Suggestion for eBay Plus + Amazon Prime Free Shipping

I would like to suggest an improvement to deal titles by changing the behaviour of Prime and eBay Plus shipping listings.

Right now, a deal is posted from eBay or Amazon and it looks like this:

Disney Frozen 2 Elsa, Anna, or Kristoff Fashion Doll $12 + Delivery (Free w/eBay Plus) @ Myer eBay

Dunkirk 4K @ Amazon - $11 + Delivery ($0 with Prime/ $39 Spend)

Can we make a change on the deal submission page to add a checkbox which identifies if free shipping is available through ebay or Amazon and then applies a little icon on the deal submission when the checkbox is selected?

The icon could be an eBay Plus or Prime logo and could appear over the submission thumbnail or inline with the deal title (like the 'New' icon). Using some smarts, the logo could automatically identify whether the deal is from Amazon or eBay as well. Other free shipping services could be included too (these 2 are the most prominent though)

This change would allow submission titles to be simpler and shorter:

Disney Frozen 2 Elsa, Anna, or Kristoff Fashion Doll $12 + Delivery @ Myer eBay {eBay Plus Icon}

Dunkirk 4K @ Amazon - $11 + Delivery {Prime Icon}

Thanks for considering my suggestion :)

    Agreed. Every deal stating (Free w/Prime) has become a waste of text. Must be a better way with an icon.

    Yes

  • This is a good idea.
    Some posts start with [Prime] or [eBay Plus] but I think that should be reserved for deals exclusive to Prime/Plus members rather than denoting free postage.

    • The Title Tag [Prime] (or [Amazon Prime]) is reserved for deals exclusive to Prime members and deals will be edited by Moderators/Power Users if it is used incorrectly/omitted (and is picked up, of course).

      In my opinion, [eBay Plus] (or [Plus]) should also only be used for member-only offers, and it is used thus in a majority of cases. However, since there is no option to negate delivery with a minimum spend on eBay, there is an acceptance of its use in cases where delivery "kills" the deal.

  • Sounds useful, but might be worth noting that it is potentially a breaking change for those with saved searches like "eBay Plus"

      Thats true, but if this is a checkbox, then their new filters could be changed to ‘is eBay plus deal: y/n’

  • Should've added a poll.

    I agree with your thinking (obviously within the teams workloads). Would be a good idea.

    I've always been an advocate of having the store title in a separate field so you can't forget it.

  • Great idea

  • you might find prime is trademarked which is why it hasnt been implemented.

    A rule of [+Del/Prime] and [+Del/eBay+] would cut down on letters

    • OzBargain could still use a trademark if permission were to be granted. However, the simplest solution would be to create their own "Prime" and "Plus" icons and use those instead.

      If you mean to use [+Del/Prime] and [+Del/eBay+] as Title Tags then the main issues are that they eat into the 20 character limit, and they contain non alpha-numerics/spaces which aren't allowed when setting up filtering. (Plus [+Del/Prime] should more accurately be [+Del/Prime/$39+], though since the minimum spend to get free delivery applies to all listings, I suppose it could be omitted.)

      If you need to cut down on letters, then "+Del ($0 w Prime/$39+)" and "+Del ($0 w Plus)" are acceptable and only 5 and 4 characters longer respectively.
