors get discovered.

Now most organisations that have the resources to scrutinise and detect vulnerabilities on their system have moved away from these Chinese well-known CCTV brands.

Okay, I need to avoid all cams from chinese company then.

If you are really serious about security and privacy then yes - avoid at all cost.
I personally don't think my self as an interesting target - simply too poor and too boring. Most people that buy el cheapo camera fall under this category, so I dont think anyone would put any effort into planting backdoor for these el-cheapo cameras.

    • How do you plug these in? Like you have to have them next to / near a power point? No poe or anything? Like I just want a camera indoors facing the front door can record back to server, can this do that?

      • I have mine near enough to power points and they run off micro-USB. I know a few people who run them over PoE splitters that have the required inputs. Not sure on the server recording (I'm not that tech-savvy), I use a 128GB micro SD card which seems to give about 2wks HD recording.

  • Amazing news, thanks!

    any deals/?

  • Any idea on end date?

Nostradamus stated the "King of Terror" would come from the sky in "1999 and seven months" So that's July 1999!… Oh… you mean for the free shipping deal? My mistake.

      • lol I wonder if people were freaking the fk out in july 1999

      • If you make every prediction possible, a small percentage are going to come true.

Having a weird name also helps.

        • Perhaps we should ask Elon Musk when he thinks the free shipping deal will end?

  • +2

    Damn it!
I bought something yesterday from US for $25 with $8 shipping.
Is there anything I can do about it?

    • +2

have a try online customer service?

technically you can still return/cancel the order since it is not shipped yet so i suppose they are more than happy to give you a credit

      • +9

I checked the order. Apparently it is already shipped.
I'm on the phone to them now. They weren't aware that there is currently no minimum spend for Prime members. On hold while they check it out.

        EDIT: They refunded it :)

I had horrible experience with fastway, horrible, I was expecting a parcel from newegg and when it arrived to Sydney it was stuck for a week without a tracking update where it is. When I called them they've put the blame on aus post. When I called aus post they said they have nothing to do with it and that I should press fastway. Then somones finally at fastway decided to get off their ass and have a look around the warehouse… It was Friday I was told they'll deliver it over weekend as an apology for neglecting the parcel delivery. Sunday, midday I called the courier directly on his mobile and he said how he made no such statements and that I'll have to wait for some time next week to receive it whenever the road takes him my way (I'm in Sydney west, Liverpool area, not the end of the world) then he snapped at me, started swearing and said that he'll mark my parcel as not delivered, that he visited few times, no one was there, no one to call back after leaving the calling card and that he'll return my parcel back to the store that I've purchased it from if I make another enquiry regarding what's going on with my parcel that's already now been for more then 10 business days in their warehouse without any attempt made to deliver it to me.

Awful, awful, awful. I've reported them to newegg and you should too! So they lose they're contract.

better off making a meme of it and sharing it round

Anyone have a list of items which I can use this deal for?

    • -1

      Yeah I do! Amazon.com

      • +1

Sweet, that did the trick! Thanks.

  • +2

    Waiting for ShopBack upsized cashback!

  • +1

About Fastway, Amazon used only once to deliver a parcel to me and it was the fastest delivery I have ever had with Amazon and no issues with it.

  • +4

    What should I buy??

    • I bought these cable clips which were made in the USA and shipped from there too for like $3. Don't need them just seeing if I could buy something shipped from the US for $3.

  • +9

Glad Press 'n Seal is good stuff: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B00KKC6C2I/

As an alternative to regular glad wrap - it sticks to just about anything, including paper plates, wooden bowls, even those old plates that have gotten scratched up in the dishwasher.

    • Ah that must be the stuff that the Binging With Babish guy uses. His cling wrap always goes on perfect and he doesn’t need to tuck it under. I waste half a roll of cling wrap anytime I use it trying to get the mongrel to stick.

    • have a +1, purchased on ur recommendation, thx..

    • Are these washable and reusable? I thought it was just a sturdier, clingier glad wrap thing but some of the reviews are suggesting otherwise :O

      • +1

There's some usage videos on YouTube.

You could probably re-use the stuff - if you're careful when removing it - it does stick to itself but not in the same way as regular glad wrap, so it's a bit easier to straighten out.

It's thicker and has some kind of self-adhesive quality. We've mainly been using it for sealing food on plates and in dishes where the regular stuff just won't stick properly.

It's probably worth noting that the Americans label the sizes differently - where we show the sizes as length in metres, they show it as area in square feet.

        • Thanks. I already went ahead and ordered one anyway since I can see myself getting some usage out of it regardless. Lack of Aussie availability would just make them an even better deal if I can get multiple uses here and there :P

    • Another plus 1 from me ,also bought on your recommendation.

    • Hahaha damn… didn't need it but bought it anyway. OzBargain!!!!

    • When you guys get yours, take note of how to rip a piece off. I did it wrong the first couple of times, and it just wouldn't tear properly.

You need to pull out the required length, then close the lid and tear upwards against the edge of the closed lid. There's no metal serrated edge, but the cardboard edge works well.

    • Great reviews but is it a good price? Quick google mentions best speakers <$50 (obviously $US though)..

I bought a pair of Polk's from a previous deal, otherwise these sound like an awesome pair…

  • My recent amazon US order was delivered by FedEx

  • -1

I ordered this https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B00OJOIWW6 for the driveway, battery powered. Hopefully its good

    • -2

      Looks like crap to me

  • All these Fastway horror stories making me worried for my next purchase, too bad we cant select which company we want….

    • Even if something bad does happen, Amazon will readily provide a credit or refund for even the littlest thing, so the worse that can happen is you won't get the item, and were out of pocket for a few days.

      • True this. I had a skillet arrive with the handle snapped clean off. After a bit of fiddling around on the website, I eventually got a number to call, with an immediate refund, no need to send it back.

      • Even with a refund, I was still shortchanged $3 due to the currency conversion. And I've been waiting for those bloody Tool albums for more than a decade. Amazon didn't even give me a choice between replacement or refund. Since the price of the album went up so much more than what I paid during the preorder they wanted to cash in. Got refund back for two albums, can't even buy one album now

  • +7

With the exchange rate all time low, this deal isn't as attractive and I guess that's why they have it

    • -8

You do know that you pay in AUD?

      • +1

And that AUD amount is higher than usual due to the poxy exchange rate.

        Lucky i'm here…

      • You know you're getting shortchanged with Amazon's rubbish conversion rates? Hand in your ozbargain card, mate.

  • +9

Usually with this deal I start looking at a bunch of stuff and before you know it I'm over $49 anyway, LOL.

Gotta love Fastway, somehow manage to break a cast iron pan.

    • Cast Iron Pans can sometime be very easy to break because of included defects in the casting.

To be honest if they managed to break it during shipping they probably did you a favour :) Better than not discovering the defect until you manage to break it yourself a year or two after purchase.

Random purchase suggestion: if you have any designs on hanging something on a gyprock wall, you could do worse than to get these Toggler Snaptoggles:

    4-pack $13.19
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Toggler-Snaptoggle-Toggle-Drywall-…

    20-pack - $31.35

You can't get these in Australia.

Given that $50 isn't a huge amount of purchasing to qualify for free US shipping, I'm a little perplexed by all the upvoting. Just by adding a couple of items I'm already over $50 hence negating the benefits of the promotion…

However the fact that free shipping from USA exists at all IS a big deal, previously it was pointless to order from Amazon US due to the delivery costs.

    • +1

I upvoted you but there's still some international deals where you have to pay shipping, whether it's over $50 or not. Laptops for example.

      • Just done lots of browsing around US and AU Amazon sites and yes, the free shipping applies to eligible items only, it's not across the board.
