  To anyone who is intending on buying theses cheap Chinese security cameras. Please ensure that you properly set up the device and ensure that the device does not have a master password. Otherwise, your camera stream will be picked up by web crawlers.

    This applies to any wifi security camera manufactured anywhere. Your bigoted comments are not necessary btw Mr “no username”. I have one of these and they are actually quite good for the price.

      Does not apply anywhere. Cheap branded cameras are easy to hack and most have a backdoor account for a password reset. These hidden accounts can be found by via exploring the firmware file. There are also a lot of cameras with valuable ports open which allows you to access many functions of the camera without the user noticing. A quick google search will also reveal many scripts for such attacks. If you go to any port crawling website you'll see what I mean but only use it on yourself for legal reasons. I also use to install CCTV cameras so I know what it's like. Many customers tend to buy their own camera and I've played around many types and the security is terrible. It's always better to spend more on products like Ring, Nest, etc as if vulnerabilities are found they are patched right away. Whereas Chinese brands normally won't receive such updates. I'm not saying the quality is bad for the price, they are ok to use in an offline state. In reality, it depends on how private you want to be. If you don't care about privacy then using these are perfect for you.

        Yes it does apply anywhere.

        Ring and Nest is not better, they uploaded video feed unencrypted over the internet and didn't get patched until large amount of people complained. Any WIFI camera can be hack easily especially when they using insecure WPA2 wifi.

        This why I always recommended people have internet access blocked(VLANS) especially for IP cameras regarding any manufacturer.

        I am not paying more money on a always connected IP camera. If you really care about privacy you won't be using nest/ring types of cameras.
