  • How much is delivery I'm in Sydney

  • +11

    free Australia wide

  • @sanfans: Read a lot of issues with number porting to Boost. Has this issue been solved?

    • +5

I ported from Kogan yesterday, was trouble free.

      • +4

It's only some trouble when you are "porting" from Telstra to Boost, or a telco on the Telstra network

You would need to get Boost to send you a special SIM to "port" those ones, other carriers all port fine :)

        • That seems to be the case for same network porting.

Was with virgin and moved to Optus. Had issues

        • I ported from ALDI to Boost a month ago and it went through fine, super quick.

          • @Alzori: I ported from Aldi (Telstra reseller if anyone doesn't know) to Boost 6 months ago and went through within a few hours.

    • I ported from Aldi within 30 mins…no issue

    • Ported away from Vodafone no problems what so ever.

    • I just ported over from aldi about 2 hours ago, took 30minutes
They do ask on your old provider (aldi for me) if you want to port over, I'm guessing if you don't put your old Sim back in after activating there will be issues

    • Yes - appears to be fixed. Took my mate about a month to port from Exetel. Just ported (finally) this week and was offered extra data as compensation. Might be more an Exetel thing. He was happy to wait since performance on Exetel was so bad that streaming was impossible in the office. Other friends to port to Boost this week came from multiple other providers and took between 30 minutes to 36 hours. Mine was 5 minutes from Aldi earlier this year with the $2 sim direct from Boost

    • Ported Optus to Boost twice no issues.

  • Do you open on Saturday and Sunday?
Or need to wait until Monday to get one?

    • +3

We open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and Close in weekends and public holidays.

  • +8

No, Not Yet. It's not only Boost mobile. it's affecting every network as well as I know.

I heard it's because Australia government reinforced the porting procedure to avoid faulty porting. Thus the carriers introduced a sms valify system to help prevent faulty porting out from one network to another.

    • +20

      Love a good valification.

      • +2

I hope that's not racial valification!

        • +1

Textual valification if I understand correctly

    • Does that mean i need to put my old sim back in to finalise the porting??
Tried to port from Optus Friday afternoon around 2pm, still not activated, but haven't put old Optus sim back in yet?

      • Yes
They send a text to you on your old provider to port the number over

  • +2

What's the expiry of the sim?

    • +4

      Sep 2021

      • +1

Does that mean we can activate anytime prior to Sept 2021 and will have service until Sept 2022?

        Thanks!

        • I have the same question. My contract with optus won't end til December so I'm thinking about buying one now but activating later. Hope you can answer this OP. Thanks

      • +1

Did boost hand out these $150 sims in bulk or something…

        • Maybe it’s a way for them to achieve quick cash

          • @Heybargain: Also means they want cash back which sometimes means their business is in deep trouble.

            • +1

@bbtlovebbt: It’s Telstra, I think it unlikely they’re ‘in deep trouble’

              • @0jay: “Oh but the NBN is costing us so much oh no” - said company.

                • @ATangk: Not really clear what you’re getting at tbh…

                  • @0jay: Telstra charged exorbitant prices to NBN to sell them the dated and aged copper network.

                    • +1

@ATangk: Yeah that was no scam on Telstra’s part, that was govt incompetence.

But yeh, safe to say they probably comfortably flush.

                      • @0jay: One expects a business to work on behalf of the shareholders, interestingly the largest single shareholder being the federal government in it's future fund.

                        • @philart: Never attribute to malice what can be easily explained by incompetence.

I find it pretty easy to accept that nobody with a role in that process understood the underlying technologies under consideration or the implications of that ignorance.

That includes Turnbull who is often cited as a tech savant cos he made a canny buyin with OzEmail.

  • Great price.

  • Bought thx.

  • bought , thanks

  • +7

Are these posted via registered mail?

I don't understand the information you have under shipping and delivery:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat.

    • +5

Ignore, they forgot to edit the website template. Thats it.

    • also want to know how these are posted. What if get lost…

    • Its in Latin Gibberish.

  • Bought one thanks

  • +1

I ported a service recently from amaysim…took 8 days which was very frustrating.

    • +4

Amaysim have been going downhill in terms of customer experience and ease of porting. They certainly were a major player giving very strong competition to the big Telcos a few years ago.

  • Can this be used to recharge an exiting boost 150$ plan ending in a few months?

    • +2

No, for new number or porting from any non-telstra number.

    • +1

No, it can't. It's a starter pack, can be used for new or port-in only

  • +2

What is going on with this recent Boost offer? Seems becoming a hype.

    • +7

Boost had lunched it's long life plan since March, however, because of shortage of supply, there's nearly no stock for a few month.
Most dealers may have they sales target way behind because of no stock. Now the new stock arrives, so….

      • +7

        Nice lunch

        • Long one too. Life long.

  • Does it matter if you have been a Boost customer previously?

  • That website looks sketchy AF.

    • yep, made real fast that they forgot to edit out template defaults, i believe they will be selling the data they gathered, gonna pass for now.

      • +4

And the domain doesn't match the supposed company name. Links don't go where they're supposed to etc etc.

    • In what way?

So if a website was all nice and shiny, does it mean it's more trustworthy?

      • +4

It's a thrown together template with placeholder text still left all over it, important links in the footers don't go to the associated pages, even contact us. The domain name bears no resemblance to the company it purports to be for. Even the shop location has to be found by Googling for someone else! Not to mention brand new OzB account, typos all over this deal and the site. My spidersense is tingling, that's all.

        • -1

Dude they have a physical store, some people weren't born with the internet in their hands.

          • @TEER3X: No worries, if you're happy to use them, use them. I'd probably email them first to double-check why they're using the name of a company that's ABN has expired instead of their own name, site says their address is [email protected].

          • @TEER3X: The seller, Southern Telecom, is a store selling tech products. I would hope they'd have a good understanding of the Internet…

      • Generally speaking, yes, as it shows its not run from a teenagers bedroom

        • +6

Don't see an ABN either. Status of the business is cancelled according to ASIC.

          Business name: SOUTHERN TELECOM
          Status: Cancelled
          Registration date: 10/05/2018
          Renewal date: 10/05/2019
          Cancelled date: 19/09/2019

          Hmmm……

          • @flouise: This will be an interesting one … I am glad it was sold out and did not purchase it. Looks sketchy. They might have sold 300 cards which is $37,500. Hope everyone gets their Sim cards and it is not a scam. I guess it would be a first targeting Ozbargain for a scam which we have not picked up quick enough. But maybe they just had some left over stock…lets hope so.

  • Sold out already

  • Oos

  • can i recharge on top of current boost which will expire on Jan next year?

  • +3

Sold out on website but still available on their eBay store for $135 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/113912836384

  • If I'm already on this exact plan, can I somehow "recharge" the $150 for $125 if I buy this?

    • Port out to any non Telstra network, than port in to this.

    • I’m in the same boat and by the looks of things we would need to port out to another provider eg Kogan then use this starter pack to port our number back over at some point

      • +1

        Geez. That's painful

        • Yeah, especially with all the current porting slow downs.

Maybe wait for another deal like the Coles/Boost $135 as that Was a Re-Charge + blank sim.

  • Is there a prepaid esim deal around?

    • Do boost do esim? I’m a current boost customer so it would be great to swap out my sim for an esim (and use my sim slot for my work sim).

  • Created account, add to cart, apply coupon, fill in details etc… SOLD OUT :(

  • no stock.

  • Poor stock sold out already :/

  • +3

Anyone who missed out could try emailing the contact address on the site to see if they'll get any more stock… [email protected], lol.

  • can it be used on existing same plan to extend it?

  • +1

Back in stock I guess - just ordered one.

  • +1

    Errrrrrr…
    Back in stock.
    Just purchased one.

    • Still out of stock for me

  • UNLIMTED STND CALLS & TEXT

So only to landline numbers ?

    • +1

stnd as in not 1800 numbers i guess

      • +2

Doesn't say in the critical info summary, but nowadays, stnd means mobile as well. I think a non-standard call is like one where you have to pay a fee (1900). I imagine a 13 number is standard too, since they are important when calling business and such.

  • No stock… sold out…

  • +13

So far, We'll sold 300 piece of traffic from here (not including overflowed to eBay).

We likely have more stock to sell, but our manager suggest to stop in case not enough stock to fulfil.

Will be back to sale on late Monday if we checked the stock is OK.

    Thanks for all of you.

    Best regards

  • All Sold Out @ CellMate noe too :-(

  • +4

    Are these the new Eneloops?

  • They have the same deal on EBay right now for $135

  • How are these all getting sold out when there was an unlimited offer with the coles recharge?

    • These are physical starter packs with SIM card enclosed.

  • And in case anyone needs it, I was at Woolworths and saw the $30 boost starter pack for $15.

  • Can we claim trs if we buy 3?

  • +1

Any idea if there's more stock OP?
