I just got one but haven't test it yet. But $149 for a polisher + 2x battery + charger, it cann't be wrong.

I know it might not be a good polisher (not Dual Action), and I do not even expect it can perform same job as my Metabo polisher but, it is a good price providing:

    not Dual Action

And in the wrong hands can do more damage than good. Be careful you don't leave halo's or worse, burn through the clear coat/paint with this bad boy.

Yep, did that once when I was young and stupid, Now I am just old and becoming stupid again……. But have had a couple of R/O polishers since then:)

That's exactly what I was looking at, no dual action = basically no go as a beginner.

what is something that people can recommend with dual action for a reasonable price?

      • I am interested in the DA polisher as well.

I have the gen 1 version of this and it's excellent value and performance.

        • I have looked at that one multiple times before, hard to justify as I won't use it much! I'm assuming there's probably nothing that good around the $150 range probably, I'll keep an eye out.

Also have the gen 1 and bought it when it was sub $150 mark. Highly recommend, has been running awesome for more than 5 years. With the right pads, its a beast.

          • @Lukey90: Correct quality pad choice and quality compound/polish makes a huge difference. Actually makes the process enjoyable and very rewarding.

      • Not D/A, but have been using the Ryobi 18V R/O polisher for a couple of years now, and have been getting good results. Almost impossible to damage your paint with it, unless you are a buff-oon. $219 bare tool.

Find a wreckers and get a crushed panel for cheap. Destroy that one until all the paint is burnt. Now you're better than a beginner and much less chance to destroy a good car …

  • start by learning how to polish by hand first. if you don't understand the process, a machine isn't going to suddenly make you skilled at it.

    • Wax on, wax off, wax on, wax off….

ok, got it Mr Miyagi :)
