Unless you are purely using it for a browser i would not waste my money on a 32gb, the OS will take up half that and it becomes useless in terms of apps and storage. really annoys me how apple does this, memory is so cheap really too.

Other then that it is a good price.

    • +3

Pretty sure the OS is about 5-6GB

    • The way I am using, installed Google photos and upload all photos, video taken to the Google photos.
Remaining documents etc to the apple iCloud.

Main hardisk for apps only. Seems sufficient for my use.
But it's not for everyone.. great for Netflix, youtube, browsing on the go

      • why would you take photos from the ipad anyway?

        • Sometimes when it's handy or to capture some moments when phone is not with you.
Sometime when you download photos from Facebook or messenger or internet.

    • I have a 32GB and with about 30 social/ other apps as well as 8 large music producing apps I still have 18GB of space remaining. It really depends on how you use it and what you're storing.

    • Considering my current iPad is 32GB, 64 is pretty good.

  • +2

The iPad Air is $686 too, not bad for a bricks and mortar.

    • And has 64 GB storage.

  • is the $500 6th gen 9.7" ipad 128gb from OW pricebeat HN, a better deal ?

same cpu, just 0.5" bigger screen

    • The 7th Gen has 3gb of ram vs 2gb on the 6th.

      • +1

Ram doesn't really matter on ios device though. I would imagine people will appreciate more for 128gb storage, unless you really want that smart keyboard connector.

  • HN seems to have dropped their price, now $476 there too so cannot price beat.

  • What was the previous price of this iPad? $589??

    • 7th Gen wifi 32gb b/W $525-529

  • looks like alot of clearance sales… there must be a new ipad next month. They did this with the watch before september event.

    • This is the newest cheaper-line ipad tho. They are announcing a new iPad Pro soon which is really not in the same category and price range.

  • Cant use for primary school kids, as they require 64GB min

    • It must differ from school to school, ours has no minimum.

      • Depends on how your school uses it, my kids do alot of video reading, creating, etc that is then uploaded for the teacher to review individual, so they dont want the teachers wasting their time getting kids to clean up old ones, and focused more on teaching

  • anyone know when this deal over? i want to get it tommorrow.. also anyone successfully got the price beat @ the good guys?

Also any idea if they still engrave name on the ipad for free

    • Called GG and they offered it for $475, a $1 saving as apparently that's less than what they buy then for (which they've said to me before on other price beat enquiries).

      Figured I'd fleece HN instead.
