  • Perfect timing I just picked up my first usb-c device and this gets posted 3 mins before I come to look into buying spare cables

    • Nice.
I didn't know there was such a thing as smart USB cables that cut power 5 mins after the device is fully charged.
Does anyone know if there is a micro-USB version? SS dont appear to have any.

  • +2

Okay, that charging indicator in the cable is pretty neat

  • The Baseus QC3.0 USB Type-C Smart Cable works well , bought 2 from the last time they where discounted.

  • +5

enclosures work well, got a couple last time and two more today. Great for making backup drives when swapping out ssd into old laptops. Flashing light is a bit much when plugged in but great for $6

    • +1

These are the least issue ridden of all the cheap crap enclosures I tried. Must be the cheapest as well I think at this price.

      • +1

Two of two failed for me within months and they barely had any use. Utter crap. Would not recommend. Cbf with warranty for this price.

      • Same, I have a pile of 2.5" USB enclosures that have died after various periods of time. I've had this one for 2-3yrs at least and use it multiple times a day (with a SSD in it) and it's glorious!

Have to agree the lights a bit gimmicky though.

        • I got these in a previous deal and USB 3.0 doesn't even work… Plugging it into a USB 2.0 port worked fine though

  • +5

Be warned, the lights on those cables are really bright. I could see it through my eyelids in a dark room.

  • +2

Make sure you add 2 in cart. I was silly last time and added 1 thinking I would get 2.

    • +1

      Same dude.

    • +1

      I added 1 only, but received 2. Lucky I guess ?
      Play it safe though

  • Confirming maximum capacity supported by the enclosure is only 2TB?

    • 2 x 2TB

    • Yes but it's likely just because they didn't have higher capacity SSD drives to test it with rather than some sort of hardware or software limitation.

    • More then likely the enclosure only fits 9mm drives - and 2TB is the largest 9mm you can buy

  • Can someone confirm how many of the SSD Enclosure I have to add to get 1 free (1 or 2)? I added 2 and it's showing $30. If I add 1 will they send 2?

    • +1

Totally agree, needs to be alot clearer

      • +3

Above the picture of the item it says, "BUY 1, GET 1 FREE (add 2 to cart)"

        • +1

That's what I did. Apparently it only works if you check out each item separately (can't add 2 x enclosure and 2 x cables to the same cart).

        • Not on the mobile app. Just says "Buy 1, get 1 free" and when you click through further says "Buy 1, get 1 FREE, FREE Shipping with eBay Plus" Then you click on the little circled "i" and says "Offer details: * Value of least expensive item will be discounted from the subtotal amount. Discount amount will be applied once per transaction. offer valid through October 21, 2019"

I stupidly placed an order for 1x item before reading these comments. Placed second order for 2x and attempting to cancel the first. Thanks for the heads up.

Do you have eBay Plus to get rid of the $15 delivery fee?

      • +2

Yes, I do have eBay Plus. I figured out what the problem is. You have to checkout separately. You can't add 2 x enclosure and 2 x cables to the same cart.

  • Why is delivery $15?!

    • +1

      Because you are flamin' hot.

  • anything for 3.5" ??

    • -1

remove the case and use the cable only?

      • -1

        Username checks out

      • +2

That wouldn’t work. 3.5 hard drives require an external power source or they need to be used internally. The USB ports on a computer don’t provide enough power.

  • +1

    Thanks op.

  • +1

    Thanks OP grabbed the enclosures

  • If anyone is interested in the inverters but does not want to hear Fan Noise from that device beware. I got the 75W which is silent with no fan but also a 175W and although listing said No Fan Noise, it does have fan and is noisy even with No load. Not sure about the other models they have.

  • where can i get the hard drives to use in the enclosures?

    • +1

Its probably not the item you need if you are asking that question, most people use them for hard drives from old laptops or when they swap out hard drives in laptops for SSD's.

      • yeah, I have spare 120 GB lying around from old laptop or computer.

  • +3

You can also mix and match, like 1 cable and 1 case for $12.

  • +1

    Thanks OP
    Grabbed 2 Enclosures. :-)

  • +1

These enclosures are great. I've got 4 and have thrown out all my old shitty usb2 ones from 10 years ago.

  • .
    for 2 Case & 2 Cable it showed after coupon $36 ……should be $24…..so I cancelled

    • As per an earlier comment above. Order them separately i.e. Order#1=Cases Order#2=Cables.

  • Don’t forget Cashback through ShopBack 1%

    • And stack QFF Virgin FF 😉

  • +1

Great, been waiting for this. Thanks.

  • Seems like quite the hype but when I saw that $15 shipping fee… totalling ~$27
So I searched up SSD case on ebay and found the same/ similar one for cheaper $9.95 with free shipping.

  • Pity it's with the USB3 Micro B connector.
I also have a USB C version which is far superior and highly recommend in terms of it not falling out as frequently.
    Enclosure itself is great.

    • I manage to end up with the USB-C version from this deal. Not sure what happened but not complaining.

  • Forgot to cancel my eBay plus subscription so I keep buying SD cards, car chargers, enclosures from shopping square to get some value out of ebayplus. :-( what else do you all do with your ebayplus?

    • +5

My ebayplus enjoys long walks and the occasional night out at the movies

    • PSA: even if you cancel it now; you still get all the benefits until it ends ; it just doesn't renew automatically

  • Forgot to apply code. Any advise?

  • Do the charging cables work for like android auto? Are they data cables

  • Is no longer 2 for $12, is 2 for $15 for the Orico enclosure.

    • +2

using code its 2 for $12

      • I was using code and it still kept it at 2 for 15…I'll try again though. Scratch that…just noticed out of stock

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got usb c cables and enclosures.

  • +4

    I dont own any USB-C devices…
But I now own 2 USB-C charging cables.

    I need help.

    • My USB-C cables arrived…

Now I need to find a USB-C device.
      Any suggestions?

Can these cables be used with a RPi4?

  • +1

    thanks!

  • Orico SSD enclosure seems sold out now.

  • Orico SSD enclosure back order available

  • Orico enclosures are back in stock 2019-10-29

  • The cable came in a ziplock bag. Not very professional looking.

    • But it also came with a leather strap to tie it up..

$30 network cables come in plastic zip lock bags - what were you expecting for $6 ?

      • I was expecting official packaging just like with their $2 cables, which also have a scratchy for testing if they're genuine.

When I see a ziplock bag, my natural thought is.. are these genuine or knock offs?

The ziplock bag itself is not the problem. It's a cheap clear bag that is bought in bulk. Official ones are thicker and have print on them.

The leather strap is only useful when the cable is not in use. The loop is not adjustable. So if you wanted to tie up half the cable but not all of it, the loop would not hold it in place.
