I didn't ask for a discount, I just said I was considering upgrading my old gopro and asked if the 8 would support my old accessories, they then offered me the 25% discount which was sent by email..

Maybe try again, select sales… I asked if Hero5 black batteries and underwater case would work with the Hero8 black (I dont have a 5, I'm still using a 2 for various reasons)… They offered the discount code without me asking… Hero5 batteries are compatible, the underwater case isn't, so maybe ummm and arrrr in the chat and say you cant justify upgrading since you'll have to spend money on a new case and such…
I'd avoid outright asking for a code until the end, and only ask if they don't offer, "are there any discounts since I have to spend money on a new case for the 8", or the likes..
Edit: maybe also ask about the battery life, which is really poor compared to the 5, and then play the game, "oh, so I'll have to buy a heap of batteries also"… lol
don't ask directly about the codes mate, ask common things about GoPro, etc and they will send you the codes afterward

Then (37.5 + 450 ) = 487.5
Then 487.5 cash rewards will accrue $16 after accounting for the gst
Giving 471.5 , my calculation brings it $5 less lol, but don’t buy the SD from GoPro it’s not worth it for a 32gb card

Yeah so the code wasn't given to me in the chat, after the chat was over, I just got sent the email probably about 5 mins after. I can't recall if it was AU or US chat, I think I just did the global one, cos I wasn't concerned about price, was just asking about a feature. Oh and now that I think about it, the 32GB card WAS removed from cart after adding the coupon code :( Oh well.

This is what they said.

So don't waste your half an hour trying to get through for nothing. There is no deal here, anymore

FYI I asked a question on GoPro's live chat about the GoPro 8 and after I was automatically sent a 25% coupon code for the GoPro 8 on their site to my email address. Yes, worked on the international site. Got it for AU$449.96 with the 32GB memory card.
