  • Quick question: Why do most key retailers charge a higher 'Payment fees' for PayPal compared to MasterCard/Visa or others. Does PayPal charge a higher 'merchant fee' compared to the others?

    • +1

PayPal uses its own rates which are usually about 3-4c off the actual value that they take as an 'exchange fee'. Most CD key places are overseas so PayPal ends up needing to exchange.

      • +2

You can turn off PayPal exchange option, so that your bank/card issuer does the currency exchange instead of PayPal.

PayPal exchange rates are really expensive, so they make the option to turn it off very hard to find.

But a quick search on Google, and five minutes later, you will never have to worry about PayPal's exchange rates.

        • +2

A lot of banks charge a ridiculous currency conversion fee though which makes it almost useless. Westpac for example does this and it pisses me off.

          • -1

@Tacooo: Oh. I am with Commbank and have very low exchange rates (it depends on the account you choose though).

I'm pretty certain Oblivion did not come out in 2013.

    • +2

      Hi Orion,

Just to clarify - the GOTY was released in 2013 and the Oblivion base-game was released some time ago before that.

      Regards,
      Eneba Team

Fantastic game with an epic storyline.

But, it's an old game, and it looks it.

  • +5

will need oblivion when Skyblivion comes out

    https://skyblivion.com/

    • Holy cow, a new Elder Scrolls game?!

      Take my money!

But why would I need Oblivion, to play Skyblivion (btw what a lazy, unimaginative, crappy name).

      • +4

It's a team of modders overhauling skyrim into Oblivion, not an official Bethesda remaster.
It requires both Skyrim and Oblivion to play, on the plus side the team is releasing everything for free.
There's also a separate team working on bringing Morrowind into Skyrim (Skywind).

        • Lol. You got me.

I had my hopes up, but I guess they're not done milking a dead cow yet (Elder Scrolls Online).

  • +2

Have you heard of the High Elves?

    • Why?

    • THEN PAY WITH YOUR BLOOD!

    • i don't know you and i don't care to know you

  • +2

Damn, I wasted so much time on this game. I wouldn't take it back though.

    • It was an experience, that's for sure.

But I could never finish it, because whatever was meant to spawn at the end, never spawned (on top of the mountain).

Ps. I put in so much time into this game, that I could literally fly (levitate spell) indefinitely over the map.

        https://www.eneba.com/steam-the-elder-scrolls-iii-morrowind-…

Is better imo. Oblivion missed the charm Morrowind had.

Op where do you source these keys?

        • +1

Oh man, that's what I meant - I was thinking of Morrowind, not Oblivion, which was pretty average for an ES game (but still better than Skyrim imho. I found Skyrim too repetitive).

          • +3

@BooYa: Lol es games tend to be the first one you played will be your fav.

On a side note i use levitation potions, lol .1 weight each

            • @Seedy seed: I did it "the hard way" lol.

I would level it up by using it, whenever I wasn't playing Morrowind, by just pressing whatever trigger or button would level it up, over and over and over …

              But, 0 weight each ;)

  • Btw. Morrowind is "Xbox One X Enhanced" with apparently greatly improved video quality and 16× the resolution of the Xbox 360 version
    https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.eurogamer.net/amp/digita…

Audio has been improved too, with Dolby Digital compatibility https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-AU/product/The-Elder-Scrolls…

It's almost $20 at the Xbox store, but you can get it much cheaper.

  • +1

I really want an Oblivion remaster but instead, we get 10,000 different Skyrim remasters

  • Anything less than $5 USD is a great price for a Bethesda GOTY title. GoG version is slightly preferrable, but about the only chanage you need to make with Steam is to apply a 4GB patch so the game can use more memory (eg if you are using high resolution texture replacers).

  • Unpopular opinion: Skyrim was better.

    • Skyrim was my least favourite, but each to their own.

    • I’ve only ever played Skyrim out of all ES games. Keen to try Oblivion and Morrowind when Skyblivion and Skywind are released

      • Yeah…I couldn't get into Oblivion after playing Skyrim - Skyrim is clearly the better game. I( feel that Morrowind has needlessly over-complicated UIs and mechanics which detract from the gameplay.

It probably appeals more to the DOTA-style player than the Skyrim-esque action game that I was expecting.

        • I loved Morrowind, it's my all time fave, but DOTA is completely different.

Morrowind is first and foremost an RPG, and unless people have the time to get into the story and lore, it's hard to appreciate (or compare with Skyrim for example, which was more action based and less story-driven).

          • @BooYa: With Skyrim, you make your own story, though - I feel the number one quintessential trait of an RPG, rather than following someone else's story.

With regards to DOTA-style, I mean it seems to more be about stats and figures than "feel" I suppose. Hard to put my finger on it, but yeah.

I have yet to meet anyone who played Skyrim first and preferred Morrowind which kind of makes the point to me - nostalgia seems to count for more than substance.

EDIT: getting confused between Morrowind and Oblivion - I haven't played Morrowind, only Oblivion. Or…IDK, the one where Patrick Stewart is in the intro for like 30 seconds and then is no part of the game thereafter.

  • If anyone's looking at this and considering playing Oblivion for the first time after all the hype of Skyrim… Please do, the game is phenomenal ;)
Best music and is the most visually pleasing out of all the Elder Scrolls games. Levelling system is kinda poor but it's something you get used to fairly quickly.
