AMD Ryzen 9 3900X $740 + Delivery (Free with eBay Plus) @ Futu Online eBay

100
POLLEN20

This just happened to come up in my Facebook feed. Seems like a good deal for the 3900X. Some of the prices on the other processors are quite high though, even after the 20% discount.

There's a shortage at the moment and everyone is pretty much jacking up the prices. They're selling at the prices near the new Ryzen 9 3950x. Wait till it settles down then keep an eye out for the 20% discounts.

    • +1

Shortages yeah, price hikes in some places… but the launch price was $499 USD which is $740 AUD so bang on with no Aussie Tax. This is hardly near the price of the 3950x which will probably be around $1250-1300 AUD ($749 USD). So overall this price isn't too bad.

      • +1

$740 is AFTER a 20% discount. Not before.

        • +2

It's the typical eBay discount thing. They jack up the prices so you either have rrp of something more akin to a 5% discount.

      • +6

That's the conversion rate only. US prices don't include tax, so add another 10% GST, plus the Australia tax.

This is a great price and stock is finally available at most places now.

Really? You're still spreading this fear? From the lips of AMD, 1.5v at idle is expected. And, if you understand the principles of current and voltage, small current (as in when the cpu isn't doing much) results in higher voltage for a given clockspeed.

Turn on chill mode and forget if you're really worried, which drops frequency, ergo voltage.

Either way, you won't see a difference in temps, or any "excessively high temps" at idle unless you're manually clocking.

Thanks for providing zero sources for your comment. Seems like I've struck a nerve with the AMD fanboy/girl community here.
Upon further research I found the "Official AMD" word on voltages and temps regarding AMD's Zen 2 CPUs which is nothing more than an AMD PR guy on reddit.

        For those interested:

I have read through the entire post and even after people have followed AMD_Robert's recommendations, many are still getting excessively high temps and voltages. Not very reassuring.

I will most likely be sending my 3900x back and heading back to Intel (with much regret) given I don't find much solace in AMD's reassurances regarding Zen 2 temps.

        • heading back to Intel

          Probably for the best.

@[Deactivated]: Do you actually own a 3900x or are you just a rabid AMD fanboy who can't engage in a rational discussion over computer hardware?
Others may find a civil discussion useful in making an informed decision and perhaps learn something new.

But sure go ahead with the snark if it makes you feel better about yourself.

            • @Cobalt_: Yes,I do. And it functions wonderfully. Thanks for asking. I tend not to get involved in topics I'm uninformed about.

              • -2

@[Deactivated]: So rabid AMD fanboy confirmed. You're more than welcome to stay out of the conversation if you have nothing to contribute.

                  So rabid AMD fanboy confirmed.

                  Definitely!

The fact is, this whole PSA is founded on nonsense by people that don't understand what they're even talking about. I count JayZTwoCents among them. Time and time again this story has been debunked. This time, you've even stated some a blatent exaduration "excessively high temps especially at idle.".

You've demonstrated a lack of insight, and further miscomprehension with this statement:

I have read through the entire post and even after people have followed AMD_Robert's recommendations, many are still getting excessively high temps and voltages. Not very reassuring.

                  Pay attention, from AMD's statement:

Therefore, MOST tools can only show you the last clock and voltage of the core before the core went to cc6 [sleep]. So if you were at full 4.5GHz+ boost @ 1.48V, then the core went to sleep, many tools might show the core(s) stuck at that value. The tool just doesn't know any better.

However, the latest version of AMD Ryzen Master can uniquely show you clocks and voltages in a cc6 state. No other tool can do it. Neat piece of info for the people looking to understand how their core behaves!

This is why whatever monitoring tool you're using is giving you false sense of truth. This is why there are no screenshots of Ryzen Master showing ~1.48V at idle.

I'm not your mother, and I've no patience to educate people that go spreading falsehoods online. All I did was correct the fud you were attempting to spread. Whether you learn from it is up to you. You're not my problem.

@[Deactivated]: And rather than posting anything helpful, you come out guns blazing.

The fact that AMD expects you not to run common tools like CPU-Z, HWMonitor and Corsair iCUE because it triggers all cores into an active state is simply laughable. But either way you could have simply said AMD has made a statement, here are the facts and please install Ryzen Master utility to monitor your core temps and voltage states.

Nope, not possible because you're a troll fanboy. FYI the youtube video was linked through another support forum that I was tracking regarding high temps and volts, had never heard of JayZTwoCents prior to being linked to his video.

My own concerns were raised because HWMonitor and CPU-Z were showing high voltages and high temps which is why I started looking into the issue myself. My own idle temps were 50c+ on liquid cooling which seemed excessive.

        • Don't 9900K's run very hot too?

Now we're talking. Funny how you down vote me, when Black Friday is the truth and it isn't too far away, $740 is nothing new also there's been better price in the past.

  • Has anyone ordered from here and received their AMD games redemption code? I emailed them and I'm getting ghosted with no response.
