Workzone 4V Li-Ion Screwdriver Kit $19.99 @ ALDI

60

Same deal group as the table saw but I only saw this while browsing their store yesterday.

I already have the Worx slider one so this one with barrel appealed to me. I used to have a Bosch IXO which was popular here but found the Worx mechanism way more convenient when the IKEA furniture had multiple screw types.
Now I don't know how this stacks up against the Worx (certainly feels cheaper in the hand) but on paper it has enough torque and Bunnings don't have a similar slider one to even match. So for $20 it seems like a better deal than the XU1.

(Note: in the quick play I had in store I couldn't figure out how to easily rotate the barrel)

  • my local aldi has heaps of them and they aren't moving. I'll wait in two weeks when it drops to $14.99.

    • Even the pink ones?
Only one already-opened pink one at my local. Heaps is blue though.

      • a dozen pink ones at a quick glance.

  • Are the long metal cylinders to extend the screw driver to get to hard to reach places or just some nut and bolt thing? Pretty keen if it's the former.

    • They are extensions for hard-to-reach places. They are still pretty thick though, they won't work in a narrow hole.

If you only want extensions, here are some cheap ones, you might be able to find them even cheaper elsewhere:

I suspect these ones work best with screwdriver bits with a circular groove at the end, like the circular groove at the end of these extensions.

You can also get non-magnetic extensions, which have a metal spring to retain the bits by friction. These are better if your workplace produces iron filings or "spatter" from arc welding, the filings or spatter can get inside the magnetic extensions and are difficult to remove.

Or you can just buy some long screwdriver bits, these will work down narrow holes too:
