Is It Too Early to Book for Japan May 2020?

I know this might be an impossible question to answer, but just curious if anyone has any insights into when might be the best time to book for Japan around May 2020 (dates not specific).

Right now Qantas seems like the best bet with ~$900 return for most dates. This still seems a bit expensive.

The main reason I ask, is Jetstar dont even have flights listed for this period (from ADL if that matters). Do they list flights closer to the date? or are they all booked out due to previous sales???

Just looking for some opinions I guess…Thanks

    • My timing unfortunately :(

      • My guess is Jetstar don't list ADL as there is no direct service. (Then again Melbourne flights are usually via Cairns or GC)

  • +1

I think maybe too late now for cheapest fare. There were a few sales around $650 2 months ago

  • Current sale:

Maybe see if you can switch one side to Tokyo. JAL is worth it.

    • Hmmm. Let me think about that for a minute, JAL or Jetstar……..

  • Early May is one of the most expensive times to travel to Japan:

Accomodation prices will be elevated both during the April 29th to May 5th period and either side of it.

Make sure you avoid this period! Jetstar flights (which offer domestic Japanese routes) may already be sold out for it.

From past experience, flight prices can actually be reasonable but they're not the problem.
