[PC] Free - Counter Strike: Global Offensive (Non-Prime Status) @ Steam

342

While this has been posted before, and has gone from paid game to free in December last year, I thought this deal is worth reminding those users who missed the initial post and/or who are new to the site.
This is the full game - the difference to the Prime Status upgrade is matchmaking and additional souvenir items, item drops, and weapon cases.

From the website:

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) expands upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 19 years ago.

CS: GO features new maps, characters, weapons, and game modes, and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust2, etc.).

"Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999," said Doug Lombardi at Valve. "For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac."

Enjoy!

  • Great game, great times.

  • wasnt this posted yesterday? its free for offline use.

    • See below. This is for online version.

  • +2

You literally posted this exact same deal yesterday.

    • No, that was an old unobtainable deal for offline use only. This is for mormal version so you can play online.
      Just not prime status.
So, this is a different version and hence a different deal.

  • Why again?

  • +5

Free forever, not a deal. Also prime is free - just need to reach level 21 in game.

    • -6

It is about whether it cost money before - look at rules and previous deals posted by other people - your neg is not justified.
Also, in game grinding does not count. Prime status is not free - you have to pay real money for it when you purchase it.

“ It is about whether it cost money before”

Didn’t that happen last year but? May as well post Team Fortress 2 being free.

        • -6

If TF2 ever cost money and then went free it could have been posted - correct.

          • +1

@Lysander: TF2 did used to cost money though.

They gave me an army helmet cosmetic for purchasing the game way back when.

Users with a free-to-play license can either buy their Prime status on Steam for $14.99 or play until they reach level 21 (Lieutenant) in online casual matches. Players must have a valid phone number linked to their Steam accounts as well.

    • wow cringe much

    • And? There's plenty of other long-running and free deals which have been posted and remain very popular, why is this any different?

  • +5

Why are you guys mad that he is doing a favour to those that may not know about this.

You guys aren't the only people on this website you know newcomers are joining every day or do you not know how this website and the internet.

Lysander does a lot for the community and is one of the top posters for the gaming category you should thank him or the gaming category would be a lot more emptier.

I say this because I have been busy not being able to check ozbargain as much as I used to thanks to work so this is news to me.

    • -4

Yeah it's news, not a bargain.

      • +1

Freebies are posted regularly on OzBargain but you have an issue with this? Hypocrisy at its finest.

        • Sometimes people make me wonder but if we were living in a perfect world there would be nothing wrong but unfortunately we don't.

    • +1

To be honest, I did not know about this full multiplayer online version having gone free until yesterday either - I missed the original post completely or at least totally forgot about it. I am sure there are plenty of people who are in a similar position.

Thank you for the encouraging words - very nice to see some positive feedback and appreciation.

It is always good to know information what I don't get is if people already know it just move on like why are people complaining over free information.

I get that spam can be a problem all over the internet but I mean can't people realise that somebody typed this up and posted it not an automated soulless bot.

        • Unfortunately they do not and many people are self-centred. Deep down they believe that each and every post is really made just for them and if they feel they already know the info or the post is not worthy, then the complaining starts.
I have taken some notes over the last 12 months regarding this, as a sociological experiment, and the rather puzzling thing is that most of the people who complain and criticise and/or do so the most, are those that contribute very little or nothing to Ozbargain. The have made a relatively low number of deal posts as compared to the massive amount of comments - many of which are complaints, jokes etc. and not so useful which means they cannot be counted as a contribution either.
I guess now I need to hand over these results to someone who studies psychology or social science - maybe they can find similarities in the type of people who behave this way.

Anyway, thank you for very much for your nice and friendly words.

I hope you have a lovely day.

Keep it on the forums, no deal here. Free game.

    • It was posted as deal before - why should it change now?
Not even everything that has always been free and is still free goes to forums:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/480338

Plus, do you want me to post every game that is a giveaway (hence free game) on forums? ;-)

  • Thanks Lysander

    • You are welcome.

      Have a lovely day.

  • Thanks Lysander

Haha pipped above due to not refreshing the page before posting :p

    • You are welcome.
      Have a lovely day.

What's with the invalid negative votes. I knew about this and it isn't relevant to me so I won't put in a positive vote either, but that doesn't make it a valid neg vote according to voting guidelines. Just move on guys.

If you have problems for posts like this, go complain to the admins, not to the OP. I've reported the negative votes accordingly.

    See voting guidelines here.

  • I don't have steam, if I download steam and then this game will I be able to play it online multiplayer?

The reason I ask is because I am interested in getting AOE2 for online gaming.

    • +1

Yes, I don't see a reason why not.

      • So steam is not like PSN where you need to pay a yearly fee for online play?

  • Thanks Lysander, my Dad will love this. Cheers mate.

  • Thanks. Downloading it now. Thanks OP!

  • Counter-Strike 2 free on Steam atm.
