Sistema Fresh Works Produce Saver Containers $5.60 - $9.80 (30% off) @ Woolworths Online / Instore

50

Various size containers. Purchased the 1.5lt version a few weeks ago for strawberries and tried a test against the packet in the fridge not in this container. The one not in the container I've had to throw out. So called fresh fruit and veg just don't last if your keeping them in the fridge for longer than normal. So have now just bought the other sizes as they do seem to work and keep the fruit and veg from going mouldy. We are talking a week. Most of the time the fruit get mouldy by day 3.

Sizes small 591ml -for say blueberries $5.60
Large 2.6Lt $9.80 for tomatoes, broccoli etc
Long rectangle 1.9lt $9.80 for asparagus
Square 1.5lt $7.00

  • Discount / Price / Location in the title OP.

    • Amended. National, but low stocks or out of stock in some stores. There are still a lot in the Highett Road Woolworths Vic. Non in the Moorabbin store and a few in the Southland store.

Meanwhile the Decor range is better than half price at Woolworths..

For a similar vented container? Anyway I have tried it and thought I would share.

Most of the time the fruit get mouldy by day 3.

That is really unacceptable. I would generally say your local fruit shop has far fresher produce. Not to mention you're helping a small business, not a corporate.

If you don't want to go to 3 stores for your grocery shopping then yeah go to the local fruit shop.

Just like to chime in here, say I brought strawberries from the local fruit shop (right next to Coles) put them in the crisper and forgot about them for over a week.
Took them out and ate them, still very nice.

They aren't refrigerated when you buy them. They should last longer than three days, but presumably they probably have been sitting there for a while.

I always buy fresh produce at the local fruit shop. Only time I don't is when Coles has got it for like 80% off - because then at least I know it isn't going to last long.

Without even going in the crisper, or even the fridge, they shouldn't have mould on the third day.

    • Depends on the fruit and how you handle it. If you say wash strawberries & put them in the fridge wet, they tend to get mould within a few days. I if you just put them in as is, then wash before eating, you’ll get 5+ days. If you wash with water + tspn vinegar then dry & put ion you should get 7+days…..But it also depends on how old & well stored they are in the first place.

  • I like the decor range for home use and the sistema stuff for travel.

Haha. Does anyone buy these for less than 50% off?

    • These are run out, so once gone I take they wont be back. Best price for these fresh works ones I believe.

      • I spoke to Sistema the other day they are not a discontinued product.

        • Corrected on description. Maybe run out in Woolworths then. Definitely a clear out of current stock.

I usually add a couple of paper towels to help soak up any moisture and keep the strawberries a bit drier. I do that in a Sistema sealed container though. Works very well.

I also find that often, strawberries bought at a farmer's market don't last as long as store-bought. Probably something to do with chemicals added to the store-bought ones.

    • Store bought ones are probably picked a lot earlier (usually why they’re not as flavoursome).

Saw some Sistema containers at 50% off at Coles. Probably nationwide

  • Why are you buying strawberries and not eating them for a week?

    • We are eating them, but not always going through them all. Sometime they don't even make it into the fridge.

    • Maybe like me they get 3-5 punnets for $5?

      • I got 5 punnets for $2 the other week…

Got them home, washed them and separated them into freezer bags and straight into the freezer…

  • Bought these Freshworks containers before @50% off from Coles, so for the tighties, just wait for the next sale unless its urgent.

I actually prefer our OXO ones - these have a basket within the container so u just lift the produce out, more distance between bottom of basket and the water thats dripped down but the price will be hard to stomach for some

    • Gee those OXO are xpency.

I'm sure these containers are berry nice.

  • 30-50% off is the new RRP for Sistema. When are they NOT on sale?
