    Indeed a good bargain….Thanks - Bought it :)

  • Is it worth buying RU8000? what are the differences! This is a great price though!

      This about sums it up

RU8000 is better in every way.
R7100 is worth getting if you have a lower budget or you want a 75" TV (RU8000 has 82" but not 75", at least not in australia)

good budget tv for the size, dont expect FTA to look great though..

    • Just use a telstra tv or something

    • What makes you say that ? All free to air is the same on every digital TV

        poor up-scaling maybe?

  • This or Hisense R7?

All, you can claim 5 years warranty with the below for Samsung 65RU7100

    https://www.betta.com.au/october-5-year-warranty

    • Weird, I tried to claim my warranty and there isn't an option in the dropdown for 'purchased at appliance central ebay'. Were you able to register for the warranty?

        Its Betta Villawood

        • Well that is just fantastically helpful. Thank you so much

I've had a very bad experience with the 7100 series 55 inch TV. It had dark lines 5 cm thick running all the way horizontally and vertically near the edges of the screen. Samsung was also terrible to deal with. As this was an issue that the TV had out of the box, I was expecting a replacement however they only offered to have it serviced. They were sure it was the panel so I accepted as i couldn't take it back to the store because my car was being repaired. The service man replaced the screen, the issue was still there, so Samsung asked me to have the computer inside the TV replaced. Seriously, on a new TV? I called a friend, took the TV back to the Good Guys who were quite helpful and refunded me. Since then, I have never dealt with Samsung again.

I guess it's just tough luck mate. I had a friend who experience the same pain with Hisense. Seller wants confirmation from Hisense for replacement/refund. Hisense wanted to fix the brand new TV, made 3 attempts and then they issued a refund.

As much as I love a good Samsung panel, I wouldn't buy a TV with Tizen again. Such a dated OS. It's a real blemish on otherwise great TV's.
    Just my 2c.

    • +1

Honestly, most TV OS are garbage. You're always better off using a Apple TV or Nvidia Shield instead.

      • +2

Say that to top LG TV's with WebOS.

Sick interface + the magic remote.

I feel the opposite, I actually don't mind Tizen. It's clean, has the essential applications but most importantly, is fast and snappy. In comparison, I've noticed that many Android TVs are underpowered - slow to boot, and suffer from interface lag.

      • +1

To be fair, the only android TV I own is a 2019 Sony A8G, which as you'd expect is very snappy. Probably not fair of me to compare that to a 3 year old Samsung. Still, I prefer the massive range of opportunity the PlayStore offers, over the relatively poultry (mostly international/non-english) offerings of Tizen. Horses for courses though, i say.

        • +1

Fair, I've only had experience with a TCL X4US and Sony X9000, both which didn't blow me away in terms of interface performance. No experience with the 2019 models, but I've heard the experience is much improved - at least for the X9500. I do enjoy the experience of Android TV, I have a Q75R with paired with a Shield myself.

  • Just bought one of these TVs from JB Hifi yesterday afternoon!

…luckily it was for work, so it doesn't matter, but it still bothers me haha!

    • AAARGGG - I paid more than this last week for a 55" from JB.

  • I'm ok with Tizen if you need more connect a shield..

Anybody know if stores with supply will price match (with postage) like HN?

    • They won't price match Ebay.

    • H Norman price matched for me to good guys ebay about a year ago on a samsung qled so just ring a store and try I'd say. Was a great deal at the time. The guy didnt care really just said yes after getting permission then asked for details when typing it up.

Bought the 55" 8000 series Samsung from JB when they price matched Appliance Central when they had a 20% discount, no harm in asking the question, really wasn't expecting them to go for it but just bought it then instead of waiting for the shipping.

I think the new ALDI 65" Google Certified TV would beat this.

    https://www.channelnews.com.au/reviewnew-aldi-bauhn-google-c…

    • Looks good but a gamble to go with that on one review, as in the past Bauhn picture quality has not been great.

I would have some doubts about the impartiality of "channelnews". If you search in Google news for a review of that TV there are several positive channelnews articles about it (and no other sources) and by the way here's another channel news article promoting not only that TV but various Aldi products https://www.channelnews.com.au/get-connected-with-4k-65-inch…

  • You will regret buying an LCD these days. Just save up for another grand to get an OLED.

    • Why's that?

      • Because LCD has very bad viewing angle, limited black level which therefore affect contrast (OLED has unlimited contrast which makes the picture pop more) and the worst of all is the clouding issues which LCD will never can get rid off because of its inherent uses of the backlight technology. Use to have a 4K LCD and sold it after 2 months due to the clouding issues, now owned a Panasonic Oled and couldn't be happier.
